Day 13 – Overrated Drama – #MeteorGarden2001 #HanaYoriDango #BoysOverFlowers #MeteorGarden2018

I still don’t get the fuss. But I’ve seen them all. And I was addicted to all of them.

Hana Yori Dango was that drama that you should be appalled watching. And you should have dropped because it was so cringy, over the top, full of tropes, toxic, overrated. Should. But here you are, finding yourself glued to the screen as Tsukasa and Tsukushi do their usual push-pull, love-hate relationship. Still glued to the screen watching these four horrible arrogant rich boys strut around the campus while they bully the rest of the students.

Hana Yori Dango was that drama I would love to hate, yet it was my gateway to everything I know of today – the world of Asian dramas. First Asian drama ever, first Taiwanese drama, first Japanese drama, and first Chinese drama. It also introduced me to four of my favourite boys – Jerry Yan, Lee Min Ho, Matsumoto Jun, and Dylan Wang.

Very Overrated drama. Will I watch another adaptation if there is one? *rolls eyes* Yes.

*whispers* I own all 37 books as well….. 🙈

I don’t know what’s more shocking. That this story needed 37 books or that you own them!!

🙈🙈🙈 Yes, yes, I paid hefty amount for a trash story like this and these books take up a space on my bookcase. Yes yes. Did I mention I am not fan of this series because it is so cringy, over the top, full of tropes, toxic, overrated?????????? 🙊

I know for my part part of the fun of MG2018 was (was that really 2 years ago?!) was the hype. That turned into the group live watch/live translat-athon. I keep telling myself that Im going to watch MG2018 again by myself since its fully subbed but I’m pretty sure the memory of watching the drama here will always be way better than whatever is happening in the drama.

Group watching always takes the drama watch to a whole new level. It’s always fun. So I’m pretty sure the feels won’t be the same anymore if one is to watch it alone…

And auuugh darn PPLs… those PPLs on the finale – when they were supposed to be having honeymoon and there was shampoo, shaving cream, foundation PPL, stir fry pan to name a few. 😵😵😵

And that Say Something OST Lol.

      Should I rewatch that?

I think the more fitting question to your question is well, would you want to see Caina again????? 😵😵😵😵😵😵 and ho through all her ordeal?

Day 12 – Drama That You Can Watch Over and Over – #DalJasSpring

Dal Ja’s Spring is my go-to drama when I am in drama slump. So I’ve been rewatching this series for more than a decade now and I still don’t get tired of it! 😆

I mean what’s there not to rewatch? Dal Ja and her spare time are so much fun to watch!

While I am not a big fan of cardboard or forced lip contact scenes, this lip biting made me feel so uncomfortable and thought this should make it to today’s drama challenge.

Oooooof! It’s still painful to watch this. 🙈

And the fact that I made 3 gifs of this lip biting……. 🤦‍♀‍ It’s not funny.

Don’t do this to someone you love, please. Even if when you’re drunk.

Day 9 – Favourite Secondary Couple – Lin Jing Xiao and Lu Yang from #ALoveSoBeautiful

This was an easy challenge! While I loved Scarlett and Seol Ji Hwan from #SearchWWW, Ling Jing Xiao and Lu Yang stole my heart first. And so here is a post dedicated to the times they tugged at my heartstrings.

A Love So Beautiful is a nice youth drama that takes you back to that time when all that mattered was school, making friends, experiencing young love. Watching this drama gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling remembering that time when life was simple. Adulting is much harder, y’all!

While I did not experience first love in high school, I do enjoy dramas about them. There’s just something about seeing two people grow up together, fall in love and then spend the rest of their lives together. And this is what I watched Ling Jing Xiao and Lu Yang did throughout the show.

Lu Yang fell in love first because of what she did for him while Ling Jing Xiao took her time before she realized he was the one for her.

I’ve been in love with her all through our three years together. Even though she never regards my feelings for her with an ounce of seriousness, but today, I want to make it known, with all seriousness, that I love her. I love her!

He only had eyes for her. She liked someone else. He got his heart broken. He confessed. She started seeing him in a new light. She became more attentive to him. She missed his presence when he was not with her. And she fell in love with him.

I loved watching their progress from being friends to lovers! They spent the last days of their highschool, their university and adult years being in love with each other.

