Shin Dong-wook debuted as an actor in 2004 with appearances in the KBS2 drama I’m Sorry, I Love You. In 2006, he landed leading roles in MBC’s Soulmate and KBS2’s Cloud Stairs. In 2007, he acted alongside Park Shin-yang and Park Jin-hee in the SBS series War of Money, which won him the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. In 2010, he joined the SBS drama Wish Upon a Star. In 2011, he was diagnosed with a rare chronic pain condition called CRPS or complex regional pain syndrome, which resulted in his early discharge from his mandatory military service. After years of hiatus, he made his acting comeback in 2017 through MBC’s action-thriller Lookout. In 2018, he was cast opposite Yuri in the MBC series Dae Jang Geum Is Watching. In 2021, he played Go Hyun-jung’s younger brother in JTBC’s Reflection of You and then appeared in SBS’s Now, We Are Breaking Up.


Shin Dong-wook is cousins with Super Junior’s Kim Ki-bum. In 2018, he confirmed his relationship with a doctor practicing Eastern medicine.
