Bagged milk is mankind’s greatest invention, and I will fight with whomever does not agree.

Challenge Accepted: Bagged milk is insane. I lived in Canada for four years and am still baffled by it. (I get that it’s better packaging for the environment but still, no.) If you cut the hole to big, it’s a problem, too small it’s annoying. If you have drunk housemates who are animals and rip it, you just get a mess.

Just… nip the tip. If its to small, make it bigger, I find it easy, but maybe that’s just because I was raised with it? But like, it’s better tasting then the stuff sold in the carton (Personal opinion), and if you are an avid milk drinker, having it in the separate bags keeps it from going bad as quickly as if you got a huge plastic jug of it.

As for cutting, apparently there are these little gadget sharp things that are designed specifically for opening the bag. I’m not sure how well they work, as I have only ever used scissors.

Also, your housemates are monsters. The worst that has happened (for milk) was fainting and waking up in puddle of it. But ripping it???? Horror

I’m like, 98% sure my housemate once used her teeth to rip open a bag. I didn’t witness it, but the evidence was there. Also she was a psychopath and totally disgusting, which like, I have a really high threshold for grossness so that’s saying something. I’m so glad I never have to see her again. (This is me being really nice about her, by the way.)

We totally had one of those little gadgets and kept losing it even though it HAD a magnet so it’d be stuck to the fridge, but…honestly there was no explanation.

To be fair, I can’t speak to taste because I’ve never liked milk on its own. I only really keep it around now for tea or cereal. But I still think bagged milk is madness.

I wouldn’t say it is madness as it is the more popular milk drinking method is using the bags. But then again, Canadians can be a bit crazy so take of that what you will.

Bagged water on the other hand….
          Now that is madness

No, what is madness is Boxed Water which I see at Freshii and few other lunch places and which just makes me go WHYYYYYYYYY? I know us Americans are silly in many ways, but this is just beyond dumb. (I also just generally think that bottled water is a waste, but I also carry a reusable bottle most of the time.)

(Here’s a link to the thing of which I speak: https://boxedwaterisbetter.com)

            Boxed water????
Great, that won’t taste like cardboard at all. (Freshii?? Restaurant chain?)

And as someone who constantly forgets their water bottles, plastic water bottles – although occasionally annoying- can save someone like me who easily gets dehydrated.

Plus my boss gave me a water bottle that is is like 3Ls for free, so I am contractually obliged to argue on their behalf.

Freshii is a salad/wrap “healthy” chain – I’ve def seen it in Toronto, though I don’t know about the rest of Canada. Pretty good bowls, though. But yeah, boxed water. It’s a thing.

I get buying water when you need to, but it just feels so wasteful too. But I also get dehydrated easily so I need water all the time. I have a giant bottle on my desk at home 24/7, plus one in the fridge and a smaller one at work that gets refilled like three times a day, so I’m usually overprepared.

As a New Zealander, who has been to Canada, and who has been spoilt with grass fed milk her entire life (yay for one of the best dairy industries in the world), sold in 3L plastic bottles that are recyclable, and that I could easily drink one of in a week by herself… I have to say, I’m still with the Bottled side on this one.

I don’t know much about the taste different between plastic and the bags (I do, however, find the cardboard carton taste to be… different), but wouldn’t it go bad quicker? Cause it is getting more exposed, and for those who don’t easily go through a jug a week, I think it would get spoiled faster.

But then again I am a wee lil’ lass who just may not know any better and is possibly (extremely) biased towards this really really odd contraption that makes you wonder just how someone could have thought this up.

Also they’re great for throwing at people. Not that I would have ever done that because violence is never the way to go.

I don’t really see how it’d spoil quicker in a bag vs. a bottle. Since it’s UV light and exposure to heat that makes it go off. If you left it in the sun- bag or bottle, I think it’d spoil either way. As long as you put it back in the fridge you’re fine. Also you can buy smaller bottles here if you’re not a big milk drinker, and non-transparent bottles if one thinks that helps…
Although now I sort of want to conduct one of those high school science experiments to find out haha.

Hahahahaha and now I also want to see a slow mo vid of someone getting hit with a face full of bagged milk… thanks… -.-

I had to look it up to find out what bagged milk is, I’ve never heard of it before!

It’s a Canadian thing. You can buy the bags in a bag that gives you three bags, and you put it in this jug thing that has its top lobbed off, then you take some sharp appliance and nip off the tip, and voila, the milk flows out. It’s great if you have a huge love for milk and drink a lot of it.

Greatest Invention indeed! I love it that way.
