‘Malibu’ by Miley Cyrus
Lately, I have been wishing for someone to save me from my difficult reality. I know it won’t happen and I know I need to be my own hero. I detest being the damsel in distress. But sometimes, we just hope for someone to magically change things. Although it definitely will not happen that way, this song just makes me believe…..that things will change for the better and that even if it is temporary, there will be love, growth and goodness at the end of the rainbow. I just have to wait, hope and hold on!
I missed yesterday. So here goes #MusicMarch No.18
‘Touch Love’ from Master’s sun. One of my most favourite dramas ever ❤️️ ❤️️ ❤️️ To this day, I wish they were a real-life couple ❤️️ I love the actors and the music in this drama was top-notch.

I love this version of the Elvis Presley song ‘Can’t help falling in love with you’❤️️
This song makes me feel the warmth that comes with gradually falling in love and staying in love, forever, without any doubts. Because you simply know, that this here is the right one for you and is worth everything.
I think that’s why I love it: this song gives me that heart-tingling romance with the promise of eternity❤️️❤️️
#MusicMarch No.13
Another song in Tamil. This is sung by a mother about her daughter. The lyrics and music are exceptional!
I remember locking my bathroom door and sobbing after I watched this movie. The story takes place during the violent and tragic Sri Lankan civil war. It is about the girl in this song who comes as a refugee from Sri Lanka to the shores of Tamil Nadu and is adopted as an infant. The adoptive parents tell her the truth when she turns 11. The rest of the story is about the girl’s desire and subsequent journey to Sri Lanka to see her biological parents.
Beanies, if you have time and are looking for something different and emotional to watch, I would recommend this. It brought home to me the fact that hundreds of kids are going through this kind of tragedy every day because of some strangers’ political ambitions and greed for power. Families are torn and it is literally happening all over the world. I have had sleepless nights thinking about this issue. I want to try to make this world a better place, a more peaceful place. As you can see, this movie has had a great impact on me and that is the point of cinema and story-telling. I hope you have had the pleasure of hearing/watching stories that touched your hearts and grabbed your souls and made you look at the world with kinder eyes.
Now, have a listen. Here is the translation:
My heart feels a soothing chillness!
My ears hear a soothing beat,
If she lays a kiss on my cheeks,
If you lay a kiss on my cheeks!
Oh god gifted flower!
What is the quest in your eyes?
You are the place where life begins!
You are the limits where the skies end!
You came like the breeze,
And now, transformed into my breath!
You are the life that oozes in my heart!
You are my wealth!
You are my poverty!
You are my meticulously constructed poem!
You are also the flaw in my writing!
You are my borrowed light!
You are the tears of the night!
You are my sky!
You are my missing wings too!
You are the sorrow that I lovingly raised!
Oh god gifted flower!
Why this small conflict, my dear?
You are my kin/friend!
You are also my foe!
You are the flower of love!
You are also the thorn in the womb!
You are the lovely rain!
You are also the light thunder!
You are the body that is born with life!
You are also the departing soul!
You are the birth that was borne by death!
One of my all-time favourite movies! Mani Ratnam at his best, and of course, Rahman too! For an all-out commercial film, this was a very sensitive topic to tackle, and done so well.

Continuing with the theme of nostalgia, this is one of my most favourite OSTs from one of my most favourite dramas ever: Youth from Answer Me 1988. It is one rare gem of a drama that has something for everyone. I think someone on Dramabeans summed it up quite nicely when they said it is “warm like a mother’s home-cooked meal”.
Please watch it if you haven’t already done so. You are missing out. All the OSTs are awesome: slow, pleasant, and warm and soothing like hot-water bottles on a cold winter’s night.

I have always been a nostalgic person. Being away from home, I keep re-visiting my memories of bygone times: the love and support of friends, the warmth of home, cricket evenings and weekend movies with my parents, holidays, board games and remote fights with my brother, the smell of rain and the feeling of the wind in my hair, back home. This Ed Sheeran song perfectly encapsulates my yearning for simpler times and joys.

I lost one of my cousins yesterday. She had just turned 30 in December. She was young and hearty and had no known health complaints. She was normal one second and fainted the next, and that’s it. Why? How? No-one knows!
She and I weren’t close. You could call us acquaintances because she was in my second-cousin circle and I am not close with most of my relatives. But, she was a lovely person who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She leaves behind her 2 year old kid, her husband from a three-year old marriage, her father and her elder sister. I heard her sister refused to even cry. It’s heart-breaking!
I heard the news and I was shocked. But then, life, for me continued normally, as I am overseas and couldn’t attend the funeral. Moving on immediately with my everyday chores seemed cruel and made life seem unfair and I just wanted to share this song today as a tribute. It is a personal favourite and I listen to it when I miss my friends.
Thinking of you! Rest in Peace Anitha ka!
My condolences to you and your relatives. I teared up reading your comment. May she rest in peace. You know, I have heard that this world is a garden, and God always pick the most beautiful ones. I’m sure she will be an angel.
This kind of incidents, to me, is always like a wake-up call. We have limited time in this life, and no one knows their own expiration date (Hi, Bye Mama!). May be we should be more kind towards ourselves and others, and less judgmental.
Thank you for this! Yes, I completely agree. Life is already hard. No need to be harsh and judgmental. It is better to cherish those we have, here and now, because life is incredibly beautiful and fragile and we may lose everything the next instant.
