Beanie level: The Goblin’s underpants

Just watched the trailer for the king: eternal monarch.
I should say, I am deeply impressed by Lee Min Ho. This guy has been acting since 2006 and his acting is still so bad.

🤣🤣I wish there was a way to bookmark Beanies because following doesn’t seem to do anything at least not on my iPad. I need to work my way through your posts because your sense of humour is out there. I just need to remember not to eat or drink while reading and this is my 5 minutes of daily fun! I never sprayed food or drink from laughing until I started watching K dramas and the unexpected humour gets me every time.

Does anyone feel like A Piece of Your Mind is a sweet and quite episode of Black Mirror?

3

The guy makes a computer which talks like his first love. She even knows the same things as original.
His dead love didn’t agree on that. If it wasn’t for the directing and dreamy Jung Hae In this show could be in genre horror.

The show is so creepy when you
actually think about it. I can’t even imagine what would happen to the recently widowed husband when he finds out about this AI.

I haven’t watched this week’s episodes, but I can only say that only APOYM wished to come close to Black Mirror.
I only hope this week’s episodes can mend last week.

Rewatched poem a day. Surprisingly, the show was a lot more enjoyable now that I knew the ending.
Best thing about the show: main leads start dating and that’s it. They don’t find out about weird childhood connection, their parents don’t randomly jump in their relationships. They have their own share of problems (him feeling the relationships are too uncomfortable, and her considering herself less than her capable boyfriend), but they talk about it like adults and don’t act as if it is the end of the world. Here are the photos of them just going on dates.

“Surprisingly, the show was a lot more enjoyable now that I knew the ending.”

That is exactly why I enjoy rewatching my favorite shows.

I loved this about the series. The thing I hated was that he had literally no personality the entire series. Like, he was an amalgamation of quirks and that was it. This was why I was not really into either ship and basically was just happy that Bo-young was happy in the end, and that she got everything she deserved.

    3
    1

He had personality! I noticed that more clearly after second rewatch. He was a socially awkward introvert. Also, very understanding, fair and sensitive. I watched the show in two days so I had more opportunities to connect his actions in one episode to what he said/what we were shown in a different one. Compared to 95% of kdrama leads, he actually acted like an adult, so I get why his personality wasn’t that memorable.

      1
      1

I would probably have to agree to disagree. I think he had some personality traits – and I think they tried to give him a personality after they made him the endgame, but it wasn’t really enough. He had a lot of definable traits like you mentioned: introvert, sensitive, awkward. None of those things is a personality – they’re traits. There was nothing about the character that you could say gave him that extra dimension. What made him leap from a paper definition of who he was to being a fully realized person. We as viewers don’t know what he likes, what he’s passionate about, what makes him tick, what makes him happy outside the cues that the story gave us. He had his quirks, but he wasn’t fully developed. And that’s because he was never written as the lead but they switched things up later on. I think this is a problem we see more with female characters – they are often there only to move the story forward at convenient times (“pot plants”).

I started to enjoy APAD about 5 episodes in. That was after the appearance of LJH (1984). The early episodes were rough the way the characters were introduced so negatively. (I am convinced that that really hurt APAD in the ratings ) Although I am a LJH fan I was not a Ye liner but jumped on the MinHo-Young ship.
I personally thought a Min-ho Bo-young relationship made sense. I basically agree with @Snarkjellyfish’s analysis.

However, if you recall, in the spring of 2018, the cherry blossoms were outstanding in SK. APAD had an outdoor scene with Dr. Ye and Bo-young in a park with a humongous Cherry Tree framed in the scene. It was outstanding cinematography.
(CAHM also has some beautifully incorporated cherry trees into the drama.)

Surprisingly, I am enjoying Forest (Park Hae Jin/Jo Boa\’s drama). Directing is weak, writer is obviously inexperienced, but the show actually has creativity and heart.

Here is an example:
Female lead gets fired. Later that day, she goes to her dad and while eating his cooking, she starts crying. She says that she must be dumb and that her parents hardwork to rise her as a successful person was wasted on her. Her dad calms her, tells her he is still proud of her and holds her when she is crying.

This scene seemed the most raw and honest to me. Sometimes the biggest fear we have is to be a disappointment for someone who puts their trust in us.

I was beginning to think I was the only one enjoying Forest.

Rather than a douchebag, main lead is pragmatic and polite. We actually see him work (and I love that he goes to crazy lengths to do a good job).
Female lead is kind, but that’s not her only personality. She is also a careerist.
Main leads don’t hate each other.
This show has it’s flaws but you can feel that writer actually tried to do her job and not copy-paste all used romantic tropes.

My Country: Jang Hyuk is great! The younger cast does a good job, but when it is Jang Hyuk\’s scenes everything before his appearance looks like a child play.
He is charismatic and steals the spotlight! Every time I see him I actually feel that Bang Won is the king material. I will follow the guy, I\’ll bet on him any day! That\’s how convincing he is (RIP his poor little brother, the boy doesn\’t stand a chance)

He started as an idol in a group long time ago. So even idols turned actors can work.

Jang Hyuk? He was never an idol. He did do a rap album once he became an actor but that’s it.

