Queen of Tears: Episodes 13-14

by Unit

We still don't know if that was what happened though.

I mean, it's not clear whether the three month deadline for the divorce becoming final, even passed before Hae-in agreed to have the surgery and accepted Hyun-woo's divorce cancellation proposal - I can't imagine Hyun-woo NOT hotfooting it over to whatever authority was in charge to cancel that divorce the second she said yes. If we're still within the three months, then she's still legally married to Hyun-woo and can't actually be officially "married" to anyone else even with a forged signature that Eun-snake might put on the form, that's bigamy. Unless there's some other loophole that allowed it.
(also would Hae-in really have signed any documents allowing that creep to be her 'guardian' before the 'you're a blackmailing creep' press conference? It would contradict her entire reason for being there - she knew she might actually die and intended to out him, surely she wouldn't sign anything giving him legal powers over her in a situation where him having the chance to use them was very plausible i.e. she was dying?? Especially not right after the Hongs saw what happened to Grandpa who'd done the exact same thing giving Mistress Snake power of attorney/guardianship over him?? And if the '3 months before divorce is final' deadline was in force, she couldn't have signed any wedding forms while still legally married to Hyun-woo even if they were referring to themselves as divorced)

aaaagh I'm just very frustrated about this.

Queen of Tears: Episodes 13-14

I would say it was actually a fairly even-handed fight until episode 12 - Hae-in got her own back at the press conference, Hyun-woo managed to talk his way out of being murdered.

what's more infuriating is the continued stupidity of the Hong family and especially Hae-in's mother- they're still letting Grace around them? Not immediately going on red alert on seeing Mistress Snake harassing Da-hye (her former co-conspirator)? Plus PLEASE why hasn't Queensville been gone over with a fine tooth comb for bugs?!

I recognise that turn of phrase!! Good on k-netizens for coming up with it, really sums him up so well.

Also - while I'm still maddened by the drama giving him this absolutely illogical "I'm Hae-in's guardian now" win, I do appreciate the one thing QoT did right about Eun-쓰레기 in relation to Hae-in which is make it 100 percent crystal clear that despite his sad childhood story, history of abandonment and abuse, ~feelings~ for or obsession with Hae-in or whatever..... none of this changes the fact that he's a sociopathic creep who shouldn't be allowed within 100 metres of her and this is NOT one of those stories where an awful man deserves ~redemption~ because he's obsessed with a woman.

(and Hae-in's repeated, clear and unapologetic rejections just make it even clearer. Though it's annoying that she has to keep repeating herself because red flag Eun-snake will not take no for an answer)

Fragile sounds like it could be a longer version of the darker drama specials Nineteen otters and Everything and Nothing, maybe the youth version of Dear my friends.

1. A Gong Yoo and SHK pairing wouldn't be bad at all.

2. The Hagwon romance one is one I hope to check out, assuming that very specific thing where I look forward to a show only to be unable to bring myself to watch it doesn't happen this time.

3. Love the cast lineup for The Price of Confession. So yes, will give it a watch, hopefully.

4. Jung Sung-il? Yes, please. I'll try and watch it for him, if nothing else.

5. Tentatively looking forward to Crash.

Thank you for such an amazingly perceptive recap.
The skilful writing and how all things are connected really shines through this week. The original couple episodes set up a hook each week to keep us on bated breath and reel us in next week. The only way we have been able to survive this live watch is with these odd episode sets and *previews*. 🙈 😊 Can't wait for our birthday invite which is now deferred till next week.

The amusement park date was so beautifully shot. Given the lighting I'm sure they would have shot it over a number of days. To maintain that same emotional charge would have been very challenging to shoot. My respect for the cast and crew!! 🙌

The Law Minister's son reveal was a well set up twist. Hidden in open sight with an organic link to the story that we knew till then. It did not seem as irritating as an intentionally withheld critical  information (which it totally was) but was a well-timed reveal.

Looking forward to celebrate Ki-joo's birthday party next week. 🥳 🎊 🎉 🎂 🎁 💝

The detective being a complete psychopath was a little bit of nowhere like the fact he's the son of the prosecutor.

I was disapointed they connected the death of the uncle to Bom's parents and the big villain because I thought it was connected to his arc and nephew but he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I want to know more about the camera. What happens if he died? He doesn't have family, so who will continue it? Now, the issue is the villain ghost will be able to get in the studio but what will be the consequences?

There are a few of the early stage dramas that sound like they would be worth pencilling in on the long list but I need more info before committing them to ink.
Looks like things could be busy in May Saturday -Tuesday with a few of the new ones dropping on the same days so I may have to save one show to watch during the tumbleweed rolling mid week period.

Hoping for a realistic relationship based i.e. no stalker needed, drama. Please, we are living in a new era now and there are other things that can stress a relationship.
