Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

I think I found my new drama cat nip: The unwilling Romeo!
Seung-gi aces this role!

Haha, I haven’t seen this drama yet but I have seen the Unwilling Romeo in a few dramas, and I agree, I love it and Seung-gi fits the role perfectly!

To all the lovely Beanies, who wished me luck on my interview today: A BIG THANK YOU!
It went really well. Tomorrow I have a trial run, but I was pretty much guaranteed the job 🙂
Guess they need help

Really wish I\’m not a Robot will be a bit more lighthearted today. I need some fluff right about now 🌼💮🌸

    Same. It’s proving to be a crappy week so I need INAR to lighten up the mood a bit ;A;

I have a job interview later on today and I\’m so very nervous. Trying to distracted myself with dramas and it is working, only that makes me even more nervous….

A Happy New Year to all you lovely beanies!
May 2018 bring us a ton of great kdramas 🙂

I don’t know why exactly, but the kiss from the movie 3-iron is one of the most magical in movie history (at least for me). My heart flutters every time I see it.
But then the whole movie is magical.

I love that movie. That was the first time I noticed Hee Jae. I love the tone of the movie. Very thought provoking too.

A friend told me to watch it and I was very skeptical at first, but same as you I fell in love with the tone of the movie. Two broken souls that accept and love each other without having to utter a single word, just through their actions. So beautiful.
Though I do believe that at some point they will murder her husband…

Hwayugi gave me major Gumiho flashbacks and of course I’m right in the middle of watching it. Its so cute, only the bitchy ex girlfriend is getting on my nerves and I really want to pull out her hair.

The Beauty Inside is one of the most hauntingly beautiful movies I have ever seen.
The tone is so unique and Han Hyo Joo is incredible.

I think my favorite part of that movie was the ending song – fell in love instantly!

Yes, I’m listening to it right now. It is so catchy and yet beautiful.

I really, really love this movie and I’m not sure how they’re going to adapt it into a drama but I’m looking forward to it!

    3
    1

I’m really looking forward to this drama, but I’m also really, really worried. I think part of the magic was that it concentrated on his relationship with HHJ, but to only focus on this for 16 eps could be a bit boring. It could be of course a nice study on human interaction based on gender, age and race.

      2
      1

Yes, me too! I’m hoping they’d bring together a really good cast, it will be awesome if they could bring HHJ, I really loved how she portrayed this character, also Park Seo-joon and Yoo Yeon-seok, like JB and GF said in their vlog, I need those two to be in the drama!

I love this movie. Literally, everyone did such a great job.

    2

Of course. I screamed in delight with some of the cameos, still Han Hyo Joo was gorgeous and amazing in that role.

Dear Beanies, I know this site is more about dramas, but do you know of any great Korean novels in English? I just finished the Chinese novel Joy Luck Club and would love to read smth Korean now.

I’m a grown woman and still chicken as hell… I wish I could be more like Su Ji.
I could really use her courage right about now.

So I got layed off today and feel awful. My soul is craving something happy with tons of cuteness. Does anyone have some recommendations?

    I am so sorry!! **HUGS**!

Oh no! Dramas are the perfect remedy, though. My go-to cotton candy dramas are Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo and Shopping King Louis. I hope you can find something to cheer you up!

    1

Thanks mindy. Those are mine aswell, only I have rewatched some now way to often, but I will give them another whirl. The cuteness always cheers me up.

Oh no! I am sorry! *sending hugs and kisses*

I dunno about recommendations.. I usually suggest Shopping King Louis and Weightlifting Fairy for cuteness, but you could also go for Liar and his Lover..

Thanks Obsessedmuch. I guess it’s the perfect time to try out Liar and his Lover. Everyone really seemed to love it.

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Tomorrow Cantabile, Dream High, are all the super cute ones that come to mind in this moment. I’m so sorry this happened to you!

Those sound good, I haven’t watched any of them yet. Thanks Hotcocoagirl.

For fluff you could also try Panda and Hedgehog, She Was Pretty, You’re Beautiful (of these You’re Beautiful is prolly the most fluffy). Let me know what you end up watching! Talking korean drama nonsense is often a therapeutic way to take your mind off the real life drama, at least it is for me. ^_^

aww sorry to hear that! I’ve been through it…for lightheartedness I recommend Cinderella and Four Knights, Strongest Deliveryman, and One Percent of Something

If chocolates don’t work then binge Strong Woman DBS or TLAHL. And we all know that the fan made videos on YouTube are always great to make our day bright. Hope you’re feeling well by now.

