I read some webtoons and fanfictions for the last few days and wondered why in love triangles, if it involves two guys and one girl, the guys are usually equally nice or worthy, while if it involves two girls and one guy, one girl is angelic while the other is bitchy. It’s not only in those, but in dramas and movies too. It’s not always the case, I know that there are cases where it’s the other way around, but I have read and watched more with a case like above. I guess this is one of the reasons why I really appreciate writers who can write more than one female characters with different personalities without having to make one of them antoginistic.
I think second female lead is bitchy to make female lead look good. Like, you would of course root for heroine when there is no more normal females in that universe.
On another hand, second male lead is perfect guy. He is used to show viewers that what leads have is a true love. Like, if you prefer someone with flaws and daddy issues to some rich and charming guy than that must be a true love.
