Just finished Move to Heaven. I am absolutely speechless. I haven’t seen a show this genuinely heartfelt and moving in a long time. I cried multiple times every episode; my eyes are red and swollen. Honestly, it would be accurate to say I ugly-cried through the entire show.

Tang Jun-sang and Lee Je-hoon both gave career-defining performances. I was initially wary that the depiction of Aspergers might be hokey or derogatory, regardless of positive intention. However, my fears were quickly resolved by the first episode. The actor himself wasn’t neurodiverse, but I felt his portrayal was respectful and nuanced (I cannot speak on whether it was entirely authentic or not). And between this and Taxi Driver, Lee Je-hoon is absolutely killing it.

Move to Heaven is, without a doubt, the best show I’ve seen in 2021, in any language. A true masterpiece of kdrama storytelling. It has affected me unlike any media I consumed recently, my emotions are still running high. I have to go and contemplate everything I saw.

Don’t know if you haven’t seen Navillera but please give it a try too. Namu is also there. 2021 has been giving us Healing Dramas in the form of Navillera and Move to Heaven and I love both. ❤️

I am not a crier, but I was incredibly moved during several eps and tears were streaming during ep 10. I also really liked how the cameo actors popped up in more than one episode. That somehow felt like it helped to weave the drama, the story and the community together more richly (bonus: Sang-gu’s pink ears!).

Definitely the best show I’ve seen in 2021. I binged it in one day and am still thinking about it. I’m not a crier but tears were streaming during a few episodes.

Heartfelt. Funny. Moving. It was just incredibly well done all around.
