I know. What about artistic license? Although as an outsider, I know little of what offends the Korean citizens but I worry that Knetz arguing against this are just a small portion of the population but are by far the loudest. 😐
This is extreme cancel culture and an attack on creative freedom. I feel bad for the actors who were just beginning to reap the benefits of the show. Also the show is essentially about distorted history and how sth written in the scriptures may actually not be the real history. The fact that netizens believe it blindly is problematic too.
Yeah, I feel the same too. We should not blame writers and producers if they decide stick to cliché fluff that will just take inventory in the stock pile.
Sad the only thing we can be is bystanders.
These “netizens” peoples, Downunder aka Australia, wouldn’t be called netizens, they’d be called wowsers or to use today’s terminology, wankers. What a bunch of killjoys, distorting history indeed! Have they no imagination? Obviously Mr. Queen is fictional – let’s face it, anyone who believes a 21st century man went back in time four or five hundred years ago and is a woman is either stupid or they’re living in fantasy land!
How can this be distorting history? Is it purporting to be true? No. It’s a bit of fun. What country do these complaining wankers/netizens/wowsers come from? There is so big complaint about the new drama “Joseon Exorcist” – that’s been cancelled because the noodles were in a Chinese packet instead of a Korean packet or brand – something like that. Oh yes, and also because it too “distorted history”.
I was looking forward to both of these dramas. Damn! I was reading a discussion today somewhere online, and writers of some posts said they were hurt because non-Koreans who watch kdramas will think the noodle brand shown is Korean and might go out to buy them and they’re Chinese.
The entertainment industry in South Korea can’t be very strong if they let MOTGP illy them into pulling programs off air because they don’t like something about them. What a sad world when it is ruled by little people with small minds.

Apologies. There is no capability of editing ones comment for typos. The last paragraph in my above comment should read – The entertainment industry in South Korea can’t be very strong if they let MOTGP bully them into pulling programs off air because they don’t like something about them.
Besides the series was completed with high ratings and this issue did not gain ground while this was airing. I understand the issue with the original writer but that wasn’t enough at the time to cancel the show.
Most definitely. It is so unfortunate and sad that people are actually trying to limit their own freedom of expression. Mr. Queen was a hell of a fun drama which provided me laughs and entertainment in a very trying time and that is what art does. It provides us comfort, joy and also makes us think and reflect. As it is writers face so many hurdles in getting their work out there, to worry about blatant cancelling must be another headache for them

It’s getting out of hand! The type of cancel culture will kill creativity and expression freedom 🙁

History are written by the victors…true but this ‘holier than thou’ attitude is more worrying 😰

What’s with this retroactive recompensing?
