I wanted to ask, what do sewing thimbles do exactly?? I was wondering about it when I was watching the show

It’s supposed to protect your finger from being pricked by the needle.

Also they help you push the needle through the fabric without having it (the thread end of the needle) shred your pushing fingertip.

Also, you normally wear just one thimble, on the finger you’re doing the pushing with (for me, middle finger of my right hand). No one would ever wear thimbles on every finger but this is just how inept she is at embroidery that she needs to protect each fingertip from possible self-inflicted danger.

Thank you so much for the context. Even though I like embroidery and eid it in school, I had no idea about sewing thimbles

Our thimbles are about 98% ugly metal ones 😆 I understand the Korean thimbles were/are made of four layers of ramie or even paper, covered by the embroidered decorative covers. Sometimes they can have a leather layer to make them even harder to pierce.
