I had been suspicious of Ba-reum from the very first time viewers saw him. I mentioned in my first comment on the drama threads that I tried to view his words and actions through a darker lens. Due to the very subject of this show, and Lee Seung-gi’s character playing an important part, I feel like most people would have had to begin to suspect Ba-reum at some point, even before the latest revelations.
While I saw him as a possible suspect behind the Deadly Sins murders, I still didn’t necessarily see him behind all of them, especially with the timing of some of the crimes.
Questions:
Going with the belief that Ba-reum killed Moo-chi’s hyung, Moo-won, during that live stream:
In episode fifteen’s flashback to this murder, didn’t Moo-won see Ba-reum’s face? He also would have heard his voice. Why, then, did he not name the murderer when he was still able to do so during the livestream?
Related to this, I could have sworn Ba-reum was watching the livestream in the same room as Moo-chi. Am I misremembering? Remember the whole faked video and the mysterious caller? Ba-reum was in the same room at that time. He handed Moo-chi the faked video, which was part of the team’s plan to coax the killer.
That is if the murder was actually committed on live tv. Initially, I had thought it was pre-recorded, but then it was said to have been live.
The comatose friend, Chi-kook:
As others have asked, why was he left alive all this time? He never seemed to have had a 24/7 guard, even before Yo-han was killed and identified as (without further investigation) the killer behind the Seven-Deadly-Sins murders. If Ba-reum had brutally stabbed him, why would he have left him behind as a liability? (He shouldn’t have had to worry about security and fully-functioning cameras, since they seem to not exist/properly function at key points in this drama, lol).
I still think that something very big is operating in the background.
What about that cleanup crew?
Why would all that evidence have been left in Ba-reum’s basement? Why was it cleaned up only after Ba-reum had seen it? Is he being actively followed? If he was known to have been the killer all along, wouldn’t they have been aware of his hidden lair? Why wait till after he had re-discovered it to then remove all traces of it?
Are Ba-reum’s memories unreliable? What the hell is going on?
That being said, I am not saying that Ba-reum is in the clear. I’m just curious if there is the possibility of another big mislead/misdirection. And there remains the possibility of other suspects.
I think we all expected this twist. I have the same questions and don’t have any answers. Either there are some big plot holes or there is more to it all or both lol.
I do think there is something big operating in the background. They showed that scene where Daniel Lee gave an envelope to someone in a black car again and then Daniel Lee said something like he hoped he had made the right decision back then. Then there was the guy Moo-chi saw on camera with “Oz” written on the paper. Is Oz the mastermind? Even if Ba-reum IS the killer, I think he’s spent his life as the “Mouse” in someone’s twisted experiment.
I can’t wait to find out what was in that envelope. I am glad that the latest episodes returned to the subject of the envelope, although we are left with more questions.
“Even if Ba-reum IS the killer, I think he’s spent his life as the “Mouse” in someone’s twisted experiment.”
Yes! I am really waiting for the big reveals to come.
Thing with BR is.. from the very beginning, you know he is the killer. So , in that respect i don’t think his memories are unreliable. The fact that he was neither a genius not a psychopath at the beginning, when we know he is one of the kids with the genes, tells you straightaway that he is acting/faking his personality… and then we keep getting glimpses of younger brother who is such an optimist.. which atleast i think is the personality BR is projecting when he is playing nice guy
*******************
I am more curious about daniel lee and head hunter’s relationship, and that lady politician (she probably is the one “saving” BR right now through Lee).
So, bigger things in background – for sure there is an experiment lab being run.. pretty sure helmed by the lady and shin’s politician daddy (one who rejected lee’s plea of using dna testing on babies to identify abnormal cases)
*******************
Killing chi kook made no sense. Guy was comatose. Killer could be someone from prison… so how do you explain someone breaking out of prison , killing, chi kook etc.. too much trouble.. it would have raised more questions
*************************
Seungi being in the same room .. well we don’t know if he stayed.. or if church was nearby (because no one else knew bro was transferred to new church).. could be any of that
“The fact that he was neither a genius not a psychopath at the beginning, when we know he is one of the kids with the genes, tells you straightaway that he is acting/faking his personality… and then we keep getting glimpses of younger brother who is such an optimist.. which atleast i think is the personality BR is projecting when he is playing nice guy….”
Yes, I have also thought about that. He didn’t seem to have any genius skills at the beginning. Side note: I don’t think that kind/nurturing young boy in the flashbacks was the (step or half) brother. I thought we didn’t know who that young boys was. I’m trying to remember the actor who played the younger brother in the first episode.
It is the same actor. Such undying love for his brother..
I am most curious about this relationship. I know we were shown 3 dead bodies.. but i am really having a hard time accepting that he killed that brother. he was literally the only good thing in his life.. only one who genuinely loved him (trusted him too..)
And we are shown a handicapped girl in the orphanage where they went to find that other girl who was a witness. Remember, the handicapped girl kept saying her brother will come and that looking at BR she was scared and kept saying he is not her brother..
Have a feeling she is the younger step-sister (she was mentally challenged too right). That gives me hope that younger brother may not be dead (but then whose bodies were those.. )
It’s the same actor? I thought the stepbrother was much younger, just a young boy, and the nice, optimistic boy was the classmate who was watching him in the first episode.
I am talking about the step brother.. who follows him in the field, who doesn’t rat on him, who notices his hurt hand, tells him to be careful when he is digging some hole to thrown in dead animal bodies.
@alasecond Oh, based on the age and dialogue I thought that was a classmate. In the first episode, they showed a kid watching him after he killed the rabbit. In the field, the rabbit was mentioned so I thought it was the same kid.
So the scene where the kid bandages Jae-hoon’s hand occurs in episode eleven. I looked at the kid and he does not look like the actor who plays the step brother. He looks older. And I was paying attention to the dialogue. He doesn’t refer to Jae-hoon as “hyung” at all. I think he is a classmate or something. I will include a pic of the actor in another post.
I think there’s a high chance there’s something going on in the background (well, I mean someone had to remove the murder lair 😅) but what or why, I’m not sure.
Potentially both Ba Reum and Yo Han were “mice” in some twisted experiment and Yo Han had worked it out, hence doing Ba Reum a favour by trying to kill him?
I think everyone expected Ba Reum to be evil (given the obvious alignment between his initial presentation as upright young man and casting Lee Seung Gi) so will be interesting to see how they run with it from here.
Yes, if not everyone, then at least most viewers expected it. That’s why another part of me is wondering about another twist to that revelation. But maybe it just is what it is. We have another revelations to explore anyway, what with experiments going on and possible government involvement.

Oh, it is. I’ll need to re-watch those scenes at one point.
I hope they do return to that girl in the orphanage. That would be amazing if she were the step-sister.

twist wise .. as predicted
But acting wise.. i like them all (except moochi, seungi’s gf, and PD) .. seungi is nailing it
and pretty sure head hunter is keeping tabs on our hero
this is a good series overall