It was hella funny because I made the same expressions as Eun Jung in these scenes. This drama is indeed full of weirdos =)))

Literally everyone is weird in……some way.
His dramatic pauses crack me up and I actually get why Eun Jung might open up to someone like him. Similiar to the actress he seems to have little to no filter.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched their scenes. Is Son Seok Koo’s character’s name Kim Sang Soo? AsianWiki lists it as “Sang Soo” and the man at the orphanage called him “Chairman Kim.” I’m just gonna call him NIceAndWarm.

I call him Director Yell. And Son Seok Koo is SO likeble. I have yet to see a drama where I don’t care about his character.

Friend-Really? Tell me about it.
Me-Well, there is this guy who is stalking female lead. That\’s how everything starts.
Friend- oh, geez, poor girl
Me-not exactly, she probably killed his brother.
Friend- So the main guy is taking revenge? The whole show is about it?
Me- Not exactly, they fall in love.

Me-….you would love it. Really.

It’s about I Want to Hear your Song. This show is a wreck and I have zero idea why I enjoy it so much.
Actually, thinking back to it, Man Wol was a stalking Chang Sung, right?

I have not watched Hotel de Luna (saving it for later marathon), I was afraid you spoiled it for me. Thank goodness. :)) So no idea how to reply to your question!
Btw, do you recommend IWTHYS? The story seems dark???

        0
        2

It is surprisingly not that dark. Or depressing. It is more of a rom-com with a murder mystery backstory. Majority of times you would wonder what you are supposed to feel about…any relationship or character in this show. It is one of those dramas you love, but logically can’t explain why.

WWW: Such a great show. Everything was great about it except main loveline. I have zero idea why main leads missed each other that much at the end. They dated for 1 month and 90% of it they were fighting/on the verge of breakup

    Hahaha
Time works differently in drama. Usually a couple going through all ups and down in just a season 😄

Ep 10 of Legends of Alhambra is depressing. Each episode is depressing. I think writer wants to make Jin Woo the most pitiful dramaland character ever.

About Beauty Inside: I am just so mad at the creators. It feels like they missed the whole point of the movie. Getting loved no matter how you look was all this show was about, even not giving \”real\” face to main character was a point, because you shouldn\’t expect your loved one to go from beast to prince. In this case, they used such a great premise as a plot device and made main character work in a lookism oriented workplace.

8
4

I absolutely loved everything about the movie and to turn to show into a romantic comedy, yeah, not feeling it.

    5
    1

I am so sad for the premise. It is especially unsettling that main lead has face blindness. I mean…. writers seriously thought no healthy person would survive a week with their loved one who has different face?

      4
      1

And what was so important about the film was the love interest and the emotional issues she had that lead to physical problems for her. She was so in love she was making herself sick and really didn’t know what to do about it.

Preach. Only 2 episodes and it feel like they dropped the ball with this.

Did main lead just stopped his children from getting born so that he would get the new shiny wife and freedom to play PSP?

The size of problems main leads face this season are so big

Come and hug me: Serial-killer father and being in love with one of dad\’s victims

Are you human too? : Being a sacrificial limb for a jerk you don\’t even know.

What\’s wrong with Secretary Kim? -secretary leaving her job AND a pimple

I have to admit, this was cute, but before that main lead made me wonder what was worse
-dating someone like him or dying in 100 day

5

I am so happy with APAD’s ending. I know some people thought it got boring after Dr. Ye and Bo young started dating, but I really loved how little drama they had in relationships. Good communication and simply being happy together. They both deserve that

P.S Okay, but it is still out of fantasy world that those two didn’t get caught

15
5

I really wanted to see an epilogue where they would show us the dept, where they would break the fourth wall and address us directly, saying ‘ you really think we don’t know?’

    5
    1

Hahaha..like what they did in Jugglers!! That would be super awesome.

I was thinking the same thing too, How could anyone fail to notice how completely smitten Dr. Ye is with all those adoring gaze! This is literally Dr. Ye: 😍😍😍

      8
      1

Exactly like jugglers! Maybe they didn’t notice because they were too busy cringing when he tried to become comfortable with them.but for someone who’s too nosy, they sure were oblivious.

To Ye-Liners
Just how traumatized we were by the past dramas, that even though female lead was screaming \”Long live Ye-line\” since episode 2, we were thinking \”my ship is definitely gonna sink\”.

8
5

Because he was so second lead material, heh.
It still could sink you know, though that would mean Bo Young would end up alone and unhappy *traumatised for life*

    2
    1

Honestly, at this point it is as possible as one of the leads dying, by that I mean that narrative wise it doesn’t make any sense. Bo Young liked one guy for 11 episodes, she likes and thinks about the second one as much as about Nam Woo.
We would probably get an episode of angst but I doubt we have anything to worry about it.

      3
      1

That’s what I meant with *traumatised for life* At this point it would take noble idiocy, Truck of Doom, cancer, amnesia, ex-girlfriend scandal reveal, or secret double personality disorder to separate those two. I hate misunderstandings and mini-break ups, so I hope the writer has a good plan for the next 4 episodes.

        3
        0

I’m still worried. It’s ok. I’m on the island still. I’ll be prepared for potential heartbreak.

Ji Ah is the real representative of poor heroine who has three part time jobs.
She wears one black hoodie whole drama (practical), has eye bags (in terrible need of sleep!), talks only when necessary and doesn\’t express or smile that much (saving energy). Plus, she is anything but bright and optimistic.
Yea, that\’s how you really live a hard life.
