Beanie level: Errand boy

This is a close second @greenfields other than the weird slapped on blush thing they have going on.

To be fair, this isn’t the heaviest they’ve had it. And Vixx during On & On promotions had crazy heavy eye makeup.

        Yeaaa I know 😆😆
They are more handsome without that
Maybe that’s way I’m not into them since the earlier day 🙄🙈 even though I love their old songs

Tall, dark & handsome! ^^; The veins on Junho’s throat – was it another member in ‘Without You’ – look ready to burst! I’m digressing into the general raw sexy vibe on that stage (and in Without You) haha. Choreo is dramatic – I LOVE it. But yes – that make up! :p

@greenfields This is my favourite 2PM stage, even though Jun.K isn’t there. The outfits were on point, everyone looked so nice and tanned, and there were no crazy hairstyles
(Junho’s the one with the reddish-orange hair)

Heya! Thanks for these introductory posts.
Okay may I share my thoughts? I love the song – it’s clean and simple; and I can tell what its about even without reading the lyrics – the few Eng words + the music convey it very well. And the members are Built. Or is the outfits? They’re not “pretty” like the younger K-pop idols/next generation K-pop idols, but “masculine” in the traditional sense of the word – it’s actually quite attractive.

    1
    2

No need to ask, I love that you want to share your thoughts. 🙂

JYPE songs are always a hit or miss with me, or at least, it takes me a while to like them because they don’t follow the normal structure that one expects from a song.

2PM are known as the beast-dols – they’ve been pretty built since debut.

While most Korean boy bands at the time adopted a “pretty boy” (Korean:kkonminam) image, 2PM constructed a tough and macho beast-like image when they made their debut. By emphasizing their masculine images, 2PM created the “jimseung-dol” (jimseung means an animal or beast in Korean) phenomenon in 2008.

Jay Park left in 2010. He only participated in 2 mini albums.
Jun.K spent a few years in Singapore, so he knows pretty good English, even if he’s not the most confident about it. He auditioned for both YG and JYP and got accepted to both, so he’s close with both GD and Taeyang.
Nichkhun is originally from Thailand, but was cast in California.
Taecyeon also spent about 7 years in the Massachusetts area.
Wooyoung was known as the sexy guy of 2PM, and he had a lot of fangirls.
Junho you know about (he was actually known as Little Rain during his early trainee days), and finally,
Chansung is their actual BEAST. He was always on Dream Team, and he’s the most athletic of them all.

My personal favourite albums are Grown (2013), No.5 (2015) and Gentleman’s Game (2016). Their earlier albums do hold a lot of nostalgia for me though.

      2

Oh, and just like how Hyunseung (Beast) was cut from debuting with BigBang, Doojoon was cut from what would eventually become 2PM.

The main group of trainees would later be split into two – 2PM (for songs to listen to during the PM, a.k.a., dance songs) and 2AM (for songs to listen to during the AM – mostly ballads)

        3
        0

Oh hey! I know Taec from his acting projects as well. And Chansung from one episode of Master Key where he really stood out. ^^ So athletic!

I had no idea Jay Park was originally in 2pm. I do know about his controversy that caused him to leave for a while. And some of his later music.

        Doojoon from Highlight?

So 2 pm took an interesting an unique approach. Thanks for the detailed intro as well as your fav albums – I’ll check them out when I can. *Bookmarked*

          Yup, Doojoon from Beast/Highlight.

If you watched Dream High, both Taec and Wooyoung (Jason) were in it. Chansung was the douche-y ex who got murdered in Suspicious Partner.

ChanSung was in 7 Day Queen and Suspicious Partner, with a cameo in Romantic Teacher Dr Kim. Don’t know if you have watched any of those.

That is actually the reason they are the only band I like. They are masculine, their choreography looks more like gymnastic moves, and their music is cleancut and to the point.

Yup, they were the original acrobats, and they JYP felt they needed to follow up with Got7

I think their first 2 songs had a lot of gymnastics in it. Jackson and Mark were the main ones who did it.

Indeed. I always want to cut my hair after a certain period of time growing it. I push through and then I want to cut my hair into like a pixie cut. I don’t ever end up cutting my hair that short, but it’s a constant struggle 😛

I shouldn’t have watched the lyric video of You & I or Good Evening. 😭 This had to have been a hard album to write but I’m glad they don’t shy away from their grief either.

Their music video is there usual what the heck is going on, but I looooove it. I can’t wait to see this live. The little bit of the dance we see gives me “Move” and 2pm’s “Heartbeat” vibes. It’s going to be great. It broke my heart to think this is their first choreography actually made for 4 though.

I haven’t heard fully any of the b-tracks yet. I’ll be on that next. I just finished watching their It Box Live. I have no idea what they said but at least they sound happy and excited for this comeback. They also looked at some supportive messages and fan events for their anniversary so hope they drew strength from those!

