After listening to the remix for half a day, here’s my opinion:
As a fan, I love it. Like 300%. I love love the MV. The song is badass, the MV is hella cool. I’m so proud and I can’t get enough of it.
But the objective voice in me is telling me that I wished their introduction into the western world with an English remix was done with another more relatable song. As a fan, I absolutely LOVE the lyrics. But I can’t help feeling like a first time non-fan would not be able to relate to our history, and find the showing off lyrics cringey. Also, less autotune would have made a more special first impression?
Anyway, I’m too afraid to talk honestly on twitter, so I’m leaving my thoughts here. Still, MIC DROP!

    i love it too!

but i get ur concern. not everyone would be able to get the message & if they’ve never understood the history of bts, they could come off as arrogant. 😒 dna was a happy, chipper song, which is why i thought it was a good intro-to-the-west. mic drop is entirely different. but maybe this is also just our fear as fans because we want them to be loved wherever they go. but this is real life & haters will continue no matter what route (song) they would have done.

** i, myself is relatively new. im ~1yr. i just found them interesting at first, then escalated from there. 😜

Late welcome to the army family! Thanks for getting me. I just want badly for them to use this opportunity to gain as many new fans from the new audience pool as possible. From the number of small dislikes, and how it’s trending on YT, I guess I’m worrying for nothing 🙂

        Hahaha ikr? 😛
(I tossed up Dope and Fire, but I think I’d have liked a Not Today remix better. It has good lyrics too.)

I agree. Fire and Dope are good melody-wise but the lyrics for Not Today are more relatable. I was rewatching those MVs trying to choose a hypothetical remix version but I couldn’t hearing autotune in my head whenever I tried picturing it lol. Steve Aoki has brainwashed me.

            Yeah.
Hahahahahaha I mean, I’m not sure how a Stever Aoki Remix of it would work either… see, MIC DROP has auto tune in the vocal parts anyway, I’m just sort of imagining Not Today vocally as it is, but maybe a bit more editing in the bridge area, and some dope drops and slides in the chorus or something, change up the melody a bit when it gets to samey, and it’d be awesome… 😛

This isn’t the first time some artist have addressed their haters with song so I think the audience “might” be more open to interpreting the meaning behind the song….(?)
I mean so many curious people commented on their MVS after their ama performance, everybody wanted to know about them more & the armies were more than willing to help out.
I hope everything turns out well though.
I loved mic drop too BTW 😛
