I finished the second episode just a moment ago. It’s surprising that the supporting cast has so many actors that I love. I like Shin Hye-sun but has never named her as my fav; she is nailing it here. I didn’t particularly like the ML but he is still ok.

You mean River Where the Wind Blows?
        Oh.. Where the Moon Rises?

But why do you need to celebrate it? Is it the spring time? Like your winter holidays?

Lent is a approximately 40 day religious observance in the Christian calendar practiced by much of the Western Christian world in preparation for Easter. It starts on Ash Wednesday and ends, depending on your denomination, some time during Holy Week. It co-incides with the Northern Hemisphere Spring.
Often observers give up something in a fast for the entire duration.
I don’t know, Kiara can correct me, but the implication here is that Toki is giving up db, or perhaps all online social media, for Lent.

And yes, /I/ mean River Where the Moon Rises, and I presume Kiara does too since we’re both in the Sageuk “club” lol.

I see. Thank you @sicarius for a very clear explanation. Can you give up anything.. like a certain type of food too? For example, you can choose to give up ice-cream because you don’t normally eat it anyway.

I don’t think I’ll ever be in that club since sagueks are really not my thing.

@mmmmm For Lent, if a person so chooses to fast (give up) on something for the season, it’s typically something that the person feels they indulge in too much, not something they don’t use/have/eat irregularly

@mmmmm there’s a lot to unpack in that question but I need to go to bed!!!!
            Uhm in short:
A primary purpose of Lent is preparing your heart/mind for the celebration of Easter.
Fasting is intended to refocus you by replacing whatever it is you’re fasting from and the time spent on that thing (whatever it is) with focusing on God- or in this specific case Easter, Christ’s journey to the Cross, His death and resurrection for our sins, and everything involved in that.
And so the idea is you give up something that makes that worthwhile- something it is worth giving up for God.

As for WHAT you give up (food vs other things) it really depends on a) what denomination you are and then b) what branch of that denomination you are… it gets quite complicated quite quickly.

There’s a lot more than that but hopefully that gives you a general idea.

@bebeswtz and @sicarius thank you very much you two. 🙂 After I posted my last question I also thought that perhaps it was about giving up something you normally indulge instead of something you don’t normally do or eat. I understand the general idea now.

And good night Sic and I’ll see you sometimes in Discord bebe 😉
