Mr. Queen Episode 19 Preview: I kind of pity Na In Woo for having to play the character of Byung In -> how the hell do you even try to interpret the character when it is so inconsistent?
I’m sorry but that’s like saying the only constant is change: Byung In went from choking So Bong because of So Yong to saving So Bong because of So Yong in a matter of seconds, I find it nearly impossible to understand this in terms of character motivation.
There’s some pretty serious suspension of disbelief going on when Byung In somehow thinks that there’s another soul inside So Yong’s body in the first place: this is a saguek, not a futuristic show or even a modern one. When she told him that she’s not the woman he loved anymore, what logic is it that his first thought is: So Yong’s body is infiltrated by another soul?
Let’s say he justified that by the realisation that her actions were weird (but they didn’t have that many interactions in the show, so…), okay fine, then the next step is: how does he believe that So Yong’s soul is somehow still in there? Just because she says it once again? I don’t know man, all I see is plot magic.
I do not like BI tbh. I try to understand his motivations but in general I find him annoying. My only takeaway on his character is that he wants to protect the Queen because he lurvesss her. But it does take a lot of suspension of disbelief that he would assume soul swap out of all the possibilities.

He seems to be a good actor but the character is so inconsistent, it is a wasted potential

He is consistent in his intent to protect the Queen. He has no loyalty to anyone but to himself and his goal to protect her.