*ESSAY CONTINUED IN THE COMMENT BELOW. LOL. I apparently wrote too much and added pics for DB’s character limit…… *

8
9

And just like that….they started a new chapter of their lives.

My tears were non-stop during their wedding ceremony! They’ve come a long way to get to this part. They grew up, went into the real world, got married, and created their own family.

“I found you. Lu Yang. Thank you.”

“Ling Jing Xiao. You’re welcome! Ling Jing Xiao. I love you.”

I watch dramas like this and I remember how it was like with my own mundane love story – it wasn’t childhood friends to lovers, but we met, started dating, spent the years getting to know more of each other, had our fair share of petty fights, got engaged, and still learn many new things about each other and grow together.

It’s very rare to find a drama that connects you on so many levels – A Love So Beautiful did that to me. I`ll always remember Ling Jing Xiao and Lu Yang’s love story.

So like… can you have a Worst NOTP when the drama hasn’t aired yet and you have no plans of seeing it at all??

I had a NOTP in mind to write for today’s challenge, but I’ve scraped that off because I woke up to this news and I`m like AUGH NO. I`m linking the NOTP I don’t like as I don’t want their pics on my fanwall….

Day 7BEST LEAST TALKED FAVOURITE OTP – Nak Won and Na Moo from #ComeAndHugMe

Yet another category I had to think so hard. 😅 To me all the OTPs I loved, spazzed about, pulled on my heartstring are the best….. I equally love them…. So I will just use this space to talk about a favourite OTP of mine that I hardly gushed over or thought of, but has a special place in my heart. Nak Won and Na Moo.

Question: Can you tell us your ideal type?

Nak Won: Someone that makes me tear up when I see him…

Come and Hug Me was a hard watch. It’s not something I would watch on a regular basis. It was a stress drama. But one of the great things about Come and Hug me was how resilient Nak Won and Na Moo’s relationship was. That was the constant part of the show I loved and appreciated. They were the couple who should not have fallen in love but did.

The world judged their relationship. The world condemned their love for each other. Nobody understood the attraction they had for each other. You watch them and you can’t help but get hurt because of how beautiful they are together. They`re so in love; they don’t care about what the world thinks about them.

Why I love Nak Won – No matter what everyone said and whatever tragic events that happened to her, bright smile had never left her face. She had always been so strong. She displayed so much positivity. I love girls like Nak Won. She never had an ounce of resentment to Nam Moo. The more people asked her to stay away from him, the more she fell for Nam Moo and wanted to be with him.

Why I love Nam Moo – One of the nicest male leads I have seen! Nuff said. 😊 So soft, so gentle to everyone around him.

This OTP only loved each other from start to finish and there was no such thing as noble idiocy that happened here! Come and Hug Me was that heavy drama yet so beautiful and comforting.

22
2

Maybe people don’t think if them right away because thinking about this otp also relieves the pain. Come and Hug Me was such a painful watch but it was also healing. I really enjoyed it but don’t think I can go through the pain again.

    2
    1

I agree. I don’t talk about them a lot as this had been a really painful watch. But I love them and I still think about them from time to time.

Day 4 – Favourite Female Lead – Sung Shi Won from #Reply1997

I did not think choosing a favourite female lead for this post would be this hard as well. This drama challenge is not easy, y`all! Why did I commit to participating in this? 😂 I chose Sung Shi Won as my favourite female lead because I realized I relate to her the most.

She’s the epitome and cutest fangirl I have ever met! Her love for her H.O.T, particularly her Tony-Oppa mirrors my 13 years of fangirling Super Junior. It always put a smile on my face whenever I saw how much she gushed over her oppa, went through so much to defend the love of her life…. Errrr, sans the blood pack and camping out of her oppa’s house, she reminded me of my fangirl self. My parents did not understand my obsession too, they still don’t, but hey, they know nothing about true love. 🙃 And I can’t change me! And I wouldn’t change me! 😆

Another reason why I am very fond of Shi Won is because of her personality. She’s bubbly, outgoing, vocal. She emitted youth; the fun and not so fun stuff that came with it.

I also liked that Shiwon is very candid with her feelings. When she realized that she had fallen in love with her childhood bestfriend, she was honest about it and had encouraged him to be honest with her as well. Once she’s made up her mind, she does not get swayed.

