My grandmother was killed in a car accident when my dad was 15. His father started dating someone new not too long after. My dad says he was against it at first, but kept his mouth shut as he knew he’d be going off to college and didn’t want his dad to be alone. As an adult he is so glad he kept his initial feelings to himself. The new woman turned out to be wonderful. She was the grandma I grew up knowing and loving.

I’m watching Shall We Live Together/Marry Me Now, and we have adult kids freaking out because their widowed father has the gall to date someone. I just don’t get it. What is their beef? Why do they want Dad to be alone forever???? It’s not like he’s having an affair. He’s been widowed for over 20 years. Grow up, kids! My dad was more mature as a teenager than you are at over twice his age!
