Day 8: Movie that Makes You Sad:
Hmmm….
There are films that, while not necessarily sad, do have very sad/emotional moments. In that category, I’ll put Little Women (1994). For a film with a sad story line, I’ll put Salaam Bombay (1988). In this story, one bad circumstance leads to another, until all hope is gone for our protagonist.
#30DayMovieChallenge
Day 7: Movie that Makes You Happy
My mind goes blank with these things. LOL. I’ll go with Pretty in Pink (1986), but there are others.
You’re welcome. The two songs I shared are from her album, The Gloom. I haven’t listened to all of her songs. Her channel has a mixture of original compositions and covers.
#30DayMovieChallenge
Comedy Movie:
Dirty, Filthy, Love (2004, this is more of a comedy-drama), and Happiness of the Katakuris (2001, a musical, comedy, horror).
So they did tackle Blue Beard. In my comment for episode four, I mentioned getting Blue Beard vibes. The mystery regarding Moon-young’s parents and childhood continues.
I LOVED Highway! Randeep Hooda was so good. And that’s the only Alia Bhatt movie I have watched but I bet she was better in this film than some of her other work.
I saved Beautiful mind for later 🙂
I haven’t seen all of her works, but I think that Alia Bhatt is pretty talented. As for Beautiful Mind–if you do have the time, I think it would be a good watch.
This July challenge is difficult because I don\’t have many favorites when it comes to movies or other things. I will think in more simple terms of things I like or don\’t like. But I probably could squeeze in a few favorites here and there. LOL
#30 Day Movie Challenge
Day 2–Favorite Fantasy Movie
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001). I only re-watch the Director’s Extended Edition.
I guess I’ll give this challenge a go, but I’m not sure if I’ll have something for everyday.
#30 Day Movie Challenge
Day 1– The Last Movie You Watched
A re-watch for Me: Pad Man (2018)
While yesterday\’s episode was definitely on the funny side, it also managed to be deep. I love how the show combines dark fairy tales, a bit of magic realism, and day-to-day struggles.
It also continues to set up our fairy tale. We now have a cursed castle in a mysterious forest and our heroine trapped in the curse. I quite enjoyed the episode.
Wouldn\’t it be cool if Moon Young\’s castle/childhood home towered over the city in the same way that Edward Scissorhand\’s gothic castle towered over that suburban Californian neighborhood? #itsokaytonotbeokay
Me too! White Christmas and I’ve been waiting for him to come back to see something new. I came into kdramas after he was diagnosed with cancer and watched White Christmas for some others, and he just happened to be there! But he was amazing and has a lot of charisma.
Thanks to the Beanies who have been helping me with the author/book search mystery. I have stopped for the time being and asked the patron to write to me if he remembers any more details.
A patron sent me the following question: “In 1959 my teacher discussed a book in which elderly people were systematicly killed ‘visiting’ the purple surface. Do you know the author and the name of that book?”
The patron couldn’t give me any other information. I have been trying different online resources, but haven’t come up with anything. Does this plot sound vaguely familiar to anyone?
An Agatha Christie detective story maybe? I have no idea about the “purple surface” though. Maybe the patron can rephrase what they mean by it… surface of what?
Unfortunately, that’s the only information the patron could provide. He didn’t remember anything else. I couldn’t come up with anything re: the purple surface.
This sounds very much like Asimov science fiction where the surface of the earth or any planet is unlivable due to any condition from radioactivity to low oxygen or high radiation, and people live under the ground. Though I don’t remember any of his books dealing with killing elderly people. Maybe another author with a similar style.
This actually sounds super familiar but I can’t think why (probably because I went through a phase of too much dystopian sci fi). My guess would be something in the vein of Aldous Huxley, Arthur C Clarke, Isaac Asimov. I’ll keep thinking.
