Beanie level: Noble idiot

Anyone know the title – it’s a sageuk, daughter thought her mum died, mum is the leader of a group/organisation which has been around for hundreds of years Han Sang-jin plays a monk dresses in purple.

I should be watching the next instalments of Dr Cha, but somehow the charms of Jung Il Woo as Prince Yeoning in Haechi came calling. I do love a good sageuk – men look so fetching in dresses & swords!

I remember that Haechi was fun!
I mean, I don’t remember the show (because my memory is shirt), but I remember enjoying it.

Funny thing memory, although I remember the storyline it’s still a new show when you’re watching it all over again with fresh eyes.

Enjoy HAECHI! Jung Il-woo was terrific as was (showed in the first pic with JIL) Jung Moon-sung. JMS won an SBS award for his performance as the evil Prince Yi Tan.

I swear Kwon Yul was cast against type and he shocked me with his comedic acting chops! (Not really a sp0iler: There is a great tavern scene (I think early on) of Kwon Yul pawing all over JIW. I am laughing just thinking of it.)

A great deal of energy would have been required to portray Prince Yi Tan – what a thug! Graceful dancing though – excellent acting and the antics of Bak Man-su provided comic relief.

I ended up going back & watching all episodes of Revolutionary Sisters to find out who killed their mum but I still don’t know. Who DID kill the girl’s’ mother? I’m thinking her lover’s wife?

Well five episodes into Revolutionary Sisters, I’m ready to throw in the towel. Too ho hum and a bored bored mum! There has GOT to be something better!

I even recapped the first couple of episodes, bit couldn’t justify the time it took with the value of the show for me.

Yes, it’s like a hamburger maker saying, “Let’s make French gâteaux” – this would have been the result.

Numerous Kdramas later, I’m loving the new “Dr Cha”. Couldn’t stop laughing in Ep 3 at the drinks party when asked what does your husband do, she replies, “He’s dead!” Priceless look on hubby’s face!

    That made lmfao! 🤣 😂 🤣
    Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode.

Same here. The characters are so real you feel as though you are part of their lives.

Rewatching Hotel Del Luna… Yeo Gin-goo is such great eye candy plus he can act! Poor Man-wol is her own worst enemy, I’d forgotten Chung Myung’s trickery. Good story, love all the faces of “Mago”.

Had to put Marriage Contract on hold, now watching Crash Course In Romance – 20 minutes in, we’ll see how it goes. The absence of good looking hunks lowers my estimation sorely. Where are they?

1
2

A teenage hunk shows up soon. And Jung Kyung-ho is good-looking (at least I think so), but he’s the opposite of a hunk. The guy would blow away in a stiff breeze!

    1

Teenage hunk Lee Chae-Min? He’s quite dishy, as for our lead, a puff of wind would knock him over.

Marriage Contract is hard going Uee’s character is morose, papa is a male chauvinist pig, and second son is a jerk and wimpy. Little Eun-seong is the glue holding the series together.

Green Mothers Club – disappointing ending. Jin-ha wants to die, Louis was a weak character. Eun-pyo has a chip on her shoulder, cousin talks rubbish. Chun-hui was my favourite character.

Watching Green Mothers Club….. Set amid a backdrop of a competitive grade school community, these mothers will stop at nothing and do anything to see their child wins a place at the most prestigious educational academy in the country.
…..One is dead (did she fall or was she pushed?) one is a liar, one is up to no good ….drugs or an escort? one is a scoundrel and one is a push over.

Green Mothers Club ep 3, Park Yun-joo‘s husband paid 370,000 won for a meal for four adults and two children. That’s approx. $424.97 Australian. Ouf that’s expensive. Admittedly they ate out but still

It’s not so expensive if they drank wine too for my country…

    1
    1

That’s a bargain even without wine where I live (northern California, $282 US dollars).

Judging only by the prices I see posted on non-fancy restaurant walls in kdramas, everyday food and drink seem considerably cheaper in Korea. I have no idea about nice restaurants, though.

Coming from a country where beef is freely available as is lamb, I sometimes forget it isn’t plentiful everywhere. If you’re in Thailand or Laos, forget the beef, go for the pork!

