I’m getting hit with all the feels while watching Actors Retreat on VIKI. I didn’t know how much I missed Moonlight drawn by clouds. And Wookie singing Highlight was another highlight of the episode! https://www.soompi.com/article/1543774wpp/young-actors-retreat-pd-talks-about-unique-chemistry-of-cast-members-from-love-in-the-moonlight-itaewon-class-and-the-sound-of-magic

So looking forward to the weecap on this one. Wasn’t it the cutest thing at the start when Wookie kept saying how bad it was for his team that he was their leader!

I have proper missed Bogummy and here he is fresh from his sexy knock everyone else out the park look at the fashion event in Paris🥰. He was the only reason I decided to watch this show but wow! I am now staying for everyone else too.

These two episodes were beyond funny. I don’t do variety shows but so far loving this concept. I felt so sorry for the Ahjussi being in the room with so many younger people but he was a life saver in that first team event.

I’m fracking 3 years older than he is and I would so be jumping and screaming with the rest of them! I cried I was laughing so hard at that first team event. In Yeop is going to be a favorite it looks like. He’s so nervous already. I think most actors are introverts and shy so I’m looking forward to seeing him way out his comfort zone.

Yes me too, he was so sweet talking all the time about his fears and I think he watched the worst types of shows so that has made him more scared. I think he is the one they mentioned in the article you posted but I can’t think who the other person is unless it’s the driver who kept getting lost on the way to the camp as he is very quiet.

I don’t like the ridiculous food they offer to those who lose I think food is a human rights issue so I hate that they use it in shows like I’m a celebrity get me out of here for entertainment value. I was worrying that Bogummy needed a proper meal so them pointing out that he was eating the snacks was annoying me as he had just come off a plane where the food portions are so small. His lift from the airport should have sorted him out but I also think he probably struggled to eat on route due to anxiety about the filming. It must have been a scheduling nightmare getting them all together and I felt for the one woman who was unable to attend as she must have had serious FOMO when they called her. I get that variety shows are a way to do promotion but I think the things they make them do are too extreme if you are an introvert or shy why would you see them as fun?

For the Bogummy portion, I thought it was sweet he offered his almonds to everyone. He’s known as being super considerate in real life and these shows always show that. When he was on Hyori’s Homestay, there was half an episode that showed him eating fruit all day, and then they had Vietnamese spring rolls where he went shopping for ingredients and then after they were done making and eating them, there were a few shrimp left. While they were all talking, he counted up the shrimp and the people there and noticed there were just enough for everyone to have one more piece. It was so sweet. So I think most people know how he’s always thinking about others before himself, and I’m sure he got a lot of sympathy from the public. It just makes him that much more loveable! We always make spring rolls in our house and so that episode is seared into my memory and if I even get the chance to meet him, I’m bringing homemade spring rolls to feed him as much as he wants!

Ah that’s so sweet. I hope he has the chance to meet the right woman and get married and have lots of children, he will be a great dad.

I understood why In Yeop always is playing teen actor. He’s still a child! It was cute to see him nervous to be with the other team when everybody was just eating.

He’s so endearing, if not a little neurotic. I love that. 😆

I have just realised they are not weecapping this one, don’t know why I thought they were, so gutted as it would have been great to chat about it with others each week.

Sorry to interrupt this conversation w a slightly off topic question, @ally, but I’m intrigued by your observation that most actors are introverts. I wondered why you think that may be the case, and would you say that’s the case with Hollywood actors too?

I know this was directed at Ally but I wonder if it’s about creative personalities as a lot of performers/comedians talk about this side of their personality so it would be a universal trait across culture and class.

Just from experience and reading. And yes, Hollywood actors too. Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, Jim Carrey, Bryce Dallas Howard, and even Robin Williams, all introverted. Even in this show, Kwak Dong Yeon says something that belies his introversion. He says when they get to base camp, “Why do I just stay home all the time when there are places like this?” Actors have to spend a lot of time studying roles and memorizing lines, typically isolating themselves to do so, so they have to be very comfortable being alone. I’m not saying all actors are introverts, but I do think most of them are. I’m an introvert too, so maybe it’s just me personifying my personality onto what I see. Many musicians are also introverts—again, practicing hours by yourself and honing that craft—you have to be very comfortable with being in your own head. Lady Gaga is an introvert. Look up actors’ and entertainers’ MTBI’s, it’s enlightening. INFP’s apparently make the best actors, so it makes sense many people with this personality are actors. I’m an ISFJ while my husband is ENFJ, the similarity in our types makes us suited for the healthcare profession, which we both are in. We are also well suited for each other because his extroversion gets me out more and my introversion gives him an excuse to stay home when he needs his downtime. I had no idea my personality type prior to getting married, nor my husband’s, but I kind of wish I did. It’s still amazing how we found each other.

Well, I was wrong about KDY, he’s actually ENTJ. Bae Doona and I share the ISFJ personality type. Gong Yoo is INFJ (or ISFP in some articles), so he has the same personality type as my husband, except he’s an introvert. You see how we gravitate to certain personalities.

Thank you both for your replies! Super enlightening!!

I find it fascinating because I’m an introvert who got a lot out of acting in school since it allowed me to explore my inner world and inhabit others’ experiences and emotions, but I would and could never have chosen it as a profession. (I should mention that I wasn’t particularly good at it either!) It makes me wonder how many of the traits I assumed were a feature or an offshoot of my introversion are not actually related at all – like performance anxiety, an aversion to being in the spotlight, how much I value and protect my privacy and anonymity, etc.

I need to revisit/retest my own MBTI. I had used the free tests online but then someone I know who understands them in greater depth said that it wasn’t correct…so it confused me! I thought I was an INFP, and it made sense to me, but apparently I was inaccurately typed.🤷🏻‍♀️

@mellowarmadillo have either of you two done an Enneagram test?

@reply1988 it’s so funny you ask this because someone else recommended I do the Enneagram test as well! I think part of the problem for me is teasing out personality from unresolved baggage.😅

Have you done the test? Did you find it gave you more insight into yourself?

@mellowarmadillo yes I really liked it and went all out completed the paid version, and bought a book on it.

I am a therapist so need to have insight into what has shaped my personality, thoughts and subsequent behaviour but also believing we can make changes to how we experience the world. So knowing when to play to my strengths and when they can be a barrier is all part of making me a person as well as a therapist.
I see it like my star sign I know what it is but I don’t let it box me in. I then look at what helps or hinders my development and focus on that rather than the numbers or star signs etc.

@reply1988 – this explains a lot about all that you bring (and have brought) to discussions with your insightful comments!💖

And thank you for the work that you do – I’d be struggling so much more had I not had the help and support from counselling at various points in my life! You’re doing such important work!!
