I was anticipating such a terrible ending for Awaken (well I anticipated the whole drama went downhill from the beginning, tbh) that I actually liked how it ended!
Don’t get me wrong: the drama is full of tropes (all you can imagine) and plot holes the size of the Moon, but if you are a devoted follower of NGM, you will definitely enjoy it.
Same here! I just finished watching the last episode a little while ago and I agree it wasn’t terrible! NGM was really good in those last minutes of the show.
I just watched the first 2 eps and it was ok but I also see dissatisfactions posts regarding this drama floating around. so now I dont know whether to proceed or not
lol
Don’t expect the drama to be something special, because it’s not. But I enjoyed every episode, not that I wanted to FF or something. But beware that there are lots of things that don’t ever get explained, and that is probably its main failure: the story goes on and leaves behind questions unanswered. But it’s a fun ride. I only can recommend it if you like NGM and you just want to have a good time watching something easy.
Yes. Like you Eazal I enjoyed the ending and NGM’s performance.
I don’t know about you but over the last couple of episodes NGM’s character Jung-woo started to remind me of his character in DOCTOR PRISONER. In DP he played an ant-hero which is not the case here but there was something about both characters trying to bring resolution to their trauma that struck me.
I haven’t watched DP, but… guess which drama I will begin during the weekend because I need a weekly dose of NGM?
I will let you know what I think about it!
You are in for a treat. The writing and acting was superb. The drama settled in to become like a tennis match going back and forth between NGM and his nemesis played beautifully by Kim Byung-chul.
I really wanted to catch up to it but sigh its over. I’ll watch it sometime over the year for sure. A NGM drama is never to be missed. Saw a few clips and I agree his look is great!

He was good all over the drama, and the ending made perfect sense to me.
