Cheon Song-Yi (played by the amazing Gianna Jun) is one of my favourite Kdrama Female Characters!

She is a hard-working, strong independent woman with almost unparalleled fashion sense; she’s beautiful (in and out), with a hilarious tinge of air-headed-ness; she is a woman with pride, who also wears her heart on her sleeve. Her honest, unabashed pursuit for Do Min Joon’s love is truly admirable in all the right ways. She is the dictionary definition of “Get Your Man, Girl !”

She is the original scene-stealing Veronica Park (The Secret Life of My Secretary), the predecessor to the powerhouse that is Ko Moon-Young (It’s Okay Not To Be Okay), and it may have taken Yoon Song-A (Sunbae, Don’t Put That Lipstick) a few episodes to come around, but she definitely took a page from Cheon Song-Yi’s book when she opened her heart to the lovestruck Chae Hyun-Seung.

I really enjoyed my rewatch of this gem of a show. The Show had less skinship than I remembered, but the actors/actresses and the plot easily made me forget that — plus there was a clear explanation for the far-and-few kisses 😘😅😷🤒.

8 years after its original airing date, and My Love From The Star still shines very bright!

OMG a woman proposing and sweeping her tear-eyed man off his feet!

I LOOOOOVE THIS!

A woman trying to win her man back with genuine words of love and affirmation. No tricks. Just (finally) giving him all the love she’s got inside.

Yup, actress Won Jin-A is truly one of my favs and this role, so down-to-earth and honest, was absolutely meant for her.

Get your man, girl!

The constant McDonald’s coffee PPL. Is the coffee really good, folks?

I haven’t seen the coffee PPL but speaking for myself the answer is surprisingly yes.

I like it! I preferred the McDo coffee in the Philippines than here in the US though. Not sure why it tasted better in there.

It’s probably some of the best coffee I’ve had from a fast food or casual dining spot.

I am thoroughly enjoying my binge-watching of “Sunbae, don’t put that lipstick”. They have such refreshing takes on beloved tropes; the women are bold and clear about their inner thoughts and feelings; the ex-man (pun intended) has a very compelling story — I dig it!

A short essay will follow within the next few days.

I couldn’t get past the first very controlling male lead episodes and am happy to hear it improved.

His behaviour was problematic and it is acknowledged. He realizes his wrongful forceful ways, and changes for the better. The MUCH better.

When you watch an old Kdrama and it says “subtitles by Drama Fever” at the beginning.

RIP Drama Fever.

DramaFever was my favorite K-drama streaming service. I could pretty much find everything I like on DF back in the day and the platform had the clean look that I prefer. Also, the subscription was very reasonably priced. Now everyone has their own streaming service and find all the K-dramas in one place is a real challenge.

I miss Dramafever. I think about them all the time.

“My Love From The Star”, ep2 (re watch):
I’m not sure why they insisted on having our handsome stoic alien Do Min-Joo shower with a towel firmly wrapped around his waist. I mean, thanks for the hot abs shots, but WHO SHOWERS IN THEIR OWN HOME WITH A TOWEL AROUND THEIR WAIST???

😅😅😅😂

Good morning and Happy Monday, Beanies!
Last week, after the disappointment I felt in watching the first 10mins of Sisyphus
(just not my cup of tea, unfortunately. I absolutely adore Cho Seung-Woo but… * sigh * How is Park Shin-Hye’s character escaping a horde of assailants with super tech vision/detection equipment + a drone that clearly pointed right at her, while running in a train yard, barefoot, while dragging a suitcase?!?!? HOOOOW?!?!?),
I decided to comfort my soul by re-watching Moment at Eighteen.

What a delight this re-watch was! All the feels came right back up, and my love for the characters and their growth was renewed immediately. This Show was so well done, in terms of expressing realistic teenage innocence and angst, the struggle, the simple joys, toxic parenthood, elitism and Love Love Love… It has a different level of wholesome fluffiness, especially when compared to another of my favourite youth dramas, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo (which I re-watched in 2019. I adore it!) After watching the last episode last night, my only wish was to be transported into Soo Bin and Joon Woo’s future together. Ah, Teach Oh and Oh Je’s too. I loved those four so much!!

