Beanie level: Rooftop room dweller

I’m watching so many dramas at the moment but after Law School’s finale, I could sense a slump coming. I couldn’t focus on my other dramas and I blame it on my tendency to find romance in non-romance dramas.

Anyway, I wanted Ryu Hye Young to get some tlc and decided to watch Dear My Room. I shipped them immediately while feeling guilty towards SolHwi. I started watching around 6pm and finished at 5am (I skipped the opening credits and DIY epilogues). I only have less than 2 hours of sleep and I know my brain won’t work perfectly today but I have no regrets.

Random thoughts:
-Ryu Hye Young is giving me Gong Hyo Jin vibes 😍
-Kim Jae Young is a cutie 🥰
-Kim Sun Young is also best Omma here ❤️
-That Nam Ji Hyun and DO cameo 💕
-Why does Park Ji Hyun keep on choosing roles which make me want to slap her whenever she’s on screen??? Still haven’t fully forgiven her for DYLB 😒

All in all, this is what a healing drama is. I can’t wait for the weekend to start cleaning, clearing out, and rearranging my room. ❤️❤️❤️

I loved it too. I told myself I’m gonna watch just 2 eps and ended up watching all 12!

I loved this little show! It’s so hard to find though.

Some of the DIY epilogues are interesting, if you get the chance to watch them later.

Beanies, join me! They don’t necessarily need to be 2021 dramas. As long as you watched them in 2021, then it’s good. ☺️

    1. Move to Heaven
    2. Every time Inzagi appears in Vincenzo
    3. Myol Mung and Tuk Dong Kyong (SIG and PBY)
    4. What Do You Need To Say by Lee Junho (Just Between Lovers) ❤️

    10. Move to Heaven

I may have to give DAYS a try since we seem to like similar shows.🤔 It’s been so poorly received that I’ve been hesitant…very sad because I really like SIG and PBY.

      2
      1

I never expected anything grand from DAYS because fantasy dramas have never been my favourites, so I had zero expectations. I simply started this because SIG and PBY looked really good together in their poster, and their chemistry is no joke. It’s still not the best out there, but if you are a sucker for heart fluttering romantic scenes like me, then give it a chance☺️

    1. Sell Your Haunted House (Navil comes as a close second)
    2. The hard-sale men underwear PPL scene in the last so of SYHH it was so evident it was funny.
    3. Ji-ah and In-bum: Time for slow-burning and somewhat platonic love!
    4. Every song from Chocolate
    5. Sisyphus, Vincenzo, Mary Stayed Out All Night, and some more I can’t remember.
    6. Beans know I’m an ultra-fast dropper.

    1. Best drama: Move to Heaven

    2. Best scene: this is not from my fave drama, but I wrote down two excerpts of dialogue from Live Up to Your Name that I really loved:

“This is why people say one’s body is the same as one’s résumé. You get hurt here and there in your life. All those incidents remain in your body and raise a clamour, right? Some people consider these signs in your body as a medal. Others consider them as sorrow. But what can we do about it? We should gently soothe the pain and live on.” Dr Choi Cheon Sul

“Do you think we only treat illness here? To those old people, it’s not just a place where they get acupuncture. It’s a place where they embrace their hearts and share their sadness.” Dr Choi Cheon Sul

    3. Favourite OTP: I loved the couples in Go Back Couple and Hello Monster the most this year (so far). ❤️ Jang Na Ra ❤️

    4. Fave OST: I loved the classical pieces they used in Move to Heaven and the BGM was great overall. But the song I really love from a drama I watched this year is probably “Not Gonna Wait” by Park Jae Jung (on the Live Up To Your Name OST: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ddATkfQy-j8

    5. Dropped: Find Me in Your Memory, Introverted Boss, Touch Your Heart, and A Love So Beautiful (C-drama)

    6. Hate-watched: I don’t tend to hate-watch, but I forced myself to finish The Package even though I should (and normally would) have dropped it. I couldn’t give up seeing France on screen, but the couple, especially the male lead, really baffled me, and I felt the writers included mysteries that were unnecessary (such as the relationship between the older man and younger woman)

