Does anyone know what those relaxation/calming pills are that characters in k-dramas are always taking? Is it actually a thing? I want some.

It’s a legit thing. In Korean, it’s called Cheongsimhwan (청심환), in Chinese, it’s called Angong Niuhuang Yuan (安宫牛黄丸), and it’s made up of a number of herbs made into a paste and formed into a gumball sized pill for you to chew and swallow. It supposedly helps with a various list of things, one of them being the nervous system, which is why it’s PPL-ed in dramas as something people take to calm nerves.
I’m pretty sure if you do a little bit of digging, you can get some off the internet. Maybe try Amazon??

Thank you so much! I was wondering if it had all natural ingredients since they seemed over-the-counter in k-dramas. I’m going to look into them more.

I know that I’m Canada, where I live, herbal meds (more considered as full on Chinese medicine, where traditional Korean medicine stems from) and organic meds is sold completely different and at different locations than western meds— apothecary verses pharmacy. It might be a different situation with SK and it’s ways of selling meds, over the counter or not, and it may be that SK pharmacies sell both, traditional already-packaged meds (i.e. over-the-counter meds) AND western prescribed/-over-the-counter meds 🤔🤔

I’m in the US, and Chinese medicine is sold separately as well. But I think in most places in China, both traditional and “pharmacy” meds are sold in one place. South Korea might be the same.

So when I googled it I found a link to someone’s twitter with photos of Jin taking it before a tv performance. Tidbit for BTS fans.
