I’m not sure what I feel about Mr Queen but it is that kind of a show that you don’t need to feel, just enjoy. I’ve had sageuk allergy and idk why I wasn’t able to like any sageuk but one reason is that all sageuks I came across had a very weak king/prince in front of all the conspiracies. And I think that is why I liked Seven Day Queen. No matter how evil YSG was he could shutup anything against him. It was also the reason why I don’t have much issue watching Chinese historicals because the main characters are not limited to being the royalty, neither are they so weak being the protagonist.

However, Cheoljong is very sympathetic. I especially like the element of biased and inaccurate history. I am usually sceptical of historical records because we never know the full truth. Right when I was thinking the politics in Mr Queen is getting repititive, they spiced it up. I still think the politics part is atypical and lacking but Cheoljong makes it watchable or maybe it’s KJH.

I guess I am mainly staying because of the humor. I don’t see Kim So Huyn asJang Bong Hwan unfortunately. She seems no different than an eccentric time traveler and I guess that is mainly because we haven’t even seen enough of BH to associate any characteristic with him. The humor realted to KSH/JBH is great though. And its surprising how the humor is totally amiss when it comes to other characters (except Court Lady Choi). The star of the show is undeniably Shin Hye Sun, she deserves a Daesang.

I am intrigued about the next 8 episodes and it is thoroughly enjoyable but I wish the narrative was meatier.