Reply 1997 should be what a highschool rom com is about guys! Korea should make more youth dramas like this. Lately they’re all about bullying, horrible teachers/principals effing up the lives of their students, horrible parents dictating what their kids should do or not do. I just… want something light.

Slice of life. A kind of drama that is purely about watching these kids’ priorities, thoughts, and feelings change over the course of their lives without overdramatic arcs.

25

My favorite reply series!! Loved her in this drama.

I agree about needing more youth dramas like this. These days school dramas are so intense and politics/ parental pressure driven we forget these are kids trying to become adults.

We hope you never change either! ❤

We need more light slice-of-life drama. Youth could be fun, y’know. But I almost forgot that whenever I see the list of youth dramas in the recent years.
Also, we need Jung Eun-ji to come back to dramaland with a good project soon.

    2
    1

I know! The latest youth K-Drama I’ve seen was Moment of Eighteen. And while I had my fair share of swoonworthy moments from that drama, but it was def not an easy watch.

Jung Eun Ji def needs to come back with a new show!

      0

Yesss. My favorite as well. It would have been my choice, but I decided to go with a group of girls in Age of Youth. Glad to see she was mentioned, and what a wonderful post you did. So good.

My all time favorite kdrama. So many memorable scenes in this drama. One of them is Shiwon asking Joon hee if it’s not gonna be an issue dating Yoon-Je knowing what she knew. It may have been a simple gesture, but it resonates with me so much more.

    3
    1

Thank you! Shiwon never took Joon Hee’s feelings lightly. She is sensitive to people’s feelings. When Yoo Jae started avoiding her, she gave him his space as well even though she didn’t understand why he was being mad at her. When he confessed to her and didn’t want to see her again, she respected that too.

30 Day Drama Challenge

Day 5 – Favourite Male Lead – Choi Taek from #Reply1988

I love my drama boys. And there are many of them. So this is probably the hardest challenge to write. I didn’t want to name just one male lead as I came across many of them and fell hard for them. Alas, I had decided to give this space to the first boy who made me re-evaluate my type of male lead. Choi Taek.

My kind of male lead is someone who doesn’t yell and looks down on the girl he likes. Who remains soft spoken even when they argue or bicker. The era of drama I grew up in had me swooning over chaebol asshat male leads. It was the era where it was totally okay to be hot and cold towards the woman you loved.

So when I met Taek in 2015, I thought to myself I would not want him to be with the female lead because he did not fit the bill of my “kind of male lead”. But the more I got to know Taek, the more I saw how gentle he was with his interaction with Duk Seon. I saw how respectful he was with her.

I realized that he was my ideal man. The kind you would feel at home with.

The kind who would gently smile at you as he finds you endearing.

The kind who understands you even when you don’t say anything at all.

The kind who would not hesitate and be there for you when you needed someone the most.

So I had changed my interest in male leads – his kind is what I look for now in the dramas I watch. It’s rare I know, and that makes him my most favourite🥰

Taek also has the one of the brightest smiles I’ve seen.

yieee. I don’t think Taek would have been as charming if he wasn’t played by PBG. 💖

Day 4 – First Drama Ever Watched – #MeteorGarden2001

I first saw this series in 2005 and it opened my love for Asian dramas. I knew from then on that there was no way out of this drama addiction.

I have love and hate for this series, but I still come back to it no matter how many versions it came out with – Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese. If there is ever going to be a remake again (god, please, no!), I`m so sure I’d get sucked back into Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai (Tsukasa and Tsukushi)’s world all over again.

Throwback to the first Asian boy group I’ve ever listened to – F4! Meteor’s Garden opening song, Meteor Rain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6iM09vNYwE

Here is one of my favourite OST from Meteor Garden, Broken Vow. I hear this song and see this MV, I can’t help but remember that time I was sobbing ugly over Dao Ming Si having amnesia and how he had forgotten everything about the woman he loved. Now, I roll my eyes over plots like this. LOL. How times have changed.

What version is this one? That outfit in the second picture!