Noooo, The Glory part 2 comes out Friday 10 March at 12PM in the US but in Australia we have to wait until Saturday 11 March. S’not fair!

How are you all doing in KDramaland? I’ve been rewatching Under The Queen’s Umbrella and The King’s Affection – a sageuk lover I’d like to have lived then but only if I was rich.

Hello, glad you are enjoying watching life in historical times. I just think they must have spent a lot of time feeling cold and death by easily cured illnesses in modern times must have been heartbreaking for families. Other than that I agree being rich was the best option.

Being a history buff from when I was a child, I always wanted to live in the past – back then it was in the 17th century and of course, I would have worn satin and silks and been wealthy!

I LOVED under the queen’s umbrella so much – due for a rewatch I think. I

As a lover of historical dramas (across any language and region honestly) I too fantasise about having lived then but only really nice if the past was tinted with the drama-lens as it is nowadays on tv/film I suppose hahaha

Yes, I know what you mean. The ladies are allowed to wander freely at will in KDrama land!

Rewatching shows were live it’s such a joy, isn’t it? ☺️

I’m trying to get one of my friends into korean cinema, so yesterday we watched House of the Hummingbird and today we’re planning to watch Decision to Leave.
I also asked her if we can watch a few Bollywood movies, and I’m thinking of showing her Queen (since it isn’t a musical) first, and then Devdas.

But if we talk about kdramas, I think this weekend was a little too much for me. I was super disappointed with CCIR’s finale and Divorce Attorney scared me with their first episode. I can’t handle well stuff involving kids, they took it too far, imo.

Devdas was an epic film thanks for reminding me of that one!

Queen is one of my all time favorites. I think I’ve watched it 3 times already.
Another wonderful Indian film is Taare Zameen Par or “Like Stars on Earth”
Both very heartwarming and positive and sweet.

This is like a trip down memory lane. I still use the example the teacher used in ‘Like stars on earth’ to help the dad understand his son’s experience of the world. Such a great film. I told everyone about it and just as it is with my K drama experience now no one was interested once they knew it had subs!
Queen is a new one on me so I will add to the watch list.

        1

Queen is soooooo good!!!!!!!! You will love watching a young woman whose wedding plans get canceled days before the wedding, pick herself up and explore the world. It’s really marvelous!
I’ve told so many people about these films but rarely does anyone in my world want to watch something even WITH subs. sigh. Their loss!

I like both movies but haven´t seen them in years.
Queen was an instant favorite so I´m really excited for my rewatch.

I was so disappointed to find Joong-do’s real self, the series lost something for me. After reading through recaps I didn’t watch the last episode. Would like to have seen his son survive. Lotsa lies.

Jong-do’s arc is absolutely soul-destroying – but the final episode is worth watching. Not that it provides any solace for the shock reveal but rather how our heroine finds a landing out of this mass

Trolley – Episode 13, Joong-do is a liar, Seung-hee posts what she thinks is the truth & Hye-joo? Hye-joo as usual does nothing. I’m rather fed up with her wimpy ways – grow a backbone will ya!

3

Hye-joo doesn’t deserve any of this. every single person -Joong-do and Seung-hee (and her whack mother) -protect themselves shamelessly . I really feel sorry for Hye-joo’s daughter.

Graceful Friends is interesting but a bit slow. Knowing there’s a nice juicy Murder up ahead is keeping me watching. I do love a good murder. So many questions so early, can’t wait for answers!

Searching for Kdrama about young girl, her father’s killer brings her up like his own daughter. She becomes an assassin. Lots of fancy footwork and martial arts. It’s a sageuk. Anyone know the name?

I think you are talking about My Name, and if not I have just spoiled it for you, sorry.

      Hello Eazal,
You haven’t spoiled anything, don’t worry. I’ve also watched My Name that’s not it. It’s a sageuk, the girl’s father is shot with an arrow. I have an idea her name could be I-seol, not sure though.

Trolley is so watchable, this is down to our two leads whose performance and chemistry is magical, you can feel the sexual tension, add a dead son, suspicious stranger, secrets & politics – wow!
