Technically 3 that were produced in 2019 (Haechi, Melo is my Nature and Her Private Life), but none of these -except Haechi from the second half on- felt like the power dynamic was terrible. Anyway, this year I watched some of those that felt cringier. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Clean with Passion and Suspicious Partner, I’m looking at you!
Hmmm…none. i watched about 10 2019 dramas and none was centered around a boss dating his/her subordinate. Yayyyy 🎉
Perfume had a somewhat boss-worker relationship, but I consider it a noona romance and they knew each other since they were kids.
I also watched about 11 older years dramas and I recall none had a lead dating their boss!!! I’m surprised by this finding 😯. I didn’t notice it before 🤣.
You’re right it is both. I just meant that the romance was predominantly characterized by their noona-dongsaeng relationship because they knew each other in that way before she began working for him 🙂
8 :/ I don’t get the obsession over dating your boss. I feel like that’d be so weird in real life… It’s such an unbalanced position / situation of powers.
Forget dating I don’t know how you can like (not in a romantic way) your boss.

Quick poll: how many dramas in which the lead dates their boss did you watch in 2019?

Romance is a Bonus Book is technically boss dates subordinate, but it was really just a noona romance.

Surely it’s both? Or am I misunderstanding what noona romance means?

Quite a few number of dramas I watched this year were like that now that I think about it.

Our beloved CTG was like that too, and while I adored the leads, I can’t help but wonder why this set-up is popular among kdramas.

I don’t understand the appeal either and the inherent power imbalance tempers my enjoyment somewhat.
