I have watched and rewatched Wild Romance more than 50 times since it aired in 2012, and it is still one of my top 3 dramas ever. I love this show with every piece of my heart and it never gets old.
Let me first tell you the con: in all these nearly 8 years I haven’t seen any beanies who like it much, and several who dislike it. 😅 I thought I should tell you that upfront.
I love this show too much to try to recommend or explain it, but I can give a list of pros:
1- It is from the writer of Alone in Love, Evasive Inquiry Agency, White Christmas, and Age of Youth.
2- It has 6 of my most favorite actors: Lee Dong Wook, Lee Si Young, Oh Man Suk, Lee El, Im Joo Eun, and Lee Hee Joon.
3- It has wacky humour, thrilling mystery, heart-breaking reveals, spine-chilling crimes, and a little bit of romance on the side.
4- there is something in this show that gets me in the heart every time. And that is the height and depth of dedication every character has for their own cause; be it their favorite team, their sport, their job, their family, their friends, their ambitions, their love. It is just so blatant and fierce. And I love them all for it.
5- I’m not sure if it can be called a psychological thriller or not, but the psychology of the characters’ minds and interactions is one of the most intelligent and believable I have ever seen in a show.
Thank you, no need to apologise! I don’t usually watch thrillers but I will add this to my list because I like the cast, and the promise of wacky humour with a bit of romance.
Thanks for the warning. I appreciate beanie opinions but I don’t let general consensus stop me from liking a drama either. I enjoyed Moorim School for instance, and I love Flower Boy Next Door to bits. I don’t care what other beanies think of those dramas to be honest.
Oh and I hope you find it with good subs! I have it downloaded since a long time ago so I don’t know where it is available now, but it is full of baseball expressions and puns, and poems, so decent subs are really a must.
The only difference for me is the drama choices. For me, it will always be “Save Your Last Dance for Me” (starring Ji Sung, Eugene Kim, Lee Bo Young, Ryu Soo Young) & “Marriage Contract” (starring Uee and Lee Seo Jin). No matter how many times these 2 dramas rip my heart out during each re-watch, I still love it to bits
@midnight I logged in immediately when I read your post to tell you you’re not the only one! I used to think I was the only one who loved Wild Romance too. It’s been a while since my last rewatch but I remember loving the development of the OTP and how they gave each other space at the end to reevaluate their relationship and that she didn’t have to change who she was to be loved….as you see I adore this drama…..oh and then the Robot OTP lol! You’re post made my day.

Ji Sung and Lee Bo Young together is just a little piece of drama heaven. I always feel sorry that they aren’t the main leads .

He was the male lead (she the second female lead) in “Save Your Last Dance for Me”, and are both main leads in their dramas nowadays 🙂

I know. I meant that every time I watch StLDfM I feel sorry that she is the second lead and not the main lead.

I’m not sorry about that lol I loved Eugene in that and it’s the drama that made me a fan of hers, and have stayed a fan all these years….
Oh, wow, I just realized: SYLDFM is 15 years old as of October 2018!!! The first episode aired on October 23, 2004 🙂

Lol I was a fan of Eugene and started that show only for her, by the middle of the show I had fallen for Ji Sung and LBY! But Eugene is still cute! 😉