    1
    1

It’s the very first one! The Taiwanese version. Huehehhehehe I wanted to say those were the IT outfit in Taiwan back then but… lmao! Gold tight leather pants and horrendous long sleeve shirt on, Dao Ming Si was still the hottest man I had ever seen at that time 🤪🤪🤪🤪

      1
      0

It is funny to look back and remember things that we found swoony, romantic and heartbreaking is now annoying, obnoxious and silly. Sometimes I wish I could go back to those innocent early drama days when I watched everything with innocent eyes. Now I’m jaded and more mature and it’s much harder for dramas to make me fall in love with them like I so easily did in the past.

Your non-essays turned into essays 😂

    3
    1

I very much agree Trin! Back in the day I would hardly drop a drama and would enjoy pretty much any show I started. Overtime I’ve become picky with dramas I watch and not even my favourite actors can save dramas I deemed terrible 😭😭😭

And lmaaaaao its easier said than done. I had the feeling once I took on this challenge that it would take me forever to finish all this. And I was right lol. This was actually the “shorter” version of my essays. I kept checking the time I’ve spent on screencapping, finding related MVs on YT, that I got so stressed I needed to cut short my writing time. I wanted to talk more about why these shows made me cray what sigh I guess that’s for another opportunity then 😪

Day 3 – Favourite J-Drama T-Drama – #SomedayOrOneDay

I will also skip talking about a favourite J-Drama and use this space instead to promote (once again!) my favourite Taiwanese Drama. Someday or One Day.

What makes this a great, memorabledrama – it tried to put everything onto its plate – slice of life, romance, comedy, fantasy, mystery, thriller – yet it managed to blend these genres so well.

This drama broke my heart, made me fall for the characters harder and harder as more episodes rolled out, then stabbed my heart, ripped it into many pieces after bleeding hard, and then slowly mended it back, made me feel alive again. It was a rollercoaster of emotions that I would love to experience for the first time again, to be hurt and to love all over again. To love yourself. To love others selflessly.

Huang Yu Xuan, Chen Yun Ru, Li Zi Wei, Wang Quan Sheng, Mo Jun Jie. I miss you. I love you. Words will never be enough.

Day 2 – Favourite C-Drama – #PutYourHeadOnMyShoulder

This one I had to think about. I fell in love with a lot of C-Dramas since watching Meteor Garden 2018, my first C-Drama. I thought hard and decided I would give it to that show that rocked my spring of 2019, Put Your Head on My Shoulder.

This drama hit all the right notes for me. I saw two people get to know each other and fall in love. A slice of life story. Very mundane. No grand plots. Their ordinary lives flash before my eyes. My kind of drama.

I love that this show gave me a refreshing female lead. Momo never made “love” her entire world. She did not become a slave to her emotions especially when her first love frustrated and disappointed her. I appreciated seeing the list of her life goals, and that dating was the least of her priority. She was strong-minded, sassy, could come off as snarky, cranky, snippy who did not know how to back down from fights even if they were petty. But y’know what, I’d take her personality any time of the day over candy female leads.

And then there’s Gu Wei Yi. One of the nicest male leads I have ever seen! Male leads who are extremely nice to the girls they like are very rare, so it is automatic swoon worthy and a favourite of mine if a male lead doesn’t yell at his woman. I`m really glad that the second time Momo fell in love, it was with Gu Wei Yi. She deserved all the love in the world.

Put Your Head on My Shoulder checked off what I wanted for a light, rom-com genre. It was an easy watch, no angsty conflicts, and both parents supported their relationship. I still miss you Wei Yi and Momo! 😭

30 Day Drama Challenge

Day 1 – Favourite K-Drama – #DalJasSpring

I have a lot of favourite shows, but if I were to ask what drama takes the gold for me, I would say it’s Dal Ja`s Spring. I saw this drama in 2007 and I still visit this show from time to time especially when I am in drama deep slump.

What set Dal Ja`s Spring apart from the rest of the dramas at the time it aired was the fact that it dealt with women empowerment. In 2007, this plot was a fresh concept. A drama that focused on working women who worked their way up the ladder and were actually great at their jobs. Dal Ja was respected in her profession. Her colleagues relied on her capabilities. She was this ideal career woman who had her own apartment, could provide food on the table, always dressed for success.

Amidst her successful career, she was, however, clueless about relationships; she had a habit of overthinking and overacting when love and feelings were involved. She tried. She made mistakes. She tried again. She took her time figuring out what she was as a woman and as a person. I also liked that the male lead ended up falling for her first before she did with him.

