Born Again – ep11

@linda-palapala @zzthorn

When I thought this show could not get any weirder it does this kind of thing. This episode redeemed the show from boring last week but made it even stranger. I wonder if anyone has any theories?

Should we even try to get an explanation? Was Gong Ji Chul some kind of immortal creature? How? He was shot in the head and somehow arrested, hanged and still survived and later drowned? Is psycho fiancee his daughter? No, that was just poetic license? How would the writer even know he would escape? I should have thought someone would get amnesia! I guess the gangster kidnapped CBJ and convinced him to kill prosecutor? Why? He could just use any thug, why bother taking care of him for a year? The cop is back! Genius! That reunion with older cop was hilarious.

One of my problems is I’ve never bothered to learn anyone’s name, so usually I’ve no clue who they’re even talking about! But which scenes are just from her book? Which scenes are real? Is it Wuthering Heights or Count of Monte Cristo? Who’s the bad guy? Are there any good guys? Is what’s-his-name just misunderstood? Is this show really good or really bad? Is it re-incarnation truly, or resurrection, or does someone with an agenda keep rescuing him? Is this mytery or supernatural? I’m going nuts. I’ve never been so clueless about a show. But that’s what I like…

Oh, yeah, and a lot of fans are going to be really made if she doesn’t end up with the prosecutor, but I think that would be a cheat ending. Can’t imagine how this is going to have a decent ending that will satisfy everyone.

I want them to be born again in another future, it would be my favorite choice for the last episodes.

Maybe: maybe Jang Beom is a clone? Maybe there are two clones? Or maybe one is an AI or a robot? I wouldn’t be surprised if they throw that scenario in.

I haven’t watched today’s episode yet, so I haven’t read through these posts yet so as not to get confused (hahahahahah—that was a joke) Anyway, I think the writer for this show is doing some serious drugs and has lost track of any sense of reality. Reincarnation is out the window with this. This is something else entirely. But, I am still watching and definitely looking forward to the craziness each week. This is definitely not a show that is predictable by anyone who is even half way sane.

@Lixie I have been watching from the beginning and still am unsure of the plot or the direction this show is headed. I assumed that the scenes of Gong Ji Chul escaping from the prison reflected the narrative the crazy author had written and not reality. Honestly, I cannot understand how he survived the shot to the head and then being hanged in prison. It just seems way to far fetched (and that’s saying a lot with this drama).
I did like the scene where Hyung Bin takes possession of Soo Hyuk’s body. I assume that the former has completely taken over now? Poor Soo Hyuk!

Heh? Is this coming up (I haven’t watched the last episode it isn’t subbed yet). Even if it comes up I probably won’t get it. This has to be the least linear story ever told.

@Linda Palapala It was yesterday’s episode. Sorry for the spoilers! When you watch please let me know what you think is actually going on!

@sirena Finally finished 12. My take is they’ve been reincarnated with the spirits/souls, whatever, to solve the mystery of the 80s murders and deaths. Once they solve the case, find the guilty party, the original souls will be at rest, so either the modern trio will die or their own consciousnesses will come back and they can live normal lives. Who ends up with who is a big question but one I don’t really care about.

@Linda Palapala That sounds very plausible. I honestly am not terribly invested in the characters so I too couldn’t care less who ends up with who.

@sirena This was an interesting idea but I think the answer was in episode 12. I liked the cop better so I’m glad he’s returned and we can have ressurrection and some time traveling because we didn’t have crazy enough already eheheheh.

I still have two episodes to go, but I wonder if the bookshop “Old Future” is a clue.

It’s almost like the present incarnations were empty shells. Now, I feel like they are getting more personality.

@lixie I almost expect a certain level of crazy with this drama. Still, the latest episode was the best by far.

@lixie The cop may have been a nicer, more pleasant guy to get along with than the prosecutor, but hey, I like the hairstyle on the prosecutor better, so I’m for the prosecutor. And with this show, perhaps the hairstyle is more concrete and stable than any of characters, the action, or the plot so far. (though I did notice in the latest episode that he was also messing with the hairstyle a bit, too— go figure)

Perhaps cop and prosecutor have fused, resulting in our new “compromise” hairstyle.

Yes exactly, cop and prosecutor together achieved the superior hairstyle. 🙂
