Beanie level: Noble idiot

Things just got a little more intense.

Episode 6-7 Snowdrop

What the —! The start of episode 5 was just brutal! Ugh. I couldn’t. Let me take that back. The whole episode was pretty intense and crazy. I wanted to start counting how many times I heard “shibal” lol.

Okay, just finished D.P. and wow, the last 2 episodes were the most intense. They were what I expected the show to be the whole time so I was a bit taken aback by the shift. No bit of comedy at all and I pretty much spent most of the episodes with the screen covered (my tolerance for bloody violence is very, very low). I had my brother watch the hostage scene and narrate it to me lol.

And whooooa, the cliffhanger mid-credit scene was just insane. I would look forward to a season 2 but maybe with caution on the bloody scenes.

Wow they cranked up the violence a bit in D.P. but I like how they still balance it with some comedic scenes between our main pursuers.

After losing a soldier and finding the next one easily in the first 2 episodes, I enjoyed the challenges we got in episodes 3 and 4, as well as seeing a part of Jun-ho’s story.

The fake beating was hilarious but it doesn’t counter the fact that the soldiers are still continually being assaulted.

I’m curious now if deserters still exist? I’m going to look up on this if I have time later.

P.S. They make me want to order fries and nuggets from McDo.

I’m a big fan of musicals and animations and enjoyed Sing 2! Not a Korean production (lol) but I was happy to hear I Say A Little Prayer for You and U2 songs!

I must admit, I totally forgot about watching D.P. last year but it’s never too late! Also my first time to be watching with a Beanie (hi @Unni!) so yay.

I’ve been fighting a headache the whole day so the colors of the show didn’t help much. I was struggling to focus because it seemed a lot of the scenes had blur effects so I couldn’t fully appreciate that.

What I was pleasantly surprised about the show was the cast. I know nothing about the show except Jung Hae-in and how dark and hard to watch it is. It was great seeing Go Kyung-pyo (looking cute in glasses lol), Son Seok-koo (after Jirisan, and Kim Sung-kyun (I watched him last in the Reply series.

It’s not as dark as I expected so far, 2 episodes in. I haven’t heard (or seen, in the case of subtitles) so much swear words and crude language in a kdrama but I’m not complaining, just making an observation. I didn’t expect it to have a comedic feel as well, especially with Koo Kyo-hwan’s entrance. I’ve never seen him before in kdramaland but I’m looking forward to seeing how he and Hae-in’s character work together.

If not for this headache, I might just suggest bingeing the whole 6 episodes in one go to Unni. 😅

Don’t forget to watch the closing credits for the final ep and catch the surprise extra scene.

Yours a headache, and mine is stiff neck with ugly pain, like I just can’t move it without it paining, and got adviced to stop looking at my screen 😭 I just saw like 10mins into 1 ep and had to stop! I’m sorry I’m kinda ruining our *1st together watch*, but my neck’s just not co-operating 🥺 miyane!
Do you wanna binge it, the next 4 eps? Go for it if you want! I’ll see tmrw for how long can I use screen! Again I’m feeling bad abt this, aghh!

Awww, I hope you’re feeling better! Must be too much screen time. 😅 I think my headache was because of too many lights nights bingeing.

I’ll see how I feel about finishing the rest later. Otherwise, I still look forward to your comments once you’re able to get back to it!😘

Also, are you on dramalist? I’m asking because I would love to see your ‘Watchlist’ and see if there’s anything else which we both haven’t watch, and can enjoy together, but we’ll take a whole 16eps drama! 6eps is pretty less to discuss, don’t you think?🤭

    1
    3

Lol 25-30 dramas in 4 months is a lot! My list isn’t 100% updated yet so there will be more but I did around 130 dramas between Feb 2020-Dec 2021.

After finishing On the Way to the Airport (8.5/10) and Shall We Have a Cup of Coffee (8/10), I shall now move on to D.P.

    Are you ready, @Unni? 😀

    1
    1

I AM! So, shall we start today? How many eps usually you see in a day, 2 or 3, or more? D.P is just 6 eps, so 2 eps per day?

      1
      1

Depends — usually 2-3 episodes. 😅 We can do 2 a day to be consistent!

        1
        1

Cool, so let’s start then! 2 eps of DP today! Whoever finishes will put it on wall with their thoughts and we’ll discuss under that, works?

Thanks to @bong-soo, my Friday night escape is JUROR 8 (2019).

Getting my Park Hyung-sik fix and happy to see Lee Kyu-hyung, too (yay!).