    7. Many loved but I didn’t: I have a number of shows that fit this brief, but not really one that I watched this year. Maybe the C-drama A Love So Beautiful is the most popular from the ones I’ve dropped? I really liked Run On, but perhaps not to the extent that everyone else did. I found the dialogue a bit odd (but that could have been because of subtitling issues, and not the show itself)

    8. I love but most don’t: I don’t tend to give shows a try without seeing that it’s quite widely enjoyed, which is 1 reason I don’t live-watch anything. I am a bitter person when I feel like I’ve wasted my drama-watching hours!😅

    9. Re-watched: I have a drama palate-cleanser – does anyone else have this? If I feel uninspired, need a break between shows, or crave a comfort watch, I always turn to She Was Pretty. It’s not high-brow, intellectual or sophisticated, and I skip past all the bits I dislike, but this show is like my safety blanket. The scene where Hye Jin realises she has lost the puzzle piece and is searching for it in the office just kills me every time. The way she describes what she’s looking for to the lady cleaning the office is comfortingly hilarious to me.☺️

    10. Live Up To Your Name – I enjoyed this one a lot

    1. Bossam, Steal the Fate
    2. The jail scene b/t Yuri and Jung Il-woo episode 10-11.
    3. The Princess and Ba-woo (I’m a sucker for Stockholm syndrome, apparently.)
    4. Doom at your service.
    5. Oh, Master! (At ep 4.) I try a lot of first episodes without any intention of watching the show. I don’t count these as dropped though.
    6. I don’t hate watch. Life is too short, and I rarely just hate a drama—there’s always something redeeming.
    7. Hospital playlist. (I liked it, just didn’t love it as much as I thought I would.)
    8. Hello? It’s Me!
    9. Fated to love you.

    1. The one I’m enjoying the most is Bossam which didn’t finish airing. Just in case things take a left turn, I’ll go with Hello:Me, a drama that had a fluffy unassuming way to approach hard themes.
    2. Bawooyah, bawooyah! Bossam-Beanies will know 😉. Bahn Hani and Young Bahn Hani walking into the tunnel hand in hand.
    3. Bawoo and Sookyung going on with their lives as a lovely (fake) couple. Also liked Sungyeom and Mijoo. I guess we’re having good year for low-key sweet couples who communicate. Missing the fireworks, though 😙
    4. Hands down, Bossam. Kickass OST. Special mention to Taxi Driver‘s techno beats.
    5. and 6. : Still undecided whether I’ll skip-watch or just drop the final episodes of River where the Moon Rises and Taxi Driver
    7. Navillera is a sweet drama, but it didn’t engage me the same way it did a lot of Beanies.
    8. Move to Heaven and Sweet Home received a lot of love from the Beanies who watched them, but definitely got less attention than they should!
    9. Too many new dramas and webcomics out there, no time for rewatching
    10. Move to Heaven. Before that, webdrama Writing your destiny

    6. Taxi Driver (WTF… I skipped a lot of scenes out there!)
    7. none
    8. Love (Ft. Marriage & Divorce) (so good show for me… I can’t wait for almost-revengeful second season this Saturday (June 12))

I have officially withdrawn my participation as a volunteer for Tokyo Olympics today and though I feel bad about it, safety is my priority. I\’m rooting that they pull off a safe and successful event.

I’m sorry that you had to do this, but yeah, you need to prioritize yourself and stay safe.

Firstly, it’s so cool that you were a volunteer at a historic event, I didn’t even know they had volunteers. Secondly, withdrawing was the most prudent thing because your wealth really does come first.

Beanies, what do you think about volunteering at vaccine centres? I’m also torn btw helping my country and the health risk. Based on current projection my turn for the vaccine is still a few months away. Plus point is my parents are vaccinated (i live with em. Asian ‘kid’ here 😬)

    1
    1

My friend got vaccinated with Sinovac and still got the virus 3 days after. It depends on how risky it is. I would’ve continued volunteering if I just did remote work but I work closely with kids and I didn’t want to take the risk.
