I’m still pretty annoyed by this, you know.
    It just doesn’t feel right.
I’m thinking I may join you buying their merchandise. HA!

On one hand, the logistics will be a nightmare and I get that. I am sure that the military has dealt with fans before but I really don’t think they are prepared for this scale. ARMY is way to smart and way to good and they have already mentioned that the military will allow camera footage inside the base once they are there, which, noooooooo. This is going to be step one into why all of them will be given a waiver.

It’s unfair that they get to avoid their service. It’s the very definition of one law for the rich and influential and another law for everybody else. It’s also disgusting to see how their fans have lobbied for this and justified the special treatment being accorded to this band.

        Yeah and yeah.

But the writing is on the wall.

Fans supporting this is the thing that infuriates me the most, like all those male fans will have to enlist, and all the female fans have friends, brothers, boyfriends who would enlist and make a two years hiatus in their lives. So yes, it’s the rich and powerful against the mass and convincing fans they care. They only care for themselves and fans only mean income.

The fans and naming them, the constant intrusion and aspects of life out in the open as if they are actual people in their daily life, and the organization around them is all well and good….until it is not.

This is the hallmark of k pop groups and it is blowing up in their face right now.

Sadly, every member of BTS will be fine. If a push comes, you can’t tell me they are not prepared.

        To clarify a few misconceptions.
        1) South Korea has passed a law that will allow members of the K-pop group BTS to postpone their military enlistment until they are 30 years old – it’s applicable to other pop artists as well. One can postpone military service upon the culture minister’s recognition that he has dedicated to elevating the national reputation. So don’t worry guys, you should (so far) have the opportunity to purchase and eat BTS merchandise.

        2) Fans did not lobby for this. The BTS postponing military enlistment thing was started by another large entertainment agency as a way of testing the waters – I vaguely think the boys referred to this in some lyrics as well. If you look at ARMY fan communities, fans are concerned about how this affects BTS’ image. My intel on who started this is as good as yours’, unless you’re in the South Korean agency that actually started this.

        3) I write all of the above without any ‘anger’. I do recognise that it’s about time that the oldest members enlisted. If it makes you feel better, Suga took 3 months off recently to get a surgery on his shoulder so he’d be physically fit and able to enlist (also for his health going forward, I suppose).

So they went from decreasing the age from 30 to 28 because young men were heading towards middle age when they had to finally enlist to now a special circumstance states that they can be 30 if they are a pop artist.

This still reads like how the other commenters are feeling and it ain’t good.
