Yujin Sangga, which was built to prepare for an invasion from North Korea in case of North and South confrontation, was the only construction that blocked the 11km-long walkway along Hongjecheon Stream. Although the underground of Yujin Sangga was dark and disconnected for the past 50 years of being buried in the piles of stones, but today, it is filled with public artworks.

Hongjecheon Stream is the first tributary of the Hangang River. The stream runs 13.92km-long and flows through Jongno-gu, Seodaemun-gu and Mapo-gu. The stream was historically also referred to as Hongjewoncheon Stream due to its proximity to the Joseon-era Hongjewon rest area. Visiting Chinese envoys and officials would often stop by here to refresh. Today, Hongjecheon is famous for its waterfall and bicycle path.