I enjoyed watching the second OTP as well – they were not eye candy, but I liked that the perfectionist stubborn female host fell for the immature production director who slept his way through and that they had matured together over the course of the show.

I am the same age now as Dal Ja and I still love her and her moments to this day. I don’t get tired watching this show. She was also the reason why I don’t change the colour of my nails. I always sport black nails because of her. Her nails were pretty!

Sharing you my favourite fanmade music video.

Love love love! I’m currently rewatching this with my best friend (it’s her first time watching)! It’s not a perfect show but I love how focused it was on female characters, and they were all flawed but (mostly) ultimately likable. So three-dimensional. Dal-ja and Tae-bong are one of my favorite OTPs as well as among my individual favorite female and male leads.

There are so few classic 00s dramas that have both a complex female lead AND a male lead who is sweet and not a jerk! It was like a unicorn back then!

    3
    1

Oh! It’s also one of those shows that never strays from its focus on the female lead. Many rom-coms end up turning into the male lead’s shows in the second half, but Dal-ja’s Spring was always about Dal-ja. Tae-bong got his focus at the end as well, but the drama always focused on Dal-ja’s reactions and feelings before anyone else’s. I loved it! She goes through some great character development. Despite how many bad choices she makes, you always root for her.

      1

Yes to all what you’ve said Mindy. And this is why this show continued for resonate with me. There is a rise now of strong female leads in recent dramas, but I still remember Dal Ja’s Spring as that drama was female-centric. The drama that respected women and their chosen profession. That drama that talked about women’s success and their insecurities. The drama was more than just about finding men to fall in love with. Also Dal Ja’s OOTD was always on point.

May be I should rewatch this!! Why is Lee Min Ki so swoony in this video.
I didn’t like it much when I saw it and I was mostly put off by the wig (yeah yeah, am shallow like that). I am not sure if I finished the drama. Will give it another try sometime.

    4
    3

It’s not a wig, is it?! It’s her real hair! The ep I just watched with my friend has Dal-ja and Tae-bong snowed in and her hair kinda deflated from the snow, lol!

I’m totally biased but I love her hair. I liked the drama from the beginning but I recognize that it doesn’t really get good until episode 7 or so. Episodes 7-16ish were great, in my opinion.

      2
      2

And yeah, Min-ki is just pure charm in this. I don’t know how he does it. I love how varied his roles are but I would kill for him to play this type of character again.

        1
        0

It def picked up when Dal Ja decided to move on from getting involved with her second man. When her contract relationship with Tae Bong ended and he went see her and lived with her because he had already liked her, that was when the squeeeeling began for sure!

        2
        0

I like her hair (it’s not a wig!). It’s a little crazy and out of control but still soft. Just like Dal-ja.

Visually, Dal-ja is completely dated, but plot and character-wise, way ahead of its time and 2020 drama writers should study it for how to write a female character.

      3
      1

Def egads. Dal Ja’s Spring was ahead of its time and that’s why it was so refreshing to watch it at that time. Still a memorable show to this day. Even though Dal Ja longed for that kind of relationship she couldn’t have, she was happy with her life. She was a capable woman who can feed herself just fine under a nice roof. She didn’t need a man! But of course who can resist a cutie Tae Bong 😉

        2
        0

It could also be that the drama is now dated that it’s kinda hard to connect with the characters. I checked MDL and was extremely shocked that this awesome drama is rated 7.7! 😱 I could not for the life of me figured out why! Then I read comments that aside from women-centric drama, it was full of tropes yada yada yada. While I do agree that it did have its tropey parts, would never see this drama that way. It’s perfect in my eyes lol.

      1
      1

See, what I liked was that it seemed like the drama was poking fun at a lot of tropes! I will forever laugh at their parents’ flashback where the 50-60 year old actors played themselves, and when Dal-ja was like “what if we’re… Half-siblings?!” and Tae-bong said “…You’ve been watching too many dramas” LOL

Also, people on MDL have no taste anyway

My favorite song from the show.

      2
      1

Something about this song that just sends shivers down my spine. Shi Shi’s voice, the tempo, the lyrics, the thought of Chen Yun Ru whenever this song comes on. All of it.

