Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

Out of boredom, I scroll across this site and it has a pretty fun event going on. The users of the site can sort themselves into four different houses, where they are named after the 4 Hogwarts’ houses. The funny part is that those names are very apt to group the kpop fans (most of the users are kpop followers bdw). However, I personally feel that those names can also be applied to kdrama fans too. For instance:

I feel that I belong to the BragginDor when the dramas that I watched do well that I talk about it all day long in the fan wall. Phew, glad that the weekly rating thread is gone. That’s BragginDor camping site! Not that I want to put a negative connotation to it. Nothing wrong with being a proud viewer. # Positive

I feel that I belong to the DeluluPuff when I fervently believe this particular drama is best one out there even though its rating flopped and majority said that it’s a mess or downright boring. Have faith in your taste because nothing wrong with having your own cup of tea 🍵.

I feel that I belong to the LurkerCrawl whenever I’m in a drama slump (tbh less often) or in a commenting slump (surprisingly this is very often).

I feel that I belong to the DramaQuin whenever I’m overact with the kdrama cliffhangers and post it all over the fan wall even though I’m pretty sure the next ep gonna picks up as if nothing happened.

I rest my case. So, who’s up for the sorting hat?

Like the entire album of Summer Magic. Power Up really grew on me. It might be your go-to song when you’re not in the mood but have a last minute work to be done before going to the office.

Really? Glad that they take their time to compose the song. It’s amazing.

      Thanks.

yes they did. YG wanted Forever Young to be the title track but the girls themselves wanted Ddu-ddu coz it’s recently made & suited the current market. i agree, but i’m not that a huge fan. i’m too old for that genre, lol.

No way. We’re never too old for dance songs💃🏻. (I assume that you’re referring to Forever Young)

Hip hop is not my cup of tea. Maybe that’s why I’m not into DDDD. So, Forever Young all the way.

Hope it will get some recognitions in year end awards.

Tbh, the ones in the drama are even more lethal. Even common side dishes look extra tasty and steamy.

I agree on the delicious looking dishes in the drama. I just get easily hungry haha

This drama does begin and end on a low note. But everything in between is so much fun. The summer foods 😍.

I don’t even mind if the drama is entirely in the 2004 timeline. Like the whole story is a Goo-Dae young flashback that he shared with his wife (Lively Baek Soo-Ji of course, not in any kind of urn) and children. Which is workable considered that the writer don’t even bother to make Dae young and Ji woo the OTP 😭.

Finally, I finished the drama 🎉. One thing for sure, I have a lot of laughs. I do wish it live up to its title though. Halfway through the drama, I think the writer forgot that it’s What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim rather than What’s Wrong With The Kidnapping or What’s Wrong With The Family. Credit to the cast because the whole assemble is killing it in the comedy department.

10cm’s easy-listening song is ❤️

If you like 10cm OSTs for Woman in a Suitcase and Goblin, this one might be for you as well.

Wait, is this song really about a mattress? I’m too lazy to look up for the eng sub of the lyric. 😅

Whew, after going through loops and holes, I finally got a melon pass. (Tqvm melon for setting up the obstacles, making the success felt more rewarding 😋)

Streaming Sondia’s Adults made me teary. My Ahjusshi is so heart-wrenchingly good, especially with this cherry on the top.

Finished with Lawless Lawyer. But seriously though, the court scene in the finale felt anti-climatic, like I could see from a neon away that Ha Jae-yi\’s mom will appear. I also find it weird why the writer gives glaring hints to viewers about Nam Soon-ja being filmed by the hidden camera and the lawless gang saved Ha Jae-yi’s mom from being thrown into the ocean. That literally wipes away all possible elements of surprise. But let’s be honest, I’ll probably have drop the drama back then if Ha Jae-yi’s mom die again. So, I sort of glad that it turned out that way.

I think what made the drama enjoyable for me is because I really like the whole assemble and their acting are on point. I seriously can’t get enough of the lawless gang and their antics though.

I guess all the praises for My Ahjusshi have been sung by uri beanies, so to not sound like a broken record, I decide to share my thought soup instead.

I notice a similarity between MA and OHYA. I think the writer re-employed her distinctive plot device: voice recording. I particularly like this device (trope?) because our lead could access the opposite lead\’s honest innermost thought which I think might be a little awkward to be told face to face, hence the advantage of this device. I feel this is particularly effective to build emotional connection and genuine trust between characters. So writer-nim, I look forward to your next drama will similar build-up.

Pd-nim really elevates everything, hands down. It also makes me wonder whether OHYA will be a healing drama like MA if the pd takes a different directing approach .

After finishing My Ajusshi, I also couldn’t help but think that maybe in another PD’s hands, Oh Hae-young could become another healing drama. I actually like how the writer didn’t shy away from showing us the ugly and unhealthy side of people who is hopelessly in love.

Happy to know there are others shared similar sentiment. 😊

Others might have mentioned that but I’m not aware of it because I rarely manage to check out the recap threads of My Ahjusshi. Quite busy with real life I guess, haha.

Despite my statements, I actually enjoyed both dramas (the later might be because Seo Hyun Jin is so good in it). Both dramas felt like the two different faces of the same coin and I enjoyed both of them, the slice of life and the romcom.

If there\’s one thing A Poem A Day is excelled at, it’s definitely the poems. The slice of life parts of the drama are good as well, but sometimes they\’re overshadowed by the slapstick comedies and at other times they give you all the feels.

Even though it is a happy ending, my heart broken for the other ship that didn’t sail. Can the writer just bring back Woo Bo Young\’s doppel ganger?

Lastly, Lee Yu Bi is such a discovery.

I hardly get into noona couples (especially those using their age gap as an issue to add extra angst), but this do-over noona couple is an exception. They are just so cool and funny together.

That ending 😍. Tbh, many times I feel fatigue with the show, mostly because of the plenty \”wtf this is so unfair” and \”life bites you in the ass when you least expect it\” moments. But all the warm tears that I shed throughout the drama really worth it.

Imo, this drama gives a biography vibe. It feels like Noh Hee Kyeong ran around Seoul observing and interviewing patrol polices from the nugu rookies, upright lieutenants, sleazy higher-ups to rotten apples just to give viewers an insider view of their life. Who am I kidding, this must be a fictional work. So kudos to the writer for convinced me otherwise.

As much as I like the signature jokes and the banters, it is their moments of vulnerability that tugged my heart and made me root for them despite their flaws.

His voice is so attractive like honey
My ears. it’s really sweet, isn’t it?
It’s your lucky day today

His tall height
And his veins of unpolished beauty
My eyes, you’re really happy, aren’t you?
You’re very lucky today

Wait, what am I saying?
I need to get a hold of myself
My heart, what’s wrong with you?
Behave, my heart. Please behave
My heart, you skipped a beat, aren’t you?
No doubt, it’s your lucky day today