You’re welcome. JUROR 8 is one of three films still on my Viki ‘watchlist’ with the others being (award winning) ESCAPE FROM MOGADISHU (2021) and (to further my Kim Nam-gil education) THE PIRATES (2014).
Looking at the cast of JUROR 8 along with Park Hyung-sik and a slew of character actors also in the cast playing the judge is Moon So-ri who was terrific last year in VERGE.

Good choices! 👍 I hope you will have the free time to watch them 😊

I watched The Pirates last December when I saw the posters for the sequel. It’s a Korean Pirates of the Caribbean lol. Looking forward to seeing Kang Ha-neul, Han Hyo-joo, and the rest of the cast soon.

I’ll check out Escape from Mogadishu. VERGE is already on my list!

I love these two! I don’t know they had a project together
    Is this movie good?

Good movie (8.5/10) – I found it to be a bit overreactive in the beginning, but when it hit the peak, the Korean elements of heart-wrenching and emotion-invoking scenes came out. It made me appreciate the role of a jury and how difficult it is to make a decision on someone’s life.

Wait, wait! This is the end??

Not even a hug, although okay, I won’t complain much. Leaving a shot of Lee Sang-yoon’s gaze because I’m still wishing someone would look at me that way.

And maybe I’d be telling that someone soon, “I’m on the way to the airport.”

So much longing in their eyes. 🥺

Episodes 12-13 of On the Way to the Airport and with a wife who’s in the know, it’s not long before the husbands finds out.

ACK! They’re both in Jeju! I can’t! This show! Ughhhh!

⬆️ Me halfway

I HATE these just-missed-each-other scenes!

⬆️ Halfway past halfway

MY HEART!!!!!

⬆️ Towards the end of Episode 11 of On the Way to the Airport and my heart is beating rapidly because they’re going to meet again! This whole episode of separation was torture for my soul. And why didn’t she just get in the truck!

Oh. My. Gosh. The charged look. The brush of hands. The small nod. The longing in their eyes. How can this be so painfully wrong and right?

Episode 10 of On the Way to the Airport and I want some more happy scenes between our couple please.

Another great song from On the Way to the Airport.

Halfway through On the Way to the Airport and I am loving it. The soundtrack, the colors, the acting. I liked that there’s a bit of mystery surround Annie, her mother, and her biological father, which hooks me in to counter the pacing.

One of the highlights is definitely the wineglass scene on the plane. I read through the DB recap of this show and I so relate to all the emotions everyone went through almost 5 years ago. Lol.

The suspense around people finding out and seeing how far they take their relationship is killing me!

I still remember that wineglass scene on the plane!

I really should rewatch this show (but I have no time!!). It’s just so good.

Resistance is futile.

Episode 8 of On The Way to the Airport and I’ve got my chips ready. Flight will probably be a smooth sail for the next couple episodes.

Sometimes, comfort is found elsewhere.

Episode 7 of On The Way to the Airport and I’m getting stressed because people are starting to notice.

Yep, next episode, next level.

Episode 6 of On The way to the Airport and the anticipation is killing me.

The first song that struck me while watching On The Way to the Airport – oh, the longing to be with someone you truly love. I hope the leads get a happy ending somehow.

P.S. No spoilers pls!

I don’t know why it skipped my mind, but I haven’t watched D.P. yet. *raises hands to cover head*

Help a Beanie out? I know it’s about bullying, etc but is it bloody?

5
13

If i remember correctly, it’s only bloody (and also very heavy) for 2 last episodes. There are comedic scenes to make it balance. You should try watching it

        1

It’s a date! 😀 I’ve got it downloaded so I’m thinking of watching it after I finish On The Way to the Airport, which is probably Friday or Saturday this week.

          1
          1

It’s not bloody but there will be some scenes that will be hard to watch, because the bullying is hard and once you understand the reason it’s both heartbreaking and infuriating.

But what can I say? I believe it’s the best drama in 2021, and it balances those hard situations with some comedic scenes. The acting is top notch, and the writing deserves every award it can get. I can’t recommend it enough.

    8
    1

It’s not extremely bloody for the most part, but that doesn’t stop it from being incredibly difficult to watch at times. However, I never found any of the violence to be gratuitous or unnecessary. It’s only there to show the unflinching reality of bullying in the military.

I still highly recommend it. There’s a reason why D.P. is in pretty much every “top dramas of 2021” list. It’s a tough watch, but I assure you, you won’t be disappointed.

    4
    1

For me, bullying is harder to watch than gore. Some scenes are really tough, but the drama is worth watching

    5
    1

That’s true. Painful scenes are really difficult to watch. Steeling myself!

Episode 5 of On The Way to the Airport and I’m bracing myself for the ride!
