To be a « public figure » in South Korea must be beyond hard! Before the android and social media inventions their life must have been more easier. I just can’t and don’t understand how can some people think that the image of some actors, entertainers, singers, etc. is their possession, that they own them and can do whatever with them, for them or against them. They call themselves fans but are they? Really?!!! At the end there is a real human being behind that presented image with dreams, hardships, desires, personal development or failures like anyone else among us. What right do we have to criticize, shame and dictate them what they’re allow to do, feel and live? They’re not an object, a pet or a toy! Do the government need to make laws about them to be protected? It just doesn’t make sense.

I’ve been interested in k-ent for around 5 years now, and at this point I think I’ll never get used to this weird mentality and behavior of knetz..I’ve been rolling my eyes at these “controversies” for years 🤦🏻‍♀️

That issue with Lee Seungi being the most recent one: what bothers me the most is the way some people try to justify the actions of such “fans”…the issue isn’t liking the girlfriend or not (which is a whole other discussion), but the entitlement of some strangers that really believe they have a say in what celebs do in their personal lives…it seems like many believe such a basic right should not be granted to entertainers 🤷🏻‍♀️

Too bored with their own lives they HAVE TO meddle with the ones of actors/idols/etc..

Oh man, fans setting up a protest truck outside Lee Seung-gi’s house and putting out statements is just crazy. I know they didn’t do that when he was dating Yoona and it is about this particular girlfriend and her family, but he’s not doing anything illegal or immoral. He’s just dating. The entitlement is just ….

Yeah I was stunt by what so-called “fans” did to Lee Seung Gi. He’s a celeb but fans don’t own him, he betrays no one when he’s dating someone. I can never understand how normal dating news become scandals. These obsessive and intrusive behaviors are sickening.

Ok so the petition against HYS’ bf – they investigate his background and then what? Hello you’ve been charged with not having a squeaky clean past so you can’t date HYS or other celebs.

Seriously I’m not sure what goes on in these people’s heads.

It’s not just the fans though, it’s the culture. They grew up thinking if they buy stuff and support their idols they have some sort of relationship wit them. The agencies and the actors, singers and others, feed this idea with their fan meetings and such, every interview about their private lives, every fake variety that sells their personality instead of their work, is responsible for this. It’s easy to blame the worst fans when they participate in the scheme that creates them.

It’s so strange to live in a bubble which no one is daring to burst – they are just creating more bubbles instead inside.

the level of entitlement to their idol/entertainer/actor/actress/celebrity just blows my mind. The obsession is disturbing. “Date someone better”… should these celebrities be submitting a poll on whom they should have in their lives?!?!?
    this is insane.
