Beanie level: Errand boy

So, before BTS makes a comeback, I thought I would just let everyone know that I’ve changed my attitude to them. That is, I’m not an Army or anything… I just now occasionally listen to their songs. And am casually excited for their comeback. 😅😁

I used to be quite annoyed with how popular and mainstream they are getting (it’s difficult to explain and they are really everywhere!), but now I’m fine (which is a great song by the way!). And it all started with “Spring Day”, so indeed, it’s The Queen! 😉

      Never!! I love Spring Day too :)))
      I like BTS~ I have my issues with some ARMYs (mostly due to my luck, the ones I’ve met in RL have been rude 🙁 but I know better than to judge the entire fandom~)
      Our Beanie ARMYs are such nice people too so its chill

    I understand what you mean by being quite annoyed about their popularity and how it felt like they were EVERYWHERE…. I get that feeling a little bit sometimes, too XD When something/someone is popular in S.Korea and it makes it’s way around the world, it can get quite daunting and overwhelming– which isn’t suprising, since the work of KNetz is pretty powerful, but it still doesn’t mitigate it lol

    Positive….Yanan’s back?
    I’ve only listened to this but was hoping I’d love it as the last album wasnt a favorite either.
    The weird thing is in this song the vocals sound boring. Pentagon has amazing and distinctive vocals so not sure why that happened.

      I’m sorry you didn’t like it. I wasn’t a big fan of “Naughty Boy”, but I loved all the side tracks on the last album.
      I think it might be because there is no space for the vocals to really shine? The chorus is full of different sounds (including background vocals), so the vocals don’t stand out that much.

        I think this songs problem is that I don’t get the Pentagon feel I’ve come to know and love which is strange because there are groups like Stray Kids and NCT–more the former than the latter–that are able to change up their styles but still be them. I think a really big positive for me was Yanan got brief moments to “shine.” Yay for Yanan.

          I think I get what you mean. I suppose Hui felt the need to try something different after “Naughty Boy” which wasn’t as successful as “Shine”. They’re doing their best to hit it big, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out…
          I am really happy for Yanan, his voice got a chance to shine. Too bad Kino can’t dance this comeback (he hurt his ankle).

          Anyways, I hope you give a listen to the rest of the album. There’s a rock song (written by Kino) called “Spring Snow” about the good times of the Shine era (it snowed on the day they shot the Shine MV). And the last song – “Round 1” is a diss track. 😂 It still sounds so cute though… The members are dissing each other and it’s hilarious.

            Do you mean the album cover? I think it’s both keeping with the name of the album (Genie:us, therefore the “G”) and also showing that someone’s missing now (so a nod to E’Dawn, yes).

            Pentagon even changed their official logo on social networks after E’Dawn left. It’s still a pentagon, but there were dots in it before symbolising the members…

I\’m back from my trip to the UK!
Thank you again for all your lovely advice, Beanies. I had a fun time and visited London and Cambridge (no Bath after all). I\’m definitely going to visit the UK again! 😉

    Was it too cold in London? I’m going there in March. And will visit Cambridge too. And (of course) the Old Trafford as well ☺

      It depends on what you define as cold… It was around 6 degrees maybe? In the morning it was raining and it was really cold, we had to go to a café because I was almost frozen. But it was warmer during the day.
      I hope March weather is nicer! 😊

      Have fun! I’m not big on sports, so I haven’t been to the Old Trafford, but Cambridge was really beautiful.

Hi everyone!
My exams are finally over! I haven\’t been watching dramas much lately, but I\’ve been reading! (I\’ve borrowed Anna Karenina from the library, let\’s see if I finish it! 🙈)

The real question here: On Tuesday I\’m going to the UK for a week-long vacation and I was wondering if you had any tips or ideas about places to visit or things to do.
I\’ll be also visiting London for two days. What would you recommend seeing or doing there? I\’m a poor student, so I\’m on budget, but share anything with me!

    Congratulations on finishing exams! I tried to read anna karenina, I couldn’t finish it. I didn’t even make it a third into the story!

    What other places are you visiting in the UK?

    If you download the app todaytix you can buy cheap theatre tickets for London west end. Try the official london tickets website too. Visit the globe theatre, I think you can buy 5 pound standing tickets for a Shakespeare play.
    There are some really cool vintage/records stores in shoreditch/brick lane or Camden.
    Piccadilly circus is fun too, you can walk down to Chinatown and explore soho.
    If you like shopping you could go Oxford street or Westfields Stratford/white city.
    All the Art galleries & museums are free to enter; National portrait gallery, tate modern,the British museum, natural history museum.
    I quite like walking along the southbank or in the royal parks.

    It might be worth getting an oyster card so you can use the buses &the tube. If you make 2 bus journeys within an hour , you are only charged for the first journey-£1.50.

