    The second lead who is designed to carry a mix of red and green flags (making him a giant brown flag, I suppose) and who, somehow, has made his mission to protect the ex that didn’t ask for anything. Surely, there might be another girl in South Korean who may want to date you, my good man.

    We’ve also got the one-thought-only bad guy, the eternal threat (Eom-ji’s brother) who could attack out of nowhere at any point… and he will never ever question the facts and continue to assume that his own thoughts are all the proof he needs. It’s a new take on Descartes, I think therefore I am. I think [you killed someone], therefore you are [a murderer].

Translation is a thankless job, I know. But this is the first time I am distracted by an otherwise decent translation with the use of inappropriately modern terms : giddy up, snowflake (instead of jade dust), come hither. And just now, \’toodles\’.

I am sorry, but this show became a full blown comedy to me due to the translation. #secretromanticguesthouse

    Don’t know if you watch c-dramas but they have the most hilarious subtitles sometimes. Currently watching a xianxia drama where the leads, in full historical attire, say things like “be there or be square” 😅.

    The English subs where I watch it always use the term “jade dust”.
    As English is not my first language probably I don’t notice that other words are anachronistic.

Secret Romantic Guest House mid ep 1. I am already afraid I\’d get SLS or TLS on this one. Kang Hoon is the only actor here that I watched before , thus I am probably pre-conditioned to like him. He is not the first male lead to get introduced, so he is probably not the ML. Seeing that he is the first one to meet the adult FL, it already feels like a set-up for a heart-breaking SLS. And yes, childhood connection is the trope I disliked the most.

      Yeah seconding the Kang Hoon love 🥰 It’s not that the other’s are bad or far behind by miles or anything BUT, for me at least, Kang Hoon is the glue holding the acting together amongst our protagonists, as each week progresses especially.

      Petition to make Kang Hoon the ML in a drama in the very near future, pls drama gods 🙏

Been in drama slump for a while until I found Queen and I (Queen In Hyun\’s Man) based on beanie comments. Loving it so far! Never felt this fluttery since DYLB!.

There are days when my son is difficult to love. Daily meltdowns and daily screaming for reasons we do not understand.

But today he is laughing and giggling with only pure joy in his eyes.

The ending of May I Help You is proof that the writers went on strike and a high schooler wrote the last 4 eps. The last hour cheap tricks to milk tears out of the audience failed big time.

    Yup. Once they started cannibalizing significant characters to provide ghosts, it went downhill in the manner of a certain truck. The Dad storyline should never have happened and then was dragged out absurdly long. I saw a bunch of comments online saying “oh, I cried buckets” or similar and I was just bored.

      I just forwarded the Dad scenes. I counted this as a bean already so I had to finish this. Such a waste because until ep 12 I was praising this drama for its sensitive handling of the death stories.

    Yikes. I’m glad I gave up on this one early. I’ve had more than my fair share of recent whiplash from cheer up and summer strike.
