So, the mountain has powers to do supernatural, but apparently the mountain feels it is cheating to divulge the killer upfront.. Just because jirisan loves watching drama enfold.. This series is beyond stupid.. OR does the mountain secretly love KILLING 😀
Ah, a detour into Neil Gaiman territory with an elder mountain god needing blood sacrifices but hiding out from the modern world… THAT could have been a wonderful path to take!
Honestly, I’m not sure. I can imagine a pantheon of forgotten ancient Korean deities running around, maybe. But there wouldn’t be the variety of gods from around the world like in American Gods just because of how homogeneous South Korea is. But it does sound like a fun idea for a fantasy drama.
@ladynightshade. I was thinking of a host of new deities for modern Korea to poke at its sensitive spots. When young people call it Hell Joseon, I think there must be room for poking, for biting social commentary.
@hebang, you mean like the new gods? I can definitely see that working for modern-day Korea. But will any drama actually go there? Critique the current state of the country so directly? Maybe a Netflix drama can do the job, but I doubt any prime-time drama will touch it.
I’m not watching but this grabbed my attention and just makes me think of and miss Mushishi. Sometimes mysterious is good but it just gotta be consistent.

Yes, but that would require creativity, which unfortunately, Jirisan is skimping on.
I now want Jirisan to be like a Neil Gaiman story. Oh the things we are missing out on.

I would like Jirisan to be a lot of things. Namely, everything it is currently not.

I wonder if the ideas in American Gods by Neil Gaiman would adapt well into a Kdrama?

😂😂😂
I dropped it in EP.1 as I can’t handle shaky cams, but I’m having loads of fun reading the comments on Jirisan recap.