        1
        1

While I loved Huang Yu Xuan, Chen Yu Ru felt closer to home. Her loneliness and her expectations from the world. I love what Huang Yu Xuan said to Chen Yun Ru that you just have too many expectations from the world(i don’t remember the exact dialogue). So many of us do that, we think life is tough because it isn’t working our ways.

          2
          1

And I also like that Huang Yu Xuan by the end of the show became sensitive to Chen Yun Ru’s feelings. I don’t remember the exact quote now, but when she first talked to Chen Yun Ru, she was being insensitive to her telling her “everything would be alright”, that she was fine yada yada yada. Yknow the words of encouragement, but somehow you could feel it didn’t come deep from her. Chen Yun Ru showed her and made her feel she was never fine and how insensitive those words were to her. I def love that line from Huang Yu Xuan, wapz. She understood Chen Yun Ru better and was able to get the appropriate words out.

Steven Zhang Appreciation Post

Beautifully singing to #SkateIntoLove five OST. The first two OST were originally sung by him! 🤗 His next drama is the Chinese Version of Nodame Cantabile, #SymphonysRomance. I haven’t seen any drama adaptations of Nodame nor have I read the manga, but I`m looking forward to this show.

Same. I’m looking forward to his next drama. I know he’s gonna be amazing in it. Also with Wu Qian!

A beanie has started watching his old drama, Young Blood, and is once again impressed with Steven! Unfortunately I’ll have to pass that drama since I’m not into period dramas. But I’m itching to check out My Huckleberry Friends for him!

I have watched the Korean and Japanese version of Nodame so I’m excited! Was he casted for the conductor role??? Oh my goodness!!!!

    2
    1

Hmmm is the male lead the conductor? If he is, then, yes! It will air sometime in June! 😆 I hope it will be good.

      1
      1

YES, he is! So excited!! The theme of Nodame is very similar to Skate into Love actually. It’s also about pursuing your dreams, and fighting for it. It’s an ensemble cast too since they are music majors who have to form a whole orchestra with the conductor as their leader. The Nodame character is a piano major who happens to be the conductor’s neighbor. It’s a really funny and light show, I’m excited on their take on it. I guess if Steven’s a music major, he would’ve been excited to work on this too!

Nodame Cantabile Jp version was one of my very first drama, I laughed a lot and loved it a lot. The Kr version disappointed me and I dropped it at ep6 or so (even if I looked forward to it since Joo Won was in it ).
A Chinese version in my current C-drama journey/mood will be very well welcomed 😀 !

    Thanks for sharing 🙂
(and he sings very well, what a nice voice too )
((Skate into love finished airing ? might start it next week along with the Untamed, our lockdown will most likely get extended so… 3 meals a day is like 3 episodes a day lately x) ))

    Hoping you’re still well 🙂

Yesss Kudo, Skate into Love is done 😭😭😭 I have no more Bing Bing days to gush over. 😭Hopefully you`ll start soon and that you`ll like it! I have bones to pick especially on the characters that I thought did not fit in this fluff rom-com about sports, but overall, I enjoyed my watch and I am in love with my OTP. Like so much.

I am still working from home which our province predicts will take a really long time. They’re saying the peak won’t hit our province till mid-May 😫

I`m hoping Nodame Chinese Version will be good!

Master Tang and Bing Bing Friday Dosage. #SkateIntoLove

And it’s done! 😭 My Bing Bing days are over! 😭 Thank you, show. You are not perfect. I have quite a few gripes about you, but you’ve have made me laugh, squeal, swooned so much for the past 21 days. You have given me two of the most adorable characters I have ever watched. I am really sad that I won’t get my daily Bing Bing dosage anymore.

I hope there would be more dramas about ice skating. I really enjoyed the ice skating scenes in the show. Beautifully choreographed and filmed. It was so gripping to see the characters’ passion on the ice. The amount of physical and mental strength and emotional intelligence one must have to be on top their game. It’s never easy to make sports your full time career. You either make it or break it. Mad respects to the athletes. Can’t wait to watch the Winter Olympics and be awed again by ice skaters! 🤗

Sharing Janice Wu and Steven Zhang’s BTS on ice.

I am not into sports but this show made me appreciate all the hard work the athletes have to go through. I am actually cheering for China in the Winter Olympics because I don’t think my country can participate there.

