Me going to binge Flower of Evil fully aware that NO ONE knows when the next episode will air and that I am going to be instantly hooked.

Last year I never knew what to watch because nothing caught my interest or was so bad I dropped it. This year I never know what to watch because everything is so good that I can\’t choose!

I found last year was okay, especially the tail end of the year. There were stretches of time where significant stretches of time, though, where I didn’t live-watch anything. This year, though, I find that I’m always live-watching at least one show, and usually more than one show.

Memorials reminds me of a mix of Fight My Way and My Fellow Citizens. I like it!

Omg I’m so happy she was able to perform this on a music show. Song of the summer incoming.

This is nowhere in the realm of Kpop I usually listen to but like I love this??? The “dook dook dook” sound and dance move is TOO catchy. And I love all the chef imagery.

I did not like Doctor Foster, so I\’m hesitant to watch WOM. Any beanies in the same boat who are watching and liking World of Married?

Thanks for letting me know! It’s getting high praise and ratings so it has me intrigued, but I’m not a fan of the source material…

ofcourse…but you should watch a couple of episodes for yourself .. who knows you may like it

my guess for high rating would be because this isn’t usual sop story as in other kdramas.. so for korean audience this might be altogether a new take

I don’t know the original but TWOTM was great. If you should give it a chance depends on the reason why you disliked Foster.

I think it follows the same storyline as Doctor foster from reading the recaps. I do think the 16 episode format, addition of new characters, cast, soundtrack made it an intense watch. I wasn’t a huge fan of the
original story anyway so I didn’t want to watch the remake. I’ve seen that a lot of people have enjoyed the show.

I’ve never watched Doctor Foster, so I cannot comment on that particular show. However, World of the Married was fantastic. It’s quite the intense viewing experience.

Bow down to Queen Chungha! I can’t believe this is only a pre-release. It is comeback quality. SHOOK.

Such a catchy song! This should be the title track, each comeback is even better than the last.

If this quarantine doesn\’t get me to knock out some dramas from my 125 drama-long watchlist I\’m going to be mad at myself.

Today is my first day of working at home since my university closed last Wednesday. I just started my new job in admissions a month ago so this should be interesting. It\’s hard to recruit new students to the school when I am unable to travel or hold events. It’s also hard to learn the ropes of a new position when you’re not able to meet face-to-face with your supervisor and team members. I’m trying to remember it’s not my fault. Everyone in higher education (and literally every other industry) is being challenged right now.

I still may have to go to campus this week. Right now we are taking things day-by-day in terms of making the transition to working remotely. Also, there are some functions of the job that may require the whole team to meet in person, so we are trying to determine how to work around that or how to maintain social distancing if we are all in the office. In these uncertain times, I am thankful for my health and the health of my loved ones. I am also thankful that I have the privilege to work from home. And I am thankful to have a community of Beanies to turn to. Hope everyone is staying safe!

Should have known I would cry my eyes out during Ep 1 of Hi Bye Mama since it\’s written by the writer of Go Back Couple!

My Top 20 Kpop Songs of 2019

I’ve seen the Billboard lists and people making their own on various forums, but I wanted to share mine here. Let me know if you have similar music taste as me or where you would rank these songs on your own list (if at all)!

1. Dramatic – BVNDIT
Dramatic is THE most under-rated release of the year. Released on the heels of BVNDIT’s debut Hocus Pocus, I think Dramatic fell under the radar due to the close timing and lack of a standard MV (although the performance video for this song is just as high quality as a MV).

This song was produced by Hui from Pentagon and perfectly showcases BVNDIT’s unique vocal tones and lower registers. I love the whistling flute sounds and the step up in key of the synths during the chorus. The production is really crisp yet has so many layers. I find myself enjoying something new each time I listen.

The rapping in this song is absolutely incredible; the singer’s husky voice and swift delivery were so unexpected especially if you listened to BVNDIT’s debut that was void of rap.

In sum, this is a masterpiece and my most played song of 2019. Thanks to all who followed along and here’s to more amazing Kpop releases in 2020!

Definitely a year of girl groups for you. Thank you for sharing, it has been fun and I’ve picked up some new songs.

I tend to prefer girl groups over boy groups. Hoping SHINee makes a comeback in 2020 once Onew, Key, and Minho exit the military. They are my favorite boy group 🙂 Thanks for following along and glad you found some new songs!

I admit that I am more of a boy group gal (Shawol started it all!), BUT this was very helpful! Last year your top picks were a complete mystery, this year I managed to recall most of them, so I guess I have updated my knowledge a bit in 2019 😉 Challenge me again in 2020, will you? 😉

2. Drip – HINAPIA
HINAPIA had the fastest debut of 2019. After announcing the re-debut of several Pristin members, the teasers, song, and MV all dropped within a few days. I had low expectations considering the company behind HINAPIA is not well known, but then I was absolutely blown away by Drip. This song is seductive and edgy, perfectly blending the group’s polarized rap and vocal lines. I hope that despite the company being under the radar and this debut not getting much attention, HINAPIA continues releasing music and gathering a fan base.

3. Snapping – CHUNG HA
Leave it to Chungha to deliver South Korea’s hot girl summer anthem. I love the evolution Chungha went through in 2019. While her previous releases were fun and girly, the one-two punch of Gotta Go and Snapping showed Chungha’s mature, sexy side. This is the artist I was anticipating when Chungha’s solo debut was announced. It took awhile to get to this point, but I am so glad we are here.

Snapping is catchy as hell and Chungha serves looks as a platinum blonde. There really isn’t much to say about this comeback except flawless. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in 2020!

Did she just reference Purple Rain? I know it is about the song but she is so pretty.

She did reference it, but I’m not sure if it is given the same meaning as Prince’s song. And yes, she is so gorgeous!!

This year was The Year for her. Personally, she’s the soloist that stood out the most and I hope she keeps going on this path. Chica and Flourishing are my favourite sidetracks.

Flourishing is amazing! I think we can look forward to more great releases from her in 2020.

Exactly. I follow her since Produce 101 and her evolution is steady.

4. Picky Picky – Weki Meki
Two words: A BOP. Whoever wrote the hook to this song deserves an award. This reminds me of the British pop from the early 2000s a la Girls Aloud or the early works of Charli XCX. It’s funky, sassy, and a bit retro. The neon pink and yellow schoolgirl concept works so well with the song. Weki Meki is a group of incredible dancers and the choreography to this song is easily one of my favorites of the year.

5. No – CLC
CLC is one of my favorite under-rated girl groups, so I was shook when they had not one, but THREE comebacks this year. No is a fierce track perfect for strutting down the runway. The bass is so dirty, yet never overpowers CLC’s vocals. What I love most about this song is the lyrics. Kpop needed more female empowerment anthems and this is one of the best of 2019. Check out CLC’s mini album No.1. It is my favorite of the year.
