Beanie level: Water maid

Episode 10 of Queen of tears was filled with fillers interspersed with bits of poignant scenes.
Soo choel informing his runaway wife about their kids hospital schedule; the father’s bonding over their feeling of past glory; Hae In’s mother in law crying once she learned about her illness.
Nevertheless, the episode picked up in the final act and that cute epilogue (too cute, just like drunk Hyun Woo😭😭)
Hae In really went in gun ablaze. She completely destroyed Eun Stupid

Did I mention that I hate Hae In’s mother. I hate the character and she contributes to part of the filler 🙄🙄

Eun-stupid! 👌 Thanks to Unit we are all having fun with his name. His face was worth watching. She was right when she told him earlier that I have nothing to lose. Boss lady!! 😍

My favorite iteration of his name by Unit is “Eun Suspicious”. I burst out laughing when I saw it 😂😂

I struggle to decide which one is my favorite – they ALL are. I never knew there were so many “shady” words starting with S. 🤣

Legend of Shenli

The last time I was giddy and a cdrama was “Till the End of the Moon” last year.
I love the laid back nature of Xingzi. The way he takes his time to do things. His organic love for Shenli. The way he always protects her yet help her to be herself. You could see his love grow🤣 until he went crazy and imprisoned her🤭
Crazy guy.
When they succumbed to their desires in that cave, I couldn’t believe they could show that much skin in a cdrama, I was shook yet impressed.
However, my favorite part is when they’re living a simple life. I love how boring and idle they are. I love the depiction on screen. It might seem boring to others, but that’s what makes me love the drama.
I love the side character. Shenli’s master, furong and his gaslighting sister, the annoying yet incompetent heavenly king.
Although the whitening and smoothening of their face is excessive, I can feel the chemistry between the leads in the drama.
I never watched Princess Agent. Tried watching it but the bad cgi wolf ran me off.

Episode 6 of “Queen of Tears” was a nerve wrecking watch. The evil people are too smart, coordinated and a lot!! I couldn’t enjoy the romance while anticipating the concurrent setup

Also, “In Blossom” by Ju Jingyi is surprisingly good. Somehow, it reminds me of “Word of Honor” even tho the storyline is not similar.

Due to that debacle with Chen Zeyuan, I grew to like her and I now detest him. The feeling solidified when his team pulled the same stunt with Dilireba. My feelings are subjective but I don’t care 😂😂 I can’t stand his sight and I skip any post that has his face in it.

However, because of my newfound love for Jujingyi, I decided to check out her new drama and it’s better than I expected. Her as a villain was captivating and as the scheming sleuth is funny.

It’s not that I outright dislike him—and I’ve never watched any of his works— but I’ve always had an “something’s off” feeling about him. To me, he has an “air” about that makes me feel like he thinks he is super important and up there with a lot of his seniors in the biz, when his career in showbiz is still quite green (not even 10 years) 🤔

This too. I usually don’t have any impression on actors, but I feel a negative energy from him. Might be my bias speaking, but his eyes literally look smarmy to me.

There’s actually a handful of celebs in C- Ent. (and K-Ent.) that don’t give me great vibes— it’s like a sixth sense I have— and I will tend to stay away from them in all aspects:
I refuse to consume any of their stuff—which includes endorsements ( ergo, not giving my support to them and their work)— I will not read nor get into any of the headlines they have, I will not check out their social media, will not care about the events they attend, etc.

… But I shall keep this list of celebs to myself, lest they have fans here on this platform 😅

When will Kdramas leave Africa (Aprika) alone?!! Either going there as punishment(Marry my Husband) or to feed the poor or to experience barbarism in the case of “Queen of Tears”.

I am exhausted

Finished watching ep14 “Marry My Husband” and I just came here to announce that it is wack. It’s unbelievably stupid I couldn’t believe my eyes. I’m so pissed.

This show switched from romance and mild drama to casually planning murders.

Murder!!!

Just for money. It doesn’t make sense. Their thought trajectory has no bearing based on their character. Why would Jiwon break up with Ju hyuk for such a stupid reason? She came from the future and she is aware that he never married so what was the reason? So, you break up, he remains single and you remain single and you are both miserable? The unhinged fiancé that refuses to back down even though the couple has broken up. Jiwon casually trying to kill Su min via fate. Sumin and her husband and her dad renting a truck of doom to kill Jiwon.
Jiwon’s mum that she has not seen nor met in ages casually agreeing to kill her own daughter.
Seems like all their brains were switched off, just going ahead like zombies to commit an unrealistic, unreasonable crime.
I had to check and confirm that I was watching the same show I started with.

End of rant

Anyway, I watched the first two episodes of the “Sword and Fairy” dramas and I prefer “sword and fairy 6” except for Esther Yu’s voice.

It viscerally repulses me. Reminds me of the “I just turned 18” girl on douyin. Better straighten your tongue girl😡😡

“My Demon”…. Sigh

After I finished “Perfect Marriage Revenge” and caught up on “Marry my Husband”, I was stumped on which of my dropped dramas to continue watching or which new drama to start watching. I picked the latter.

I picked “Born to Run” because no matter how much hate is piled on “Yang Chaoyue” because she’s supposedly a ‘bad’ actress, I still like her. Lots of actresses are bad in cdramas, yet I feel her hate is excessive. I digress.

Anyway, I picked up the drama for her and I’m loving it so far. The plot is a bit heavy and I know I will/may drop it, yet, I wanted to watch it to some extent.

All these long backstory is just rant that Yang Chaoyue’s character “Chen Rouhua’s” mum in the series is the most suffocating, manipulative and selfish mum character I’ve ever had the displeasure of seeing in my screen. Just like her deceased son said, it’s like a constant camera and alarm, hanging above his head, no peace of mind, no joy, no agency. Just controlling and suffocating ‘love’.

