Thoughts and Theories on Was It Love/Did We Love?

Song Ji Hyo/ Noh Ae Jung- I became a huge Song Ji Hyo fan since 2010 when I started watching Running Man. Despite my big love for her, I had no qualms about dropping Lovely Horribly. She isn’t the greatest actress but I liked how she portrays Noh Ae Jung.

Noh Ae Jung’s character isn’t new in dramaland but I’m just happy to see her back on the small screen. I dislike scream-y characters and she was one but I’m willing to overlook that. I hope that she maintains her spunk and strength in the entire drama and although we haven’t seen PD Noh in action yet, I’m praying that she’s good at her job.

Son Ho Joon/Oh Dae Oh- I have a soft spot for Son Ho Joon because he’s adorable in Reply 1994 and Go Back Couple (which remains to be in my top 5 favorite dramas of all time). He’s not disarmingly handsome but he’s adorable in a “realistic” kind of way. I also noticed that his face fits the 90s era well.

Oh Dae Oh is sensitive but his pain made him a big *ss. It’s obvious that he’s still hung up on Noh Ae Jung but the flashback scenes (by the river) made me look forward to seeing their cute moments. His running scenes were painful to watch which is why I can’t hate him so much.

Theory 1: I’m 80% sure that he’s the dad. I think that they broke up because Dae Oh was only starting school (he mentioned that he enrolled late) so the situation calls for Noble Idiocy/ the “I-don’t-want-to-ruin-your-future-so-I’m-going-to-run-away” excuse.

That scene when he was crying and saying he wanted to die and he can’t bear the pain, that was a good acting! I felt his pain 😭😭😭

Song Jong Ho/Ryu Jin- He’s the Oppa in Reply 1997 (which is also in my Top 5) so I was excited to watch him again. Like Son Ho Joon, I feel like Song Jong Ho’s visuals also fit the 90s era well. Not much has been revealed about his character yet so I’m looking forward to it. Although, he looks kind and he’s hilarious, too.

Theory 2: He likes Noh Ah Jung and she probably also had a crush on him (she chose to kiss him in the dare) but Oh Dae Oh called dibs first so he wasn’t able to confess his feelings.

Have just finished this week’s episodes and am getting shady vibes from Ryu-jin, did he somehow wreck things up between Ae-jung & Dae-oh? Feels like he got this guilty look every time Dae-oh mentioned Ae-jung, and their conversation after the heartbreak run (like Forrest Gump but in circles ><) is awfully suspicious.
Wild theory: maybe all this time he was in love with Dae-oh instead of Ae-jung, hehe.

I’d like that theory! LOL. Hmmm, your theory sounds interesting. I guess I trusted him too much. We’ll see. 🙂

        1

Yea, it’s really too early to tell so mine’s totally wild, hehe. Totally loves it when show gets us viewers excited enough to make theories ^^

Koo Ja Sung/ Oh Yeon Woo- It’s the first time I’m seeing him in anything but he’s so cute. If I had a teacher like him, I would definitely develop a crush so Ha-nee was 100% relatable on their first scene together. His love for Noona mirrors the usual puppy in love in dramaland which isn’t new at all.

Theory 3: He volunteered to be the dad 14 years ago after they found out that Noh Ae Jung was pregnant, hence, the notebook. I don’t think he’s the dad at all.

    4
    1

That’s what I thought too! If he was the dad then Ae-Jong’s reaction will be totally different when she met him again.

Kim Min Joon/ Goo Pa Do- He’s scary and sexy. It’s also my first time to watch any of his dramas. His character is portrayed as the bad guy but so far, he hasn’t done anything “bad” to AeJung yet. One thing I noticed about him is when he first saw Noh Ae Jung, there was a slight change in his expression.

Theory 4: Someone who looks like Noh Ae Jung once existed in his life, she must have been the mom of his child.

Kim Mi Kyung/ Omma- I LOVE HER SO MUCH.
Um Chae Young/ Noh Ha-nee- She’s smart, spunky, and adorable. She’s so fun to watch.
Yoon Sung Woo/ Goo Dong Chan- I want to hug him because he has sad eyes. I’m looking forward to more scenes of him and his dad.

Mi Kyung eomma is soo busy these days 😂 I think she’s the best eomma in kdramaland. The kids are so adorable! I love them. Can’t wait for next week’s episodes.

