Damn awesome. I wish to see her working outside more than in the police station.

    4
    1

Same, she is smarter than the three officers combined and they are treating here like an errand girl. >_<

      3
      1

I seriously hate when I see them taking her for granted but I do understand that in past things were like that so I get so happy when she hits the jackpot being a smarter one. She is always one step ahead from them.

        1
        1

Agreed, it’s hard for women workers during those times and I’m glad Han Tae-joo is treating her the way she deserves to be treated. And it looks like maknae officer is crushing on her. ^^

          1
          6

Maknae officer is so cute 😀 and his Kimchi logic. 😀

            0

@mimu1234 He is! ^^ Hahaha his kimchi logic, and then Captain DongCheol actually ate the kimchi lol That was another hilarious scene.

            0

Tae joo was shocked to see Dong cheol eating that kimchi. 😀 😀
Thank god I’m not missing out on this amazing drama. I’m loving all the characters.

Same! I decided to watch because of the cast and had no expectations whatsoever (didn’t watch the original drama) but I’m loving the drama so far.

            1
            0

I liked the first 2 episodes so much that I was not able to resist reading about the original drama on wiki. -_-

            1
            0

Episode 1 was bloody and so OCN, I loved it! I better read the original source material then while waiting for new episodes.

            0

Do you also have a gif of that moment when she was checking her shoes afterward the perp was taken away and the 2 men went automatically covering their “sensitive” areas! Cuz that was hilarious! 😄

And I love how proud Capt. DongCheol is of her after. ^^

Omg, yes! Jang Ki-young is killing it! So is Jin Ki-joo and everyone else. Lady reporter is making my blood boil I want to kill her. And that ending! I didn’t expect it, I’m not complaining though. ^^

      1

I know! It took me by surprise! I’m about to see the next ep. and then … post galore!
And Jang Ki-young is the soul of this drama … he merely looks and his face reveals EVERYTHING you cannot express with words … he has definitely won my admiration!

+1 I feared it might be too dark for me but but if it’s JBL vibes I might check it out later , thx Giegie 🙂 and also other Beanies posting about it 🙂

Yesss, check it out when you have time. It’s really good, and I forgot to add the actors (young and adult) are killing it!

@kudoran Leads will really remind you of GangDoo & MoonSoo. Both are suffering from PTSD because of their tragic past, which unfortunatelly is caused by lead guy’s father. Watch it so we can spazz about it. ^^

I’ll watch it this weekend , hoping I’ll be hooked right away just like with JBL first eps 🙂 *I might listen to JBL ost now that I’m talking about it “I know it feels like you’re gone….”JBL my love finger hearts*
side note : I realized I also started Mother thanks to one of your posts Giegie 🙂 , I’ll trust you again on that one 😉

        1

          Now I feel pressured! 🙃
But seriously the drama is good, I really hope you’ll like it. Don’t let the psychopath father scare & creep you out & stay at least untill episode 3. Also, Nam Da-reum (who played young GangDoo) is playing young Jang Ki-young’s character. 😉

          I miss JBL’s ost! ^^

          2
          2

no need to feel pressured, that’s for the writer hahaha 🙂 . I saw posts so I know Nam Da Reum plays the young character : another strong reason to start this drama 🙂

My concern when hearing about the show was that it would be TOO like JBL, and I’m so happy to say that it is indeed like it, but still differentiates itself to be beautiful in its’ own right. I’m a happy (crying) camper.

    2

    What was the second one?

Live’s Bubble Couple. I was shipping Shin Dong-wook ang Jung Yu-mi but she ended up with Lee Kwang-soo. Sigh.

      2
      1

Awww 🙁 I saw that couple on the fan walls! Ever since I know those pictures of them blowing bubbles together, I gently shipped it. Sorry to hear it didn’t make it..

        *hugs*

        2
        1

Thankfully the drama’ s focus was not on the romance so I was able to accept it by the time I reached the finale episode. It took me two weeks before watching it though and I did skip JY & LKS’s sweet scenes. Lol.

          Thanks for the hugs. :*

          1
          2

They do a really good job of making you root for the main couple in this one though. I think in ep 7 it started to seem like Ban Do and Nara (forgot the character’s name) should end up together.
The second lead was super sweet though.

    4
    2

Yup, agree. I really liked how it was handled towards the end.

      3
      0

I’m sure my mind is going to change in the later episodes because although I’m rooting for Nam-gil at this moment I feel bad for their son, and I still want Ban-do and Min-joo to get back together, which is the purpose of their time travel. It’s just that Nam-gil is so sweet and swoon-worthy but I know he’s not gonna get the girl and I already feel bad for him. :(*

Haven’t watched this drama, but…how can anyone say no to that face!! <3

    3
    2

When is Nam Da-reum going to have his own drama?

