Beanie level: Noble idiot

Didn’t know what to watch, so I’m rewatching Shopping King Louis on Netflix. I must say I definitely like cute and hilarious drama.

Me too. Do you like Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Chief Kim, Thirty but Seventeen, Suspicious Partner, and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim as well?

I love Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo ! For the rest, I wanted to watch Suspicious Partner, and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim but someone told me they were not that good so I didn’t dare to start fearing I’d be disapointed…

What made them say that those dramas were bad? I take it you haven’t heard about the other two then?

Don’t know precisely, just that the beginning was good but not the last episodes… And, yes, I don’t know the other two. Which one would you recommand?

          2

I’d recommend both Chief Kim (accounting has never been so hilarious and engaging!) and Thirty but Seventeen (super sweet and poignant!).

I adore WWWSK. The ending was pretty good actually. Some people found that it dragged a bit coming to the end and could have been a 14 eps drama instead of 16. I can see where they’re coming from, but I liked the extra screen time I got for my OTP. To me the drama made sense, the two leads had chemistry, and it had some funny moments.

Suspicious Partner had a good few issues well, so I would say that of all the dramas I listed, this could be the most skippable one. For all its faults, I do still adore the drama though.

Chief Kim has a lot of heart! It has some pretty funny moments, and some not–because I don’t always appreciate Korean humor. Junho absolutely killed it in this. I didn’t know who he was at the time and I swore he was a veteran actor. I doesn’t have a love story as part of the main focus like the others on that list, but, it’s still very much worth it.

30 but 17 is adorable. It might be the closest to WFKBJ based on the aforementioned dramas.

I agree Suspicious Partner wasn’t that great. What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim was pretty good. I haven’t seen Chief Kim although I’ve heard really good things about.
30 but 17 is one of my favorite dramas from last year! Go watch it! It’s sweet and heartwarming.

Okay, I will try 30 but 17 first then. There isn’t any sad and tragic moments, right? Because I tend to get depressed during winter haha so I really do need funny and fluffy, sweet and heartwarming stories ^^

          1

It starts off a little sad because the main character is in a car accident and wakes up from her coma 13 years later. That’s why she’s 30 but 17. Even though it starts off kind of sad, I would say it was one of the most heartwarming shows of the year.

Suspicious Partner was the best drama of 2017!

You liked it that much huh? I don’t remember what I watched in 2017 but I don’t think SP would be at the top of my list. Why did you like it so much?

I don’t love it love it. It just had some really cute moments. I’m a sucker for cute–and JCW. 😂 Some of it was just blah though.

Ah. I see. I like both JCW and NJH but for some reason I didn’t really like them together… I liked them both more in other things.

NJH is a phenomenal actor. I thought she was much older than she was the first time I saw her.

      – Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo one of my fav’ drama <3
      – Chief Kim one of my fav' drama <3 (best bromance couple)
      – Thirty but Seventeen : haven't watched it
      – Suspicious Partner dragged in the 2nd half, the baddie was interesting at least
      – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim : boring , full of cliche, dropped near ep6 or 7 don't remember

Won't comment any further, to each their own, as long as we enjoy watching dramas ^^

@ Juti you can check To.Jenny (2ep), Splash Splash love (2ep), Speedy scandal (it's a movie)

I watched Splash splash love and I really liked it. Kim Seul‑gi is amazing, I watched SSL because of her, because I loved her in Oh my ghostess! I don’t know To.Jenny and Speedy scandal… I just briefly check To.Jenny. It’s about music, right?

To.Jenny features an aspiring singer so yeah it’s about music ^^

Wow that sounds dreadful lol so far I was able to find funny and clever moments. Not the best show but entertaining enough. But it seems that I should prepare myself to be disappointed :/

It’s the little things like this that make me wish the show was better. You can see a good show peeking through, but it just doesn’t quite get there.

Currently watching Strongest Deliveryman, thanks @midnight! Kang-soo makes me think of a male version of Ae-ra, but definitely more extreme. This last scene, really! He is the ultimate psycho.

          3

I have never been able to give a flat rating. But honestly I only liked the first third of FMW, so SD felt especially good. Good and grounded main story and side stories, solid actors with believable charaters all around, So perhaps a 7 or 8.

Lee. Min. Ki. Is SO HOT. Thats all. Goodness gracious. GOODNESS GRACIOUS. WHY SO HOT, LEE MIN KI? He’s just…mighty attractive, that one. Goodness. Goodness. Goodness.

    3
    2

haha you are so blunt about it, it’s refreshing. ^^ Well, I agree with you, there is something charming about him. I discovered Lee Min-Ki in this drama and d***, I wished he had stayed longer. Only two episodes… that was enough to make me like him but not quite to be satisfied regarding Byun-Hee, his character was awesome.

      2
      0

I normally don’t care for any sort of makeup on guys, even just eyeliner. It’s not that I DISlike it, it just doesn’t do anything for me.

But Lee Min-ki in SUFBB makes me feel Things and I think that says a lot.

      1
      1

Wasn’t he putting it himself in the drama saying something like it’s a charm or an armor, or was it his essence? ^^

        1
        1

I’m probably in the minorest minority here, but I have always thought that Byun-Hee kept the band together by sheer force of character and charisma. But it wasn’t until after he left that the members started actually flourishing and shining one by one.

    1
    1

Well, I don’t think that’s all that but I guess you are right to think that way. To me, they were all kids then and I think they did and keep doing music “together” because of Byun-hee. He became a symbol that helped them not get lost after his death and then they started to grow up and found themselves (like you said “flourishing and shining”). I think Byun-Hee was central figure in their friendship and the trigger for their coming age.
