Did I watch Secretly, Greatly just because I learned that Kim Soo-hyun is going to have a cameo in episode 10? Yes. Did I hold off watching episode 10 until I’ve watched Secretly, Greatly? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Do I now miss Kim Soo-hyun like crazy, and cried a little, and want him to be back in dramaland and sweep me off my feet with his acting and overall perfection? YES YES YES 😭😭😭
I’m looking forward to his return to our screens too! He has a lot of range but I don’t think he has taken on a character where he can show his full potential yet. I’m hoping Psycho but It’s Okay leans more towards the slice-of-life/ light melo genre.
When I think about his acting skills, the first thing that comes to my mind is one of the scenes in YWCFTS. There was this interview-like part of the plot, and in one of the epilogues Do Min-joon was asked about his upcoming return. In the matter of seconds Kim Soo-hyun completely broke down and started sobbing, and I remember that I was floored the first time I saw it (and many times after that). It was so heart-wrenching and genuine that for a moment I forgot it was a drama. I don’t know if he’s shown his full potential anywhere yet, but that scene was truly brilliant, and absolute heights of acting performance.
