Among the leads, Ji Pyeong is the only one acting like an adult. I feel like he deserves more than the mess with Dal-mi and Do San. I’m tired of watching Dal-mi and Do San wailing like the whole world has always wronged them. Oh please, when the world throws lemon at you, you should beat it, squeeze it and make lemonade, like what Ji Pyeong did. Too much high school mentality is going on with these two perfectly functioning “adults”.

Hmmm, I sort of get why Do-san and Dal-mi are upset though. Having said all that, I kind of hated how this episode made so much of Do-san’s internal turmoil. By the end, it felt like it dwarfed what had happened to Dal-mi, as if Do-san was the real victim or the person who had been wronged.

Anyway, after the last two episodes, I find I’m more and more on Team Ji-pyeong. After this episode, I had this moment after Ji-pyeong confessed where I just wanted the romance plot to get hijacked by Ji-pyeong and for Dal-mi to ditch Do-san. It’s not gonna happen (sadly), but I find myself a bit annoyed with how the show keeps bending backwards to make Do-san seem so pitiful and wronged.

I feel like the show established Ji Pyung early on by giving him a solid backstory and is now trying to overcompensate Do San by giving us his backstory now. We should have gotten this internal turmoil a little earlier

Agree re Ji-pyeong having a solid story from the get-go. I don’t mind that Do-san’s backstory is coming out now. For me, the bigger problem is how passive Dal-mi is in all of this and how Do-san’s inner turmoil has completely overshadowed how Dal-mi feels. I get it, poor puppy is hurt, sad, and lacks confidence. However, at this point, the show feels a bit emotionally manipulative, since it feels like Do-san’s sadness is occurring because Dal-mi is somehow obtuse and not seeing how great a guy he is, how he just wanted the best for her, how much he likes her, etc. etc. Even if he is a great guy who genuinely likes her and wants the best for her, better writing would allow this to co-exist with a proper examination of her inner life and her emotions as she processes what just came to light. Instead, it feels like uncovering Do-san’s inner turmoil is coming at the expense of uncovering Dal-mi’s feelings.

Agree. I think it’s bad writing to keep digging DS’s internal emotions to persuade the viewers that DS is a worthy guy for Dal-mi. Just because DS has a sad backstory doesn’t mean that Dal-mi has to feel sorry for him and feel obliged to forgive him or even return his love. Also, DS’s love for Dal-mi doesn’t feel right to me, he’s mostly driven by the obsession and love Dal-mi has for her first love, which boosts his ego. Compared to DS, JP is just miles better, from the very beginning, JP’s motivation toward Dal-mi has always been selfless, first because of grandma’s request, and later purely for Dal-mi’s wellbeing. There was this time that JP confessed his love to Dal-mi for his peace of mind, but he also stressed that he didn’t expect anything in return. That makes JP miles better than DS in terms of character. Dal-mi is also pathetic that she has to rely on others to prove her worth (insisting that dad was right, obsessing with the “hot shot” Do San) and quickly looses her mind when her amazing Do San turns out to be a lie from the beginning. I know that DM will eventually choose DS because that’s how the story is set up, but that just makes her character further irrelevant to me. At this point, I’ll stick to the show only for JP and hope he ditches the troublesome couple asap and gets the happiness he deserves. Amen!

Totally agree. Dal Mi just seems blank. We see emotions but not how she thinks or what drives her. It’s a shame that yeh writing is so unbalanced when it comes to characters cause there is so much scope there

Agreed. On paper, she has a good set-up. The writer could do good stuff with her. I don’t know why she’s being left to languish like this.

Yes, I feel you. I wondered why I like JP better in this case, and the answer I got is because I knew JP from the very beginning. He had a sad past but he managed to rise from it. It’s sad that I learned later on that DS also had insecurities, but this is sadly a difference between JP and DS: One managed it by himself and one managed it by the love drive he has for one woman. I’m glad that DS is beginning to show signs of him loving himself, but it doesn’t make it less sad that one needed to love one woman in order to face such problem head on. When we have another character to compare him with, it highlights how different these two are in terms of internal strength.

It doesn’t make it any more easy to feel for DS when Kim Seon-ho, besides having a great story and depth of character from the get-go, has stronger screen presence; and while DS has become more possessive of Dal-mi, JP shows that he’s always selfless when it comes to her.

So how can people not root for JP? Do-San is lovely, yes; but we have a competitor who doesn’t lack anything compared to him.

Ji Pyeong has had his petty moments for sure but on the whole, he feels more like a grown up. I feel for Do-san and Dal-mi but both of them going on about how the other was their dream just made them seem like teenagers.

Ji Pyeong should escape this drama and travel through the whole Netflix, leaving everyone longing for his dimples. He has the best reactions.
