Hello my fellow beanies 👋
I haven’t been around much (actually I’ve sunk back into my old lurking ways), but I wanted to share my excitement with you… I’M GOING TO KOREA!!!
I’m going with my sister (who first introduced me to K-dramas) and we are spending 4 weeks there (doing a couple of tours, and spending the rest of the time in Seoul), we are leaving in 2 days! I’m super excited, but also a little nervous, if anyone has any hints/tips or must see places, let me know 🛫🇰🇷

    That’s awesome! Have fun!
I’ve never been to Korea but I’ve heard that in some places the toilet paper is outside of the bathroom stalls so make sure you grab some before you go in! (I think I heard that subway bathrooms especially were often like that).

    AMAZING !!!
If you have a favourite KDrama or two, explore filming sites!

Thanks for the link, I’ve got the Sam-soon stairs on my list of places to go, I’ll have a look and see if there are other places i’d like to see 😀

The Secret Garden of Huwon Tour in Chandeokgung Palace is amazing, highly recommend, have been there twice.
And my favourite district in Seoul is Insadong, but that’s cos I love the arty, historical stuff. Don’t know what you’re into, but every district in Seoul is different so there’s something for everyone.

Go to as many Tea Houses and Dessert Cafes as possible! They’re wonderful!
I don’t know where else you’re going, but I actually enjoyed Busan more than Seoul, and there are plenty of cool things like a day trip away from Seoul (like Suwon or any of the mountains) if you need to get out of the Metropolis.

    Other:
Get a T-Money card- it does buses and taxis and subways and even some stores (like you can pay for starbucks with it) and it works country wide.
Public Bathrooms can be nasty, so it’s usually better go inside a shop. Korea has terrible plumbing so they usually make you put your toilet paper in a bin beside the toilet :/ this can take a bit of getting used to, and I can’t say I did it all the time because it kind of grossed me out… so I just flushed a lot haha.

Thanks for your reply, the secret garden tour it’s definitely on my to do list, but always glad to have extra confirmation.
As a pastry chef, tea houses and dessert cafes sound wonderful, do you have any particular favourites? We will be staying in Jongno and Hongdae areas, if that helps.
I’m a country girl, so some day trips out of Seoul would be good, we have booked a DMZ/JSA tour, a Naejangsan autumn leaf tour and a day trip to Pocheon art valley and we might do more if we find the city overwhelming.
Thanks for the tip on the bathrooms 😕
