Heo Jung-min broke into the entertainment industry in 2000 as one of the original members of the South Korean rock band Moon Child, which is now known as MC the Max. He left the group in 2001 after the release of their second album to pursue acting.


Heo Jung-min landed a supporting role in the MBC series My Love Patzzi in 2002. He also played supporting characters in the SBS dramas My 19-Year-Old Sister-in-Law and Princess Lulu in 2004 and 2005. In 2014, he became part of the main cast of the tvN romantic comedy Marriage, Not Dating. In 2016 and 2017, he was cast in supporting roles in the tvN dramas Oh Hae-young Again and Introverted Boss. Also in 2017, he joined the cast of the KBS2 series Go Back Spouses. In 2018, he appeared in the hit tvN sageuk 100 Days My Prince.


In an article by The Korea Herald published in 2014, Heo Jung-min revealed he had three long-term relationships before the end of his twenties.
