I’ve just been reading this to my six year old – it’s one of the World’s Worst Teachers series and I get that it is supposed to be funny, but it is NOT. None of the books are that great but at least (from the ones I’ve read) the teachers are mean so it makes sense for the kids to get their own back. But in this one, the teacher is just a brand new teacher who has done nothing wrong and the children brutalise him just to be cruel – it’s presented as if they’re doing something really funny and cool. It makes me really angry.