Aw, that sucks 🙁 I hope some of the suggestions here will manage to cheer you up!

Seconding My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, that one is super cute!
There’s also Playful Kiss and To The Beautiful You, both of which were all about the cute, it’s as fluff as it gets lol. They’re older and you kind of have to turn off your brain to watch them, but if you’re feeling down in the dumps, they might do the trick?

If you’re up for some variety, there’s also something like New Journey to the West Season 3, which was loads of fun and brightened up a lot of bad days for me while it aired 🙂

Thanks a bunch. Everyone is so sweet and make me feel so much better. I will give those shows a try.

Hugs to you Nelly! Hug your parents, pets, and bestfriends. That’s what I do when I’m down.

The recommendations of the other beanies here are wonderful. If you’re into old-school KDrama, I liked Goong, My Girl, and Coffee Prince.

I will, and a hug to you as well for your recommendation.

I’m so sorry to see your news @nelly I didn’t spot it last week. Why do they always do this just before Christmas? My doppelgänger watch was Bride of the Century.

I have no idea, but thanks to all the kind beanies here I feel much better. Thank you for you recommendation vannerie. How are you by the way? I haven’t heard from you in ages, but I also was absent from this site for quite some time.

I’ve been away a fair bit since the start of September so I was intermittent on Dramabeans. There’s still a lot to do but I’m pleased to be at home for the holidays and our visitors aren’t arriving until after Christmas. Bride of the Century had everything: the doppelgängers, crazy chaebol mums, a family curse, possible incest and even a ghost but they amazingly pulled it off!

        1
        1

Thats great. Travelling is the best! Hope you have a lovely Christmas with your visitors.
My mom really loved Bride of the Century, but to me it sounded extremely makjang. Guess I have to try it out now, since you also like it 🙂

          1
          1

I definitely think it was makjang which is not my thing but somehow it worked. Hahaha. Maybe I was just in the mood for it.

I\’m at ep 4 of Joseon X-files and so far I\’m not overly impressed. Don\’t get me wrong it is good, just not as great as I hoped it would be. Does it get more exiting? Should I keep watching?

Never watch a highly-praised wildly-loved drama with high expectation. Whenever I decide to watch a very popular drama I purposely assume that it is only overrated hype. Maybe it is unfair but it has helped me to enjoy many more dramas.

I couldn’t even get through the first episode…so….😑

Finally caught up with Because this life is our first… what an obvious but non the less incredibly mean cliffhanger. I\’m just happy that I don\’t have to wait all week. My sympathies to all beanies!

At least tomorrow the wait will be over and our suffering will (hopefully) end.

I miss Wookie so much so I finally watched Fabricated City.
Impressive action, only I didn’t quite catch the whole plot.
Maybe some subs were off but the intro and outro narration made no sense?

Just finished Mixed-up Investigative Agency.
This show is sooo darling!
So glad I gave it a try even though I usually don\’t watch older dramas.
I kinda want to go treasure hunting as well now 😀

That’s on my list! Glad you liked it!

You should check it out. It took me a couple of episodes to adjust, but the story was very well thought out and the characters are very loveable.

Holy moly you guys! The last ep of WYWS was just an emotianal rollercoaster!
It had me crying, sighing, laughing and awing in just one hour.
What a lovely show. It will be deeply missed.

Because of bed rest I’m right in the middle of binging Mixed-up Investigative Agency.
The show is 10 years old, but man is it hilarious.

I really like a lot of the older shows, I sometimes find them better than the newer ones. Have you watched “Oh! My Lady”? I’m in the middle of that now, I’m really liking it!

    2

I love Oh! My Lady! It is the only noona romance drama that actually worked for me.

Actually this is my first older drama, but I decided to check out more of them now! So thanks for the advice 😀

Somebody explain to me how a picture of two shadows can break you heart?
Dang Woo Tak is just the cutest.

For days now I’m lying sick in bed. So far the best pick me up has been Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.
Apart from the ridicules gangsters the story is just freaking adorbs. #cutestpuppylove

yeah, the gangster story got old reeeeal quick. too bad they focused so much one that. The main couple was so sweet, I got a tooth-ache!