24
12

    He’s so good in this!

    4
    0

He’s getting there! 15 right now, no? Kim So Hyun started getting her lead roles around the same time – but she’s good at playing older, while he can play a bit younger if necessary. But I can’t wait for his lead role!

    2
    1

Yes, he is 15 but I think he’s old and talented enough to carry his own drama. He’s just so talented!

      2
      1

Oh, yes! I absolutely think he is capable enough, I was just thinking that he does physically look quite young, still. Maybe a coming-of-age drama for him?

        1
        1

He needs a coming-of-age school drama that’s a little dark, like Solomon’s Perjury. I guess this kind of fits the bill, but without the present time-line. He’s soooo talented.

    3
    1

My thoughts exactly! Or like Delphy mentioned below School 2018 minus romance?

      0
      0

Maybe School 2018? Haha… have not watched any of the school series though.

    1
    1

I’d love to see him in School 2018 but without romance please. 😀 I have watched School ‘13, ‘15 & ‘17. School ‘13 has epic bromance (best school drama imo) while romance and writing ruined ‘15, and ‘17 is just soso.

      2
      1

Haha I can imagine him to be good at romance though, since he’s been playing the childhood version of JBL, while you were sleeping and radio romance.

        2
        1

And now in Come Here and Hug Me. ^^
He’s doing a good job as young Jang Ki-young. I’d be okay with/without romance then. Lol.

Yup, but hopefully second lead gets the girl in this drama. Good thing I’m not shipping Sae-woo with either guys, and honestly the only thing that keeps me watching is Chil-sung. I got bored watching this week’s episodes. :/

      2

      1

Yep, it’s when he, his dad & the lead girl (can’t remember her name) got stuck in the elevator and he saw them hugging each other. His face in this scene is so funny. 😆

        1
        2

hahahaha I remember that scene now! ^^; *feels the need to watch Bitter Blood again* but I guess I should check out a more recent work, the last I watched was the post and the devil role back in ’16, I think. Any recs? For a 17-18 work.

          1
          6

The whole elevator scene is so funny.:D I wish Bitter Blood had a second season, it’s such a fun show & I really enjoyed the twist & turns in their final case. If Cat’s Disappeared movie, right? Is it good? His recent drama is a daily one, no subs available though. Did you watch his 2015 drama The Emperor’s Cook? It’s a well received drama according to wiki.

            1
            0

Er.. I didn’t actually like Neko ga keita nara (cats) – but it may just have been my mood. AND yes, I love the Emperor’s Cook! It’s one of my all time favs. Also, Takeru is a revelation there – I think he really took that role and made it his own. No other actor could have done it as well as he. And I don’t say this all the time, I sincerely mean it.

            1
            0

Ohhh really? I was going to watch that movie after my Liar obsession, I’ll go with Emperor’s Cook then. I watched a youtube clip of him & Haruma Miura the other day and he was a bad cook, lol. Glad to know he did well as a cook in Emperor.

            1
            0

Oh now you MUST watch The Emperor’s Cook. He practised cooking for months in prep for his role. Sacrificed bags of onions to get the knife scenes just right. It’s crazy. Do check out some of his promotions/interviews for the drama. He’s an AMAZING cook after the show. ^^

            1
            0

Will do, thanks for the recommendation. This is funny, you asked for a recs but you ended up recommending instead. 😅 I’m sorry. I did watch his scifi movie Real but it’s an okay movie, predictable plot & didn’t really like it. His other movie, SOmeday is already out with subs but I haven’t seen it yet.

            1
            0

HAHAHAHA no worries AT ALL. ^^ I’m so happy to be discussing him anyway.

I’ve seen Real as well. I may have slept through it. :/ Someday? Okay I’ll see if I can find it. ^^ There’s that demon one he’s doing as well. Gosh its an adaptation of a manga but for the life of me I cannot recall the name. Ajin? Djin?

            1
            0

It’s Ajin something, can’t remember the complete title. He also has a movie with his Ruruoni Kenshin co-star Tao, the granddaugther of The Watchers leader in RK. I’ve seen a promotional clip of the movie & they’re so funny, subs are not out yet though. In a couple months maybe.

          1
          1

Oh!I didn’t know of this movie! Thanks.
LOL the issue with subs in Japanese is always the waiting. Korean movies as well, but I think Korean pop culture (movies included) is more popular so we get them quicker.

Surprise: Junho’s character contracts a very severe E. Coli infection due to improper handling of raw meat. This results in kidney failure and he dies. This drama title isn’t a lie and it actually is a melo. Sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Junho’s characters just have bad luck with their kidneys.

      4
      1

I realize now that Gang-doo had liver issues and not kidney issues.

        Well. You get my point.

