French grammar is making me want to sing “killing me softly”. And I even have an exam in it this summer *help*

I was listening to that song yesterday lol. It’s suitable to describe our situation. I have an exam too but next year, I’m on a holiday now.but I’m still mourning the mistake I made in the exam I took in January. 😭😭😭😭 i will never forgive myself , Good luck anyway! Fighting!

Yay for holidays! But ugh no, I’m sorry you made a mistake -.- Mine is “just” an oral exam but it also includes talking about French Existentialist works like Sartre and I’m just… so not ready for that *quiet sobbing*

Oral exams are worse , my pronunciation sucks. Thank god I’ve never taken any. Otherwise it would be so embarrassing
And oh that sounds intense. *Pats you on the shoulder* don’t worry it will be fine 🙂
That mistake was soooooooooo stupid I still can’t believe I actually did it 😭😭

We “only” have to be able to read, translate and explain grammar, so there’ll be no such worry thankfully haha.
It isssssss *somebody whisk me away to Neverland so I won’t have to do it* Hahah thanks ^^
Ooh noes, what’d you do? :O

Good luck with learning French! I know it is a challenging language and verbs are a nightmare!
But, may I say that “une poule” lays eggs and is feminine while “un poulet” doesn’t and is masculine, so there is some sense to it! Somewhere! Sometimes!
    Hang in there! Fighting! 😉

I know this quote isn’t yours and, although it is not entirely acurate, it encapsulates one of the paradoxes of the French language that we face all too often!
I’m learning Korean right now and I share you predicament: language learning is haaaaaard!!! 😢

Yes , You’re right !! This word gender thing is so confusing. 🙁
I had to give up on learning Korean as I’m already learning French and English so learning a third language would be too much 😢 I really wish I could learn it though 🙁

Also words like “avaient” which is pronounced “ah-veh”. Why use all those letters if you’re not going to hear them?!?!?

That’s another frustrating problem with learning French, I don’t get it ! 🙁

Ok, but once we DO learn the rules of what to say or not, it’s not too bad!

(I am nowhere near fluent but the letters actually make a lot of sense now.)

Yup, I had to learn how to pronounce French, but in order to do that you have to learn some of the grammar and vocab. Once you know what’s going on, it’s not bad, but looking at it at first is terrible. Same with English, I guess (“eight”, “cough”).

English has got to be the worst in terms of exceptions. You really do not have ANY clue how to say anything if you have never seen the word before.

          Bough?
          Through?
          Plough?
          Slough?
          Though?
