@manichan – is your monitor an external one? If so is there another computer or laptop somewhere that you can plug it into and check to see if it still is blank? How old is the monitor? When the monitor stops, can you still hear anything on the computer?
gah – that would be frustrating!
But you still have your primary monitor to use then. So you aren’t completely out of luck. Do you know anyone that you could stop by and check with their pc just to be safe? This is when it’s so hard to troubleshoot without being able to go somewhere. But I doubt it is a virus – most likely it’s the connection to the monitor.

beanies my PC starts displaying a black screen out of nowhere while I’m using it. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Have you checked the connection? It might be loose – I know from experience but mine is an external monitor.

Yes, likely loose connector somewhere, like @stpauligurl said.
That’s assuming that it is intermittent and goes between normal and completely black.

It was intermittent but now it has stopped working entirely. I think it’s got a virus

Or, if it’s a laptop and has a port for external monitor, can you borrow a monitor?

It’s an external monitor and I don’t have any other devices to plug in and test. And yes, it’s extremely frustrating