Well E.coli affects liver severely also after intestine.so he might have liver issues here too.
          Sorry for being too technical

I am obssessed with The Liar & His Lover (Japanese movie)! Takeru Satoh is ❤️.

Hello all! It’s been a week since I last posted on DB, how is everyone doing? ^^

14
23

    Welcome back 🙂
I just rewatched this movie a few days ago , and I’m sooo in love with it , I even have the OST on repeat since then , and Takeru Satoh is way better than the guy ( forgot his name lol ) in the Korean drama , he’s such a great actor , he’s got me interested in Japanese movies, well overall this was much better than the drama ,I was about to cry in this movie , I wanna rewatch it again now !

    4
    2

      Thank you! ^^
Agreed! I love Lee HyunWoo but Takeru Satoh is better. I’ve been rewatching the film since two days ago and now I want to rewatch it again. OST is ❤️❤️❤️!

I try to watch TLHL drama but I can’t stand in for more than 4 episode. I’ve tried so hard but fail, the movie effect was so great in my mind and my hubby even said that there is noone can remake this movie cause the main lead doing great job and TS charm is dominates. Althought I watch the ending to see how the drama conclude.
Even I read the manga after watching this.

      2
      0

Oh! Okay so I’m not fond of this movie, but I absolutely love Satoh Takeru. I think he’s one of the most versatile actors (of the younger lot ofc) in Japan atm, and can really take each role and make it unique. ^^ I’ve caught a TON of his work, so I’m definitely a fan and may be more than a little biased but there you have it.

His samurai in Kenshin vs his samurai in Ryoumaden. Very different shows/movies ofc but even so.
His everyday guy in Bitter Blood vs his everyday guy in Tonbi.
His exceptional performance in Tenno no Ryoriban.
    Hehehe
    Hehehe somebody stop me. ^^;

    4
    1

I didn’t like the romance part of the movie that much(minor & adult :/) but it’s so beautifully shot and the music is addictive. All characters are likable as well. And both Aki & Riko know how to play guitar, which is my greatest weakness! I love characters who play musical instruments. ^^
I’ve only seen Rurouni Kenshin trilogy before(my favorite Japanese movies btw) and as much as I liked Battosai I was not that much of TS fan. But I watched Bitter Blood last Thursday and his naive, goofy & crybaby character made me fall in love with him, which led me to watch TLAHL and fell more for him. Watched Real next & rewatched Rurouni after. So yeah, I am not just obsessed with TLAHL movie, I’m also head over heels Takeru Satoh. Lol. 😍

Glad to know you’re doing okay inspite of everything that happened APAD related last week, my shipper heart is still bleeding *sobs* but I’m not as heartbroken now as I was last Tuesday. 3

The last episode will air the day of my biggest test, so I was thinking I’d watch them afterwards… But if they’re depressing or boring like the others have been saying, I’m not sure I want the eps for my reward..

😂 I just hope you don’t turn the tables and lament about how long 50 eps really is. JCW’s pouty face and Sunyang’s fire will keep drawing you in. 🤞

        1

I doubt that will happen. Like I said above the show is so pretty I could watch it for its cinematography & production design alone! Plus I’m such a sucker for revenge/romance genre, and I love JCW to bits. 😍 Oh, and the drama has strong female characters, I love it! So no worries… 😉

The expansive shots of the palace from above and the costuming were gorgeous. I didn’t mind if it was historically inaccurate because I was feasting my eyes (JCW too! 💖) There’s plenty of romance and revenge (heee let the manipulation continue) to enjoy and Empress Ki is one of the strongest characters I’ve seen so far in any drama (she’s physically, artistically and mentally skilled, it’s like the talent trifecta).

Day & night shots of Palace are so gorgeous, beautufully lit and full of bright colors. Most sageuks are not accurate anyway, historically speaking. I’ll just enjoy the romance and beauty parts of the show. I got bored of the battle scenes between Batulo & Wang Yu though, but I liked that Batulo is a woman. They will meet again in future episodes, right?
Did you watch The King 2 Hearts? Her character in the drama is similar to her character in EK. Sageuks suit her really well, I didn’t really like in rom/com.

Yes that’s what I ended up enjoying too! I fastforwarded Batulo’s fighting scenes because it dragged for so long- she did not look like a Turk at all but she does appear in the future. Wang Yu’s intelligence was pointed out so I guess the point of it all was to show his leadership and deduction skills. No I haven’t watched King 2 Hearts. I was introduced to Han Ji Won in Secret Garden and then The Time We Were Not In Love (which was ok but not incredible) so seeing her in Empress Ki where she shined was amazing.

@fencejumper Check out K2H if you have time, it’s really worth watching. I couldn’t finish TTWWNIL, badly written show. Such a shame because In Time With You is one of my favorite non kdramas.
