Beanie level: Errand boy

Wedding Impossible Episode 5 has been the first one with a little epilogue scene just after the ending.
I have checked the previous episodes just in case I had missed other hidden scenes.

Don’t miss the credits!

Here there are some k-dramas which have hidden contents in the credits of almost all the episodes. I think it’s good to know it before starting a show. (Some people I know had missed all the hidden scenes in Start-up when they first watched it).

So…

_ When the weather is fine.
_ Start-up.
_ Crash Landing on You.
_ The Best hit.
_ Age of Youth.
_ Live Up to your name (last episode).
_ Eun Joo’s room.

The dreaded Epilogue- it’s trained me to keep watching. Now I just need to remember all of the shows with it

When I started watching k-dramas Start-up and Crash landing on you were some of the first I watched, so I thought that hidden (and quite meaningful) scenes were something usual in Dramaland. Later I realized those shows were the exception, but since then I always watch the end credits just in case 😅

    Gaus Electronics! They’re so funny.

Good to know, especially as someone who doesn’t like watching previews for the next episode and so tends to stop watching the instant an episode ends. Mixed Up Investigation Society is another one to add to the list.

Does Flower that Blooms at Night also count?

    2
    2

I am not watching that drama, but if it has something hidden in the credits, it definitely counts.

In When the weather is fine the things hidden in the credits were not extra scenes, but the ML’s thoughts and lines he had written in his diary. And in the last episode there was a lovely message for the audience too.

The “unfinished stories” in Knight Flower don’t count because they come before the credits. 😉

Roundup 2023. Day 30. Free.

The Special Award “Fully watched twice in less than two months”. Last year it was Live up to your name.
This year it has been Someday or One Day, that almost perfect masterpiece. First time I watched it alone, and then I watched it with company.

    The original and the best

I dropped the remake after two episodes and then I rewatched the Taiwanese 😅
Maybe I’ll watch the Korean adaptation in some months… Maybe the original was too recent… I had just finished it.

I hope Greg Hsu is doing okay. He’s one of the very, very few— might actually be the only one… At least the only one whom I saw— foreign (non Korean) celebrities who paid tribute to LSK, and who actually made it out and attended the funeral as well. Seems like they knew each other personally in some way 🥺🥺

I can’t bring myself to watch the remake, because, as you say, the original was practically perfect and I don’t know why anyone would want to mess with that.

It is a tough watch. Guess having company the second time helped. It is indeed a worthy rewatch.

Roundup 2023. Day 29. Free style.

The last drama I have FINISHED this year: The Matchmakers. 9 ⭐. This is a good way to end the year.

The last drama I have STARTED this year: Castaway Diva (2/12).

Roundup 2023. Day 28. Free style. Best documentary released in 2023.

(Really there is no contest, because I have watched very few Korean documentaries 😅).

“Walking on the tidal flats with Yoon Shi Yoon”.

Here Shi Yoon shows the beautiful nature and landscapes in the place he was born, Suncheon (South Jeolla).

Roundup 2023. Day 27. Best parents.

K-Dramaland is full of awful parents, but sometimes we find the loveliest parents too. This year the winners are Yi Chan and Cheong-ah from Twinkling Watermelon.

Runner up: Kim Myung Joon, the male lead in The Kidnapping Day.

I always watched the end credits because of this song.

Roundup 2023. Day 22. Free choice. Best cinematography.

The best cinematography this year (imo) goes to three dramas:

The Matchmakers. The light in this show is beautiful, somehow it reminds me of the Mediterranean light. It’s really impressive and there are plenty of outdoors locations too. It’s a joy to watch.

My Dearest cinematography was outstanding in each and every frame.

Call it Love. I’m not a fan of the pink filter, but it’s undeniable that it is a stylish show.

I’m listening to an instrumental theme called Fish in the pool by Hekuto Pascal (found by chance in Instagram) and… this is being used in a recent drama, isn’t it?

3

It certainly sounds like music that would be good in a drama!