    1

Yes def. It’s moving to see them work hard to reach their dream. It’s not an easy road.

My all time favourite female figure skater is of course Kim Yuna. I miss her so much on the ice, but I think I understand why she retired early.

Yuzuru Hanyu is my favourite male figure skater. He’s just simply amazing. I look forward to see him compete in 2022.

Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue are my favourite ice dancer couple. They’ve retired as well, but their presence on the ice will never be forgotten. I just rewatched their Moulin Rouge Olympic performance and I got goosebumps again. 😭 Such a wonderful pair https://youtu.be/hmjsZLyn4aI

I also like Yuzuru Hanyu!!! I’m working in Japan so I’m definitely cheering for him. <3 He reminds me of Yu Yan 😛

As a half-Japanese, my heart cheers for Japan too especially if there are no Canadian competing. If there is, my heart is torn into two. 😆 And if there is a Mexican national playing, as a half-Mexican, my heart is torn into three. 😅

First off – wow those falls on the BTS, kudos to all the skater actors on the show because those falls look really painful. Those must’ve hurt.

It’s really with shows like these that you appreciate the hard work and dedication that athletes have for their sport – as you said, it’s not really just physical strength, but a lot of emotional and mental strength as well to succeed. So much respect!

    2
    1

Yes the shooting looked really hard and challenging to film. Kudos indeed to these actors. My heart actually went out to Janice seeing how fast she was skidding on the ice. That clip where her body slid down and hit a cameraman? Oof!

Yes it’s interesting to see these different professions being portrayed in the drama because it sheds some new light on what they actually through day to day. Nothing is ever easy peasy.

Master Tang and Bing Bing Thursday Dosage. #SkateIntoLove

Ahhhh~ of course they’re saving the last arc for Bing Bing’s career and character growth. I was thinking that Master Tang and Little Lamb already had reached that peak in their lives where their career took a hit on their physical and mental health. And there’s Bing Bing who still manages to be on top of his game. But now it seems like he is hitting the rock bottom as well with his future in hockey 😢 I will never be ready to see you go through such immense pain, but uri Ice God, Jia You! 👊 You can do this. I love you. 💘

Master Tang and Bing Bing Wednesday Dosage. #SkateIntoLove

Ooooof OTP! Careful there. My heart is very delicate right now. It broke into many pieces last night, tried to patch it up using a pink hockey stick tape job, but I’m doing a horrible job patching it back. 😭

Spoiler : Thoughts on Episodes 32 and 33

And we’ve reached the tipping point. The part where all hell breaks loose and we try to understand this OTP conflict from their own perspective.

Bing Bing’s worst fear has come true. Just like that their relationship had ended 💔 I wish she had fought for their relationship harder because she agreed to call this quits way too fast. I understand the break up happened in the heat of the moment. They were both angry at each other, Bing Bing caught her lie through her teeth and Master Tang frustrated that there was not enough trust in their relationship.

With Master Tang’s personality, I can see why she would easily agree to break up. She’s temperamental. But Bing Bing has run out his patience too. It didn’t help he is completely misunderstanding things because he is being kept out of the loop! We’re seeing two sides of the coin here and it’s….. a very hard watch.

Master Tang has a heart of a gold. We love her for it. She is the defender of the weak and she cannot stand seeing anyone at a disadvantage, so it makes perfectly sense that she would want to do all means to protect Little Lamb, help him get out of misery. Because during the times she needed help, Little Lamb was with her too in those moments.

She is also a woman of words. Once she promises something, she keeps her words. But then what about what she did to Bing Bing? She, too, keeps promising him that she would make it up to him, but she failed and disappointed him over and over again. I think she took their relationship for granted. But then again, she had asked him to wait for her and trust her. But relationships are built with trust and communication.

I understand that she’s disappointed that Bing Bing didn’t trust her enough. Back in Episode 32 when he asked what was on her mind and she had brought it up to him, although he was grumpy about it, he did agree on checking up on Little Lamb. There is nothing communication cannot fix.

Onto the lying part – Master Tang has learned her lesson that not everything is black and white. That she has caught herself in this very situation where she too had to lie (It happened twice in her life – lie to her parents and to Bing Bing!), but this time around it was because it wasn’t her secret to tell.