I’ve got the same thoughts on Dae-oh and Yeon-woo. Dae-oh’s a jerk but it’ll come back to him when he knows he’s the dad.

Me too! Gosh I don’t like Dae-o for now, but because of this scene, I can’t wait to see him coming around and getting jealous of the other men.

The tables will turn on you, my friend, I guarantee it.

      3
      1

Right?! He was such an a&$hole!
Can’t wait for him to find out about Ae-Jong’s daughter.

        2
        1

His daughter, right? Does everybody else think Ha-ni is Oh Dae-oh’s daughter?

          4
          3

I see a big possibility that he is the dad!

            3
            0

I also think there’s a big chance he’s the dad. BUT I don’t want him to be the endgame just because he is. Show needs to make us root for him, and I’m looking forward to it!

            4
            0

Based on the way his character is introduced and based on the poster for this show, I definitely think Dae-oh is endgame (T_T poor Yeon-woo). However, I completely agree that he shouldn’t be endgame just because he is likely Ha-ni’s dad.

Honestly, if either Yeon-woo or Dae-oh are the dad, I’ll be happy. I’ll be peeved if the actor is the dad, though. He annoys me already.

            3
            0

I’m so curious about who the dad is. My bet is Oh Dae-oh.

    2
    1

I think it’s Dae-oh too! Hope the show will reveal the dad early, not really eager for guess-the-dad game…

      3
      1

Same! I would much prefer the bulk of the show being spent on Ae-jeong actually trying to form meaningful relationships, preferably not based on deception or concealing of information.

        3
        1

With 5 people tangled together, got headache already thinking about misunderstandings that can happen with deception/concealing of information, so totally agree with you and hope show won’t give us much of that!

I enjoyed the first ep of Did We Love. I love Song Ji Hyo but her last drama was just so bad that I couldn’t finish the first ep. I’m aboard this adorable ship already though I’m sure I’m gonna love everyone! 🥰

I watched that just this week and… I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
I had just finished watching/reading “DoroHeDoro” and “Fruits Basket”, and I was looking for some fluff for a good balance and… nope… it just didn’t really do it for me.

Also, Red Velvet\’s Psycho is my Song of the Year and I think it\’s perfect for IOTNBO. I want someone to do a fanvid of it.

A digression, but I love how there’s this background whispering of, “Psycho!” when Moon-young does outrageous things. It’s very fitting, I feel.

Thought I was completely fine until I started watching IOTNBO. This drama surprisingly affects me more deeply than it should. I guess we all have battles to face.

I wonder how much of Kang-tae’s recollection of his mother is selective. I hope there is something forgotten, that there was some kind of misinterpretation, or some other explanation. However, even assuming his mom genuinely loved Kang-tae and wasn’t so focused on Sang-tae (to the utter exclusion of Kang-tae), the things she said to Kang-tae were (unintentionally?) cruel and emblematic of his self-abnegation.

    3
    1

I don’t want to think of his Mom that way but it seems that she gave birth to KangTae for the very reason. It’s also probably the reason why he dedicated his whole life to taking care of his brother which is a tragedy, in my opinion. Maybe all parents do carry expectations of us. It just depends on how big those expectations are.

      4
      2

I think all parents do have expectations of their children, but I think the nature of those expectations can differ.

Sometimes, parents expect things of their children that are not to the benefit of their children. Kang-tae’s mom seems to fall in this camp, at least in respect of Kang-tae. Even worse, sometimes the things parents want from their children are self-serving. Kwak Dong-yeon’s character has a plot arc like this. These expectations are wrong IMO. They are not fair and they betray a lack of genuine concern and care for the children involved. They amount to treating children as instruments for the achievement of objects not related to the children at all.

Other times, though, parents can have expectations that are genuinely related to the welfare of their children. When parents expect us to be honest or to be responsible for behaviour that hurts other people, their expectations come from a place of concern and are fueled by a desire to see their children reach live good, decent lives. Similarly, when parents have educational expectations of their children, those are often motivated by a desire to see their children reach their full potential or they are driven by the wish that their children avoid lives filled with hardship. Now these expectations can be just as burdensome – sometimes even more burdensome than the first kind of expectations! – but I don’t think these kinds of expectations are, by their very nature, wrong.

        2
        0

I think hearing that he was born to take care of his brother so bluntly from his mother may have really damaged Kang Tae’s self worth. It may have made him think that there wasn’t more to his life, which be seen even at his current age