      2
      3

Yes, they looked great! I loved that they showed all the ways fans were celebrating their 10th anniversary.

        1

I hadn’t thought of that. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of that performance. It’s just a little bit more over the top than I usually go for lol. But yeah I can see the connection now. They were laughing about something on the It Box Live when Key was smashing the piano but I don’t know what exactly.

Shinee does not have a good track record with pianos or anything fragile really. They’re probably a pianist’s and museum curator’s worst nightmare. lol

          1
          1

Yes, we’ve discussed before how we don’t like that performance.

Because of Classical Musicians react (especially Yunyi and Kevin) I now cringe whenever someone disrespects a piano, whether that’s smashing it or standing on top of it.

I was doing great with the MV, but then they zoom in on Onew staring at that fox…my heart.
Agh, I don’t even want to talk about the fox, I’ll start crying again.

The Little Prince was jjong’s favorite book so to me, that’s him right there.
Also, he sort of guides them into the forest? I can’t with this MV!

            2
            0

Oh I had no idea about the fox. I’ve been reading the fan theories on the YouTube comments but it’s all been focusing on the chair (which there actually isn’t an extra one like many are saying) and the shadow (I’m not sure about this one. It’s definitely Taemin’s shadow but they could have been going for that effect of having 5 there).

          2
          1

Yeah, no, there’s no extra chair, but the fact that they left the chair empty is what gets me!
I’m sure the shadow was intentional, otherwise we’d see all the boys’ shadows too.
I’m supposed to be working so I haven’t had the time to go through YT’s comments, but I’m sure they’re interesting. The fox thing is quite ‘in your face’, though! Also, the fox has been usually used as a symbol of guidance in literature (like in the Little Prince) so I’m definitely sure of its usage there. Also, Key looking back while running before smiling and setting forth? Goosebumps (and tears)

            2
            0

There’s two empty chairs but Key is blocking the view of the other one. Him and Minho are standing.

Yeah the fox is a really good catch. I feel slightly ashamed having been an English major and missed that. 😅 lol

          1
          1

Yes, but the thing is that they block them while standing, while that one is visibly empty. Like, I don’t think it’s coincidental to have a ‘tight’ pose yet kind of shifting focus to that one chair. Does that make sense?
            I’m also an English major!

            1
            0

          Yeah true on the chairs.

I’m at the crossroads where I want to read Jonghyun into everything and also respect that maybe they don’t want to be defined by who is not there. But with this comeback, it is evident that Jonghyun was always on their minds, so the hints of him here and there are most likely spot on.

          2
          2

            Same!
I think it’ll be a ‘this comeback’ only kind of thing, though, since we all need to move on/forward.

            2
            0

Definitely for this 10 years comeback

            1
            0

I think there will almost always be hints of him at least in their group activities but probably more and more subtle as the years go by. They’re always going to be sort of bound to it because you know there will be those silly Shawols who the moment they “forget” him they’ll call them heartless. There are already fools who have been doing that.

I always hated the idea of them going into military but now I think they’ll appreciate that time out of the spotlight and when they get back they can have a sort of clean start.

          2
          1

There will always be people like that -_- I was just talking about their enlistment with a friend the other day, since Onew should be enlisting pretty soon, and I think you’re right, it’ll definitely be a time for them to rest from the spotlight.

            2
            0

On pianos, I always think of Victor Borge and him always telling the opera singers to get their hands off his piano lol.

This is the song that made me fall for Son Seungyeon\’s performances. It incorporated so many aspects of gugak music, from the song itself, to the instruments, to the dancers and to the call and reply of her voice and the instruments at the end of the performance.

I love the way Jungin rearranged Lee Seungchul\’s Western Sky. I felt that hers was the best of the episode, but it was too different from the original for the audience to vote for it.

    Fear (Omnos)

I am a fair, pretty girl
    Full of virtue and youthfulness
The forest’s flowers and songs I love
    Hey, pretty young girl
What are you doing in the forest alone
    So far from all beings?
    Hey, pretty young girl
What are you doing in the forest alone?

    Hey, handsome boy, come here!
    Let us pick some flowers
    in this forest together!

Now only the deep pond awaits me (x2)

I am not a boy, I am the bad wolf
    In the woods I hunt
Hunt for the flower of your youth
Well, wolf, let us play a game
Let us dance a joyful dance
    Let us sing decent songs!
I am not a boy, I am the bad wolf
    In the woods I hunt

    I don’t like children’s games
I like playing sinister wolf games
In the depths of the forest, with you

Now only the deep pond awaits me (x4)

Wild wolf, do whatever your heart longs for
But I beg you: Stay with me!

No, girl, I’m not staying with you and don’t love you!
    Never loved you!

I was a fair and pretty girl
Now I’m poor and overcome with shame

Now only the deep pond awaits me (x2)
