I heard it is very difficult to become a naturalized citizen of Japan. Cho Sarang’s appa was still a SK citizen until his mid 20s although he is a third generation Korean in Japan.
Then how Tae-ik could be a naturalized Japanese in a short time?
The outlined criteria for naturalization are provided in Article 5 of the Nationality Act:[7]
Continuous residence in Japan for 5 years
At least 20 years old and otherwise legally competent
History of good behavior generally, and no past history of seditious behavior
Sufficient capital or skills, either personally or within family, to support oneself in Japan
Stateless or willing to renounce foreign citizenship and swear allegiance to Japan.
Pretty mild requirements I would say. I never knew Japanese citizenship was this easy to get. In compared to many other countries.
Well, for many people it is, many it is not, depends on where you are from and where you going to… (I would be happy to … saves a huge amount of money on Visa fees for people who travel as much as I do and even the great amount of time and effort and paper work from bureaucrats)

Given the fact that it is world’s most powerful passport to have… you can travel almost anywhere in the world without visa.

Renouncing your foreign citizenship can’t be easy. That’s a lot to ask of a person…
Thanks for the info, @oppafangirl!