    2
    1

In fact, I’m pretty sure I have listened to it in a drama 😅 (and if it wasn’t the same, it was too similar).

      2

@IsaGC I agree. It sounds very, very familiar.

Was it in My Dearest? Maybe it wasn’t a sageuk.
I’m scratching my head because I want to know where and when I have heard it before 😅

          1

I honestly don’t know if it was My Dearest or anything else before that. I seriously can’t place it! Like you mentioned, it just sounds sooooo similiar to something that perhaps we’ve heard before. Who knows!

Roundup 2022. Day 22. Best cameo.
Thinking of new dramas only, I have to pick Kang Ha Neul in The Kidnapping Day. It was an unexpected and funny appearance. Very short but important role!

Roundup 2023. Day 21. The OST you are obsessed with.

Ok, several things to say here, because I spend a lot of time listening to Asian dramas OSTs.

_ I love Twinkling Watermelon OST, songs and instrumental themes. This is probably my favorite k-drama soundtrack this year.

_ Another gem would be My Dearest OST. “With my heart” is so beautiful!

_ One of my favorite songs is “Lie to me”, from Unlock my boss.

_ But the OST I have been listening to over and over again is Fake It till you make it. There is something so relaxing and soothing and chic in these songs…

_ My other obsessions this year: Meet Yourself main theme (Go Somewhere windy), Reset main theme (My only), New Life Begins (To taste), and the full OST from Someday or One day.

Roundup 2023. Day 20. Kisses.

If I have to pick a steamy kiss I go with Alchemy of Souls 2 🔥🕯🪔

But if I have to pick my most awaited kiss 🫠, I choose the first one between Shi Yeol (Kang Hoon) and Hong Joo (Jo Hye Joo) in Secret Romantic Guesthouse. They were my most shipped couple in that drama and one of my favorites in 2023, and I was looking forward to their kiss. It was a tender one, and at the same time more painful than happy, because of their personal circumstances.

Roundup 2023. Day 19. Tropes.

The winner of best use of tropes this year is The Matchmakers (I still haven’t watched this week’s episodes. I am trying to make time today).

And special mention to The Kidnapping Day. If kidnappings are a trope, then here we have a reversed trope because the kidnapped person was the one who leads the way and/or has the final say most of the time 😅

Roundup 2023. Day 18. Favorite villain.

It wasn’t a year which gave us memorable villains imo. I’m not a fan of villains, but sometimes I can find one who is charismatic.
This year I don’t know what to say.

Maybe the aliens in Duty after school… but were they the real villains in the show? Or the villain was the pressure on Korean students because of the entrance exam?

10
1

Yeah, it wasn’t really a year of interesting villains. Obnoxious, one-note, over-the-top villains, yes, but not complicated, nuanced, dynamic ones.

Roundup 2023. Day 17. Oldie (non 2023) you loved the most.

This year I have watched 46 older dramas (released before 2023) and some of them are gems to me.

If I have to pick only one, I choose Prison Playbook (2017), a drama I watched in January and absolutely loved.

I need to mention some more: Someday or One Day (Taiwan. 2019), Psychopath Diary (Korea. 2019), Hospital Playlist 1&2 (Korea. 2020-21), Fated to love you (Korea. 2014), Reset (China. 2022), Signal (Korea. 2016), Mirror of the Witch (Korea. 2016)…

Roundup’23. Day 16. A guilty pleasure.
It has to be Bora Deborah. A drama many beanies started but only a few of them finished and even less liked it.
The ending wasn’t great but I enjoyed the ride.

13
6

If you liked it, why should others not liking it make you feel guilty?

The only thing I might feel guilty for, is watching variety show clips on YouTube for the 10th time instead of m house chores! And if it makes me laugh like crazy I won’t feel guilty for that either!

    4
    1

Well, I don’t really feel guilty but I think that’s the prompt today 😅

(I have also watched some clips from 2D&1N season 3 a few times instead of doing more “important” tasks 🤭).

        I’m skipping today’s prompt because I don’t really know what I should answer…