That screenshot above when she replied back to her girlfriends asking them what was wrong with keeping a little secret? I was like! Hah! Now you’re in the grey area! You’re seeing it yourself that it’s not always easy to tell the truth.

    0
    0

But again! Master Tang – she has a heart of a gold. We’ve seen her forgive and forget Bing Bing’s lies too easily. She was not too hard press on him whenever she found out his lies to her. Now that she was in this situation, she had hopes Bing Bing to trust her more (like she did to him!). That he needed to trust her that there was more to the picture he’s seeing past those “little” lies.

Well, they are young. They will make mistakes over again. There will be nasty and petty fights. But looking forward to see the fight through all this. At the very moment, I do wish it is Master Tang who has to work really hard to get this communication thing going. I think it would be great to see her grovel this time around to win him. He had been doing this grovelling thing for a long time now. I want Master Tang to do the chasing this time! 😬😬

Master Tang and Bing Bing Tuesday Dosage. #SkateIntoLove

I am missing their elementary adult bodies 😂, so here’s a throwback to their time together in elementary.

While both experienced their childhood differently and Bing Bing hated pretty much every minute of his time in elementary, Master Tang had always been this big person in his life, both literally and figuratively. His defender from the other bullies.

Six years later, he is taller and has become the “big” person in Master Tang’s life. Protecting her when she is low spirited, constantly showing her how big his love is to her, giving her moral support when she needs it most.

5
5

I agree! I thought these scenes were really well done – switching their adult bodies into their childhood avatars, and then pairing each of them off with their own childhood versions. I was waiting for more of these scenes, but once they got all the childhood stories out of the way, they seem to have stopped using those characters.

    3
    1

It’s a smart use of their adult-children bodies really! Usually we cringe that adult actors would play highschool students in their flashbacks, but in this drama, they made fun of this concept and used them as what you’ve said their childhood avatars! It made the scenes much more hilarious. I was hoping these epilogues were consistent throughout the show; too bad they’ve stopped doing it.

      2
      1

Yes! It’s a shame they’ve stopped the epilogues altogether. I find the endings in the later episodes very abrupt in comparison with the first few. Those were useful to take the story forward, and were very funny! Maybe the editor changed or the writer’s/director’s vision changed.

        2

I loved seeing these two adults in elementary school mode. Especially Bing Bing’s pouting and crying.
The kid actors were brilliant too. esp kiddo Bing Bing with his notorious looks.
    I love these two!! 💗

I don’t dislike him. I’m only on ep 4 I think, maybe 5. And I never disliked him. I will say those first couple of eps when he was being so mean irritated me. In the flashbacks to their youth she hadn’t done anything to him that was deliberately mean. Thoughtless? Yep. Pushy? Yep. Selfish? Yep. She was a kid. They are known for that behavior. And she had a crush on him. So she doubled down on getting him to focus on her. Everything he’s doing he’s doing deliberately to be mean. She never did anything to be deliberately mean. As of ep 4/5 anyway. Maybe she does something worst that will justify his decade long punkishness. But I like that even as he’s trying to cling to his desire for revenge he’s just kind of drifting along in a crush against his will!
But right now? Im all about Little Sheep and his wide eyed, “I think she’s nice”. She is!

In his memory, she was this biggest bully he needed to get away from. He couldn’t get away because he was this meek and timid boy who didn’t know how to say “no, I don’t like what you’re doing to me”. I see where he is coming from. The trauma was there for him. He still wakes up from nightmare because of her. It might not be a big deal to her, or it might be something she did because she wanted to get his attention, but the fact remained that his childhood was not fun because of her.

Fast forward to 6 years later, he planned to bully his ex-bully and show her he wasn’t the same boy she could easily order around anymore. That fired back though as early as ep 3 because she is a shameless and badass woman who will not take any bullshit from anyone. I started laughing out loud from the library scene she started threatening him of the crazy things she would do if he didn’t stop.

He won me as early as episode 2 in the locker scene because he jumped in a heartbeat and protected her from embarrassment. She was there in the boys’ locker room for whatever reason. He was supposed to despise her, yet, here he was, shut his locker door immediately away from any prying eyes.

And then he started getting curious why she doesn’t skate anymore……