    I’d avoid traveling on the tube during rush hour because it is crowded & more expensive to travel. You can use tfl website to plan what you want to go. Avoid trains from 7am-9:30am, 4pm-7pm..

      Thank you! I wouldn’t start Anna Karenina on my own, but my sister has read it and said it was really well-written.

      I’ll be staying in Corby, my aunt was living there for a time and she has friends there. We might also visit Peak District and possibly Bath, but I’m not really sure yet.

      Thank you for all the tips! The tfl website is really helpful. I’ll have to cut my stay in London short to just one day after all, so I won’t get to see or do much, but I’m planning to visit London again and I’m saving this for future reference!

        Bath is a beautiful town if you get to visit, lovely architecture.
        Honestly I just like walking around London, there is always something to see and do!

        If you are only staying in London for one day , I would just get a day travelcard not an oyster card, it will cover you for buses and trains

    Ooh let me know how you like Anna Karenina…I have watched the movie version so I’ll probably never read the book…but I do need to read more Russian literature as I haven’t really read any of their novels other than short stories

    And yay UK vacation travel 😀 hope you have a fun time and safe flights! I’m a foodie and I highly recommend Nando’s chicken which seems to only be available in UK/Ireland within Europe. We actually have locations in a couple of US states so I have tried it and it is so good 😀

      Sure! When I finish it… I kinda have a thing for Russian literature. At least some of it. (Eugene Onegin has a special place in my heart. I think it’s just Pushkin’s writing.)

I started watching Dance Sport Girls yesterday (because procrastination!) and I love it so much.

I suddenly want to start dancing too, but I\’m not very good and too lazy to start. Anyways, the cinematography!

I shouldn\’t rewatch my favourite dramas. I don\’t like Doctor Kim or Yoon Seo Jeong in Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim anymore. They both seem too unrealistic, too perfect without a single fault, while Kang Dong Joo is the one who makes all the mistakes.

The whole conflict suddenly seems too two-dimensional: the good perfect humanists of Doldam Hospital versus the bad corrupt individualists of Goedae Hospital.

And I don\’t think it\’s right to leave out something important during an operation just because you\’re operating on a rapist. Plus nobody knew for sure the patient was a rapist. Doctors are not judges.

This used to be my favourite drama. I\’m not sure if I overlooked this all the first time around or if I\’ve changed, but not anymore. I\’ve been enjoying it so much and now I have nothing to watch…

    I still haven’t decided whether I should drop it or not. I still like Kim Sabu, but the rest ugh…

      The romance was nice. (There were some good and funny moments I was looking forward to!) And Kim Sabu was epic. Plus there’s still Kang Dong Joo’s character development (one of the best things about the whole drama).

      I really enjoyed the drama the first time around. *sigh*

I\’m done with the first half of exams this semester (I still have some left in January), so I\’ve decided to rewatch Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim (because why should I keep watching Alhambra when I can start something else, right? 😛 ). The first time I watched this was two years ago in January, so I always get reminded of it this time of year. I\’m really enjoying it! (Can\’t wait for that ship to sail!)

I am so out of loop with the recent dramas, so shoot, what\’s good?
(Not that I\’ll have the time to watch it, but anyways… 😅 I\’m just feeling a bit social. 🙈)

    Sky Castle may be the best show of 2019.
    But it’s dark satire and often extremely intense and a bit brutal.
    I recommend but I wouldn’t call it a fun watch.

    Just Dance/ Dance Sports Girls is excellent: fun, heartwarming and so cute. It’s an underrated little gem. Also, it’s only 8 episodes so a perfect holiday watch.

I started Memories of Alhambra and it is fun! I love the plot twists – I had forgotten the screenwriter was the author of \”W\” – and surprisingly I don\’t dislike Jin Woo as much as I initially did!

I\’ve seen only three episodes so far, so no spoilers please. 🙂

    I like it as well! Key is a great dancer; I think we tend to forget that because in SHINee he performs with Taemin. I’m glad he’s getting solo opportunities.

        Yeah! I agree with this 100%. I tend to think he’s one of the smartest active idols. He’s also pretty good at Japanese.

        By the way, for some reason this is very familiar to me. The beginning, for instance, reminds me of James TW’s “When You Love Somebody”.

          He is good at Japanese! I’ve seen a skit where he was supposed to pretend he was speaking Japanese, but he used actual Japanese.

          I don’t know that song, but the beat reminds me a lot of “I Want You” or “Good Evening”. And the song does have elements I’ve heard in other songs recently, but it’s still refreshing.

I am at third episode of Devilish Joy, but I can’t bear to watch Hoya get his heart broken! He’s such a puppy, he doesn’t deserve that! How am I supposed to watch knowing he’s the second lead?!