Next on my re-watch list
(because the fear of committing to a New Show only to be disappointed by its lackluster delivery half-way through is all too real. I kind of enjoyed Run On but not quite enough that it didn’t leave a wonky “meh. Blah” aftertaste)

is My Love From the Star !! I hope this one stands the test of time (it’s 8yrs old!).

Have a great week ahead, yorobun !

I have been thinking about My Love From The Star recently as well (clips from the show randomly pop up on YT for me) and I think I might give it a rewatch one day.

I love Cho Seung-Woo but 10mins into Sisyphus and… Nope. That’s gonna be a hard pass for me, unfortunately.

I made it about 50 minutes, and 2 minutes of ep 2 (I blame @ally-le).

I reached ep3 but when I reached the zipline scene, I realized it’s not for me. 😔

I barely survived ep1. I watched a few scenes from ep3 after reading Saya’s review over at DoF (the stage scene) only for CSW. But nope, I’m with you, this isn’t working for me.

Monday morning announcement: I finally finished the last season of Schitt’s Creek on Netflix yesterday, and immediately proceeded to do a “fast-forward” re-watch of my favourite scenes across ALL 6 seasons! I am obsessed with David and Patrick!!
(I am particularly sleep deprived now…)

I just reached the end of ep14 and, yeah, I know Dae-Young eventually has to go back to looking like an adult in order for him to be happy as a couple with his wife Da-Jung, but hot damn ❤️🥵💋🙈💞!

The chemistry between actor Lee Do-Hyun and actress Kim Ha-Neul is 🔥🔥🔥.

This is the stuff that creative people make whole fanfictions about! The ultimate Noona Romance that isn’t really one!

* fans self *

(I already read the recap for ep 15-16, thanks to @lollypip. It’s too bad that the actor who got me so drawn into this show is so absent at the end. 😔)

Pausing “18 Again” to start “Mr. Queen.” Let’s see what the hype is all about. 😊

I just binge-watched all 10 episodes of “Run On” and gosh! On the romantic front, “Run On” has one of the slowest, most chaste and dry progress ever. I’m enjoying the stories, the dialogue, the character quirks and development, but argh, the romance is painfully slow. I’ve watched high school dramas that worked through miscommunications faster!

12
5

And I just binged 10 episodes of The Rebel Princess so if you think that one’s slow, the FL and ML haven’t even said 1 word together. 🤣

    1

Well, that’s the main theme in Run On: communication (or the lack of it), and that’s precisely what I find so compelling about the drama!

His acting is extremely natural. It’s very on point in the sense that it never feels like he is over-acting or downplaying emotions

Happy New 2021, Beanies!
May this be a good K-Drama year for all!
In the Fall 2020, I struggled to finish “Into The Ring”, although the OTP were really truly very cute, just like fans of the show had said.

I suffered of a dry spell for a few months and today, I caved in and started “18 Again”, and WHAT A STRONG FIRST EPISODE!

I’m hooked!

Thanks to all the fans of the show for all the love you gave it on the Beanie wall and in reviews.

Yea, so I’ve been going back onto YouTube to watch clips of it this entire time and only going back to do actual re-watches of the entire show when I feel like I can handle going back down—and have the mental ability to pull myself out of—the rabbit hole of the show, which isn’t always 😅😅😅😅

The 1st 2 Eps are cute and I appreciate that she’s genuinely nice but gosh, can’t she even start to think about working instead of shamelessly depending on a total stranger’s abounding kindness?

It’s the basis for her growth arc, isn’t it?

Have you tried Kairos? I know it’s only two episodes, but the opening week was solid in acting, directing, writing and editing. I’m really impressed.
On a lighter note and if you just want to have fun and don’t care a lot about tropes and some very VERY poor CGI, you can try Search, it’s only 10 episodes and it’s really fun (in the entertaining way, because it can also be scary).