When she unlocked her daughter’s phone and went through her messages, I was dumbfounded. I actually felt sick to my stomach because how nasty do you have to be to invade your daughter’s privacy like that. She then proceeded to do worse as the drama progressed.

This is in sharp contrast to the other mother/daughter relationship depicted in the drama, which also has its own ups and downs yet it’s healing and inspiring, motivating and empowering not toxic and depressing.

Either way, I’ve dropped the drama because as at episode 18, Chen Rouhua has not stood up for herself for once, instead she gave up and moved back home to continue the rounds of manipulation and while I understand that it’s not an easy process to break free from an abusive and toxic relationship, I can’t bring myself to continue watching it.

Omo … dramaland always finds new ways to make toxic parents. Not that it is easy to stand up to them (IRL or dramaland) but it is extremely important to draw clear boundaries. Sigh.

Good choice to drop. It is very important to respect our own emotional boundaries. My RL has enough angst, thank you very much, why taken on more in my dramas. 🙅‍♀️

Last episode of “Perfect Marriage revenge” is just a long AD placement video😩😩😩

Also, Yi Joo is the queen of tears.

Finally got around to completing “Perfect Marriage Revenge” and I remember why I stopped. It’s too intense. The bad guys are equally smart, so I can’t be at rest because they can deliver lethal damages too. Also, because I’m still at ep8, there’s four more episodes for things to go wrong for my protagonists.

Nevertheless, the acting in “A Journey to Love” was phenomenal. Every character had a growth and a story. No filler character nor plot. I loved everyone including the villains and grey heroes. 10/10

I don’t know why, but it felt like Liu Shi Shi was away from C-dramaland for longer than it really was. Her last drama before “A Journey to Love” was “My Best Friend’s Story, which aired in 2021, making her “hiatus” only to be a year 😅 Nonetheless, I’m glad AJTL is her comeback drama:
It’s a drama more up her alley in which I think she excels at (something with martial arts, which isn’t surprising, since she’s also professionally trained in dancing), and has a gritty premise from what I am told (yes, I have not watched this yet lol)

“Sound of the Desert” was the last drama I finished, so it feels like a long time for me, too.
I’m convinced that Ren Ruyi was written especially for her.

From what I read of the synopsis and of her character description from viewers, I also think the role was written for her

The premise is really gritty, realistic and mature. Too mature depending on who you ask. I’ve never watched any drama of hers, but I understand she’s a big Star like Liu Yifei.

I can see why you’d think that, especially with the drama’s premise and that sort of ending.
Yes, there’s a handful of C-actresses who have garnered a renown for themselves via Chinese costume dramas they’ve participated in and which left such a big impact and impression that now their careers are more revolved around that image more than anything else they’ve done. Liu Yi Fei, Liu Shi Shi, Yang Mi, Yang Zi, and Ni Ni are all part of the newer (but definitely not the newest) group of actresses who have garnered a reputation and renown in their careers for their costume dramas more than anything else they’ve done for sure, imho

As someone aptly opined on Twitter, “A Journey to Love” should be renamed “A Journey to Heaven” or “Stairway to Heaven 2”.

Everyone Died!!! WTF!!! WHAT WAS THE REASON????

But for this night, I’ll watch a cute BL “Breeze of Love” before I delve into these emotionally draining dramas.

For kdramas, I’ll pick up “Vigilante” and the dog drama, while struggling through “My Demon”. I want to clear my backlog before I start “The story of Parks Marriage”. The snippets I’ve seen so far are very interesting

Parks marriage is better than the dog drama and my demon in my opinion. I’m also watching My man is Cupid with lots of dogs in that too! 😂

I hope you enjoy it too. 🥰

I feel nothing about Demon. It’s bland and boring and there is no chemistry between the super good looking leads lol.

I actually like Dog more than I thought I would but going through a major slump now but I know I’ll finish it sometime later.

Parks Marraige is cute. Need to catch up.

It took me a lot of slugging, but I’ve made it to ep33 of “A Journey to Love”. I’ve placed “Wonderland of Love” on hold while I’m currently live watching “The Last Immortal” which I absolutely love.

Day 15 – Special Kimchi slap edition: Worst Parent/s
I didn’t follow the prompts from the first day, but I felt I had to contribute for today.

For me, worst parent in a drama was Mok Sol-hee’s mother in “My lovely liar. The way she was like an albatross over Sol-hee was a big ick for me. A criminal, scam artist and a leech. Throw in emotional abuse, verbal abuse and emotional manipulation. Ugh

Yes it was the way she kept turning up to get money from her and throwing a scene whenever she could. Terrible woman, I don’t know why her ex husband wanted her back.

She was a proper pest. That reunion arch between her and her ex husband was so annoying and unnecessary

Between work and trying to catch up with all the dramas I’m watching, I don’t have much time to post here. Nevertheless, I finished watching “Sweet Home 2” yesterday and short review: “it should never have been made”.
It was boring, it was not sweet home as I knew it, too many non-connecting stories. Even the main character was missing throughout the series and the reveal of whom Sang wook was at the end actually raised more questions than answers. Perhaps, the storyline will be connected with the second part of season 2 coming out next year. They just made the plot bigger and humans more monstrous and ruined the essence of the series for me.

If it was an independent series, then it wouldn’t be a bad story. It reminds me of “Hellhound” and “All of ‘them’ are dead” as it’s all about surviving a new, nightmarish world, and dealing with the worst of humanity. However, they made it a season 2 of Sweet Home and honestly, it feels like two different shows.
